IMPORTANT NOTICE: WSK Street Maintenance

After many months of planning, several of our streets and cul-de-sacs will be undergoing maintenance. In approximately mid-March, the contractor will begin work on:

- Via La Colina , from Via Princesa to Via Del Sol - crack fill and sealer;

- Via Del Largo , from Via Del Sol to Via Zapata - crack fill and sealer;

- Via Del Sol from Via La Colina to WSK Golf Knolls boundary - grind + new asphalt;

- Calle Escarpado from Via La Colina to Via Playa Del Rey - grind + new asphalt;

- Via Calusa (cul-de-sac) - remove & replace all asphalt;

- Via Donoso Via Estrella (cui-de-sacs) - sealer;

- Clubhouse parking lot - new asphalt patches, crack fill sealer & repaint.

This work will probably be accomplished over two consecutive days:

Day One - Saw-cut or asphalt grinding to remove asphalt on Via Del Sol, Via Calusa, Calle Escarpado, and Clubhouse parking lot, followed by placement of new asphalt.

YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO DRIVE OR WALK ON THE NEW AS PHALT UNTIL THE FOLLOWING MORNING. DRIVING OR WALKING ON NEW ASPHAL T WILL RESULT IN DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE, and A FINE WILL BE ASSESSED T O COVER THE COST OF REPAIR.

Day Two - Crack fill & seal coat Via La Colina, Via Del Largo, and double seal coat Via Donoso, Via Estrella & Clubhouse parking lot. Again, please do not drive on new seal coat for eight hours.

Several days later - Repaint the STOP bars, speed bumps, speed limit markings and Clubhouse parking lot. This phase will not restrict your ability to drive on any of these streets.

Additional notification will be made via flyer regarding exact dates of maintenance work, driving restrictions, or other details. We cannot provide exact dates at this time because the paving work is not yet scheduled by the asphalt contractor and it is dependent on good weather - clear & mild, with no rain.

If you have questions or need assistance in planning, you can contact Jim Francis at 951-445-4844 or WSK Architectural Director, Bud Rose at 951-240-1841.

DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE TO PLAN YOUR SCHEDULE AROUND THIS IMPORTANT EVENT! * *

Also: No water sprinkling 24 hrs. before and 48 hours

after the work.

Our goal for our annual Ladies Tea was a "WOW" factor and according to the feedback we received, we reached that goal. Thank you to all the ladies from all the units who bought tickets and those who brought family and friends!

The stunning decorations; the outstanding delicacies (especially the Petit Fours!!); and the festive atmosphere made for a special time of fellowship with friends and neighbors.

This was our first major event for the new WSK Activities Committee, and a lot of thought, planning, and work went into it. Thank you to the ladies on Committee who put so much heart into making this happen. You Were Amazing!

Scruffy Says… “The Jig is Up!”

So, I headed into the house in search of food for the Coyote pup, while Mimi kept him safe. I wasn’t exactly sure how to get food, but I had bigger problems racing through my head, like; what if the Coyote pack came looking for him? And, if my buddies in the neighborhood found out about him; he’d be toast. And, most of all: What if my person discovered our shenanigans? We couldn’t keep this a secret forever!

I was so consumed with these worries that I practically ran smack into my person as I jumped up on the porch. “Hey Scruff” he said leaning down to scratch my ear, “What’s the hurry?” Then he stood up straight and scanned the yard. “And where’s little Mimi got off to?” Relieved from the trance of the ear scratch, I zipped past him into the house. Now what? If I couldn’t find food for the little guy, maybe he’d like my favorite chew toy! I was just about to dash off to the hiding spot under the bed when my nose stopped me. It told me to look up - and there across the room was my answer! My person’s food - on the table, obviously just waiting for me! Even from that distance my nose quivered with the delicious meaty smells, and the delicious bread smells, and even the green smells – yes! Also, delicious! My mouth watered so much I was certain I left a trail of mouthy drool on my way to the table. Standing on my hind legs, I stretched as far as I could, and then oh-so-carefully lifted the bready meat thing with my mouth from the table… It was still warm! And did I say there was meat?! Oh Boy!

In my life I’ve faced some difficult tests, and I’ve had to show some deep courage a few times. But the hardest thing I have ever had to do was to resist the maddening temptation to eat that food. All of it! Right there and then! But, I could NOT eat the food! It was for the pup. I had to keep telling myself, “don’t eat it – don’t eat it – don’t eat it” I repeated that command all the way to the open door. Peeking out, I saw no sign of my person. Good. Carefully slipping through the door and onto the porch, I again paused to look around. Still, my person was nowhere to be seen. Good again! Then, a quick scamper across the yard and I was at the bush. I was so relieved. Safe at last, the job was almost done! I still had to be careful to NOT-EAT-THE-FOOD! And, I’d made it this far without messing things up, so the last thing I was going to do was let the straggly old bush make me drop the food while I went through. I decided to turn around and back through the grabby branches. I knew I’d have plenty of room to turn around in the big space under the bush, so I pushed through tail-first. Then, wouldn’t you know it; after all my careful maneuvering, I still ended up dropping the food - right onto the dirt. It happened because as I turned around, my mouth had actually fallen open in shock and wonder.

There, in the big space under the bush, right next to Mimi, sat my person. He was gently stroking her head and ears while he looked at me, smiling sadly, “You know we can’t keep him, champ.” Still, I could only stare. How did he know? His smile widened a little as if he knew my thoughts, “I just followed your tracks”. Then he reached over and picked up the meaty-bready-food. “But at least we can make him more comfortable for now”. The pup should have been terrified of the big person. He’d probably never even seen one before. But he wasn’t. A little scared, sure; but not run-for-your-life scared. My person was so calm and reassuring. He gently pulled some of the meat from the food and placed it in front of the wary pup. One sniff and any hint of fear evaporated. It wasn’t that he ate the meat exactly, it was just gone. Chuckling softly my person said “Easy, little guy. Not so fast” and dropped a smaller piece in front of him – being careful to keep track of his fingers! A quick flash of those needle sharp teeth and again, the food vanished. My person looked at the pup for a long minute before turning and offering some meat and bread to Mimi, and then to me. Of course, we both showed our excellent manners by accepting the food ever so gently. “You’re such good dogs” he said in his soft whisper voice, giving us both nice deep ear scratches. “But what are we going to do?” He sighed deeply, considering the young wild thing now sleeping soundly in the warm protective curve of Mimi’s body. “Whatever are we going to do…?” I lay down with my snout on my paws and looked up at him; confident that he’d think of something. Turns out, I thought of something first. Unfortunately … “it turned out to be a bad idea!”
