The Scottish Baroque Ensemble, a 13-member string group from Edinburgh,Scotland will tour four major Texascities in late February and early March,as an official British tribute to the Ameri-can Bicentennial.

These concerts will mark theAmerican debut of the SBE and will beits only North American appearancesthis season.
The Scottish Baroque Ensemble, nowin its eighth season, was founded byviolinist Leonard Friedman. It is mod-elled on the orchestras of the 18th Cen-tury and performs without a conductor.

This huge component of mining equipment was the last piece of cargo, tobe loaded aboard the Lloyd Brasilelro vessel ITAQUALIA recently for ship-ment to the mining complex of CIA Vale Do Rio Voce in Vitoria, Brazil.Longshoremen worked in a pouring rain to get the cargo loaded beforescheduled sailing time. The M/T BOW FORTUNE made her maiden voyage to the Port of Houstonrecently as the first of 11 new tankers owned and operated by OdfjeffWestfaI-Larsen Tankers. The company had approximately 65 sailings to thePort in 1975 and many of the new ships will be calling this year. IndustriesBuildingOnChannelOne big petrochemical plant will be constructed and two
others expanded along the Houston Ship Channel, accordingto plans just announced.
Lonza, Inc., will start construction in mid-February on a$30 million plant at Bayport to produce the raw materials forpaint pharmaceutical and agrichemical industries. The plantwill occupy 15 of 216 acres Lonza owns in Bayport and this isthe forerunner of a giant petrochemical complex.
The Lonza plant will produce diketene, methyl and ethylacetoacetate and a wide range of acetoacet arylamides, all ofwhich Lonza has been supplying to the U.S. market for severalyears from its plants in Europe.
The DuPont Company is expanding its plant by 80 per centfor the production of butanediol and tertahydrofuran at itsplant near Barbours Cut. The first unit to go on stream willstart up in April. Further expansion is planned for completionin 1978.
U.S. Industrial Chemicals Co. is building a 600-million-pounds-a-year acetic acid plant at Deer Park. Production isexpected to start in 1979.

Tompkins is a graduate of the U. S.Merchant Marine Academy and theGeorgetown University Foreign ServiceSchool and has been a member of theLykes staff since 1945. He returned tothe U. Captain James E. Baker, also of Hous-ton, has been elected Assistant VicePresident of the West Gulf Division. Hehas served as Manager of the MarineDivision in the West Gulf since 1966.
A graduate of the U. S. MerchantMarine Academy, he served with theLykes sea-going organization from 1949until 1957 when he was transferredashore as Assistant Port Captain inHouston. In 1963 he was appointedAssistant to the Manager of the MarineDivision in the West Gulf, and a yearlater became Assistant Manager of theDivision.

sons group of London has been set up inHouston, offering a complete service forthe petroleum industry by providingfacilities for crating, marshalling, storageand rig up requirements.
The Houston Crating Company hastaken over a 12 acre site at 402 West 6thStreet, and the new plant will providepackaging and storage facilities for oiland gas equipment being shipped over-seas by freight forwarders.
