Depression, then why is it remembered as a significant government program?
• It gave people hope that the government was trying to help. It provided jobs and welfare for those needing it the most. It did great public work like parks, highways, electricity to rural areas. We still benefit today from some of the projects. We still have Social Security and banking insurance today.
