Warm and cool colours• Warm colours — such as red, yellow, and

orange; give warmth because they remind us of things like the sun or fire.

• Cool colours — such as blue, green, andpurple (violet); give a cool feeling because they remind us of things like water or grass.

Warm and cool colours• Today, we are going to create a piece of

artwork that uses warm colours and cool colours.

• Have a look on the next slide to see what we will be creating!

Warm and cool colours activity• First, using a pencil, draw around your hand once or

twice on a piece of plain paper or card.

• Next, draw a pattern using lines all over your page (it must go over the hands too). You can use straight lines, curved lines, zig zags or you could start by drawing a shape (like a circle) and keep making it bigger…it’s up to you! Just make sure the spaces in between the lines are big enough for you to colour in. For inspiration, have a look on the previous slide for some ideas.

Warm and cool colours activity• After that, decide which colours you are going to use

for your hand. You can use warm colours or cool colours. You are then going to use the other colours for the background (so, if you decide to use warm colours for your hand, you will use cool colours for the background).

• Then, you are going to colour in your picture. You can use coloured pencils, crayons, paint, felt tips…whatever you want! If possible, try not to have two touching sections the same colour (if you have coloured one section in green, the sections touching/next to that section will be coloured in a different colour).

Warm and cool colours activity• Once you have created your artwork, post it onto

Seesaw so we can see your fantastic artwork!

• Additional activity –

Why not have a go at creating another warm and cool picture? If you used warm colours for the hand last time, you could try using cool colours this time. You could try a different pattern or using more/less hands. You could try using something different to add colour to your picture
