Turkey Facts
• More than 45 million turkeys are cooked and eaten in the
U.S. at Thanksgiving.
• In 2011,more than 248 million turkeys were raised.
• Age is a determining factor in taste. Old, large males are pref-
erable to young toms (males) as tom meat is stringy. The
Opposite is true for females: old hens are tougher birds.
• Turkeys have great hearing, but no external ears.
• They can also see in color, and have excellent visual acuity.
• Turkeys have a poor sense of smell, but an excellent sense of
taste.
• Turkeys sometimes spend the night in trees.
• Turkeys can have heart attacks.
• The ballroom dance known as the Turkey Trot was named
for the short, jerky steps a turkey makes.

TO: Isabella Co. Medical Care Facility,
I would like to THANK the staff of McLaren Hospital, and the ICMCF, for tak-
ing such excellent care of my father George C. Evans. He was sent to the ER
with two broken bones and a fractured hip. From there my dad was sent to MCF
(2nd floor for Rehab), not once did anyone in the facility make my family mem-
bers or I feel that we where a nuisance; we felt right at home.
Thank you, to all the nursing, rehab and dietary staff. You where all so
alert and on the ball when it came to my fathers dietary and swallowing issues.
Also THANK YOU to the nurse who caught my dads UTI, which was so crucial
he was scent to the ER. From there he was treated and scent back to MCF for
further excellent care.
I would like to give Alissa and Amy a big THANKS, for getting my dad
admitted to the facility with such short notice. Also Amy and the maintenance
dept. when my car died, and I needed a boost, Amy let them know there was a
residents family member who needed assistance in the parking lot, and they came
right to my rescue.
Thank you, to all the CNA’S who showed great skill and transferring
techniques, when it came to my dad feeling down and not wanting to move. You
showed great kindness and heart, and your teamwork was awesome. Also house-
keeping dept. for sewing my dad’s pants, and keeping his room so clean.
Morrison, your kitchen staff and food was excellent. The service your
staff gave my father and I was phenomenal. The environment you set is clean and
friendly, and it’s wonderful that residents family members can purchase a meal
also!! A big THANKS to Zanita for taking the time to set down with me and
make a meal plan out for my father.
I just want to THANK everyone from the bottom of my heart, for taking
such excellent care of my father. I have never experienced all staff members from
each department being so kind.
Thank you,
Judy Evans
