What are the three biggest issues in your campaign?

Your number one issue, and why? Accountability

From 1999 to 2007, I played a central role in closing the Rossdale power plant and preserving the Fort Edmonton Cemetery. From, that experience, I can state with certainty that the Mandel regime is neither fair, open nor decisive. Indeed, Mr. Good Striker watched as the city of Edmonton abruptly ended consultations with the descendents of Fort Edmonton and then secretly won a national award for their work. It’s time for Mayor Mandel and his council to recommit to openness in government. As a member of council, Mr. Good Striker will insist on transparency and take steps to force Epcor to fully disclose how city assets have been quietly transferred to a public entity called Capital Power (CPX:TSX). As well, Mr. Good Striker will pressure Mayor Mandel to show leadership with regards to the downtown arena issue. It’s time for citizens to know what negotiations are taking place with the Katz group and how much it will cost. Finally, Mr. Good Striker will ask for a review of consultation practices with Aboriginal peoples to confront city administrative and policing practices which are harmful to the Aboriginal community.

Number two issue, and why?Development of Expo Site

It’s time for the city to begin consultations with citizens with regards to the proposed Expo site. He now proposes an alternative vision of the Rossdale flats which will allow this historic site to return to its past as a gathering place for all peoples. He believes the development of green spaces near the downtown and the conversion of the power plant’s into a museum documenting our history would assist in downtown revitalization. Mr. Good Striker will work towards returning this historic cemetery to a beautified sacred space as promised by the city. The current rusted `stylized cross` `defacing this site will be an embarrassment to all Albertans.

Number three issue, and why? Environmental Responsibility

Its time for a greener Edmonton. Mr Good Striker is a green candidate with a long history of standing up for the environment and believes civic politicians have a civic duty to speak on issues affecting the Alberta environment. If elected, he will use his position on council to speak against the development of wetlands in the Oilsands, and other development practices across Alberta which are impacting the aquifer. On a local level, Mr. Good Striker proposes the city begin promoting innovative rainwater and ground water conservation practices within the city limits

Which should be a higher spending priority for council, LRT construction or road construction, and why?

• LRT construction. Its time for the city to begin working on the development of a world class transportation system to compliment and enhance the 2017 Expo bid. Mr. Good Striker invites the community to think big! He proposes a metro link between the University, Whyte Avenue and Jasper Avenue. This would require the construction of a new bridge linking these business districts. Renovating the High Level bridge to accommodate an efficient trolley line may be an inexpensive alternative.

City council has turned down a motion to hold a non-binding plebiscite on keeping the City Centre Airport as a general aviation facility. Should the new council reopen the airport issue?

Yes. Its time for Mayor Mandel to respect the democratic rights of all citizens and allow a referendum. Development of airport lands is a classic case of short term gain for a select few land speculators/developers but at the expense of long term pain for the city. Mr. Good Striker proposes that further study is required to determine the true business cost of relinquishing Edmonton’s historic role as transportation hub to the north.
