1. Welcome and Roll Call

2. Opening Remarks by Steven Meeks

3. Review and Approval of Minutes: February General Board Meeting - Approved

4. Treasurer’s Report: Monthly Expenditure Report for February - One large expense for

overdue business cards dating back from 2011 through present.

5. Senior Lead Officer: Ana Maria Mejia - There have been shootings and homicides in

Jefferson Park and at the intersection of Normandie and Adams. There will be a special

meeting to address these on Tuesday 3/22. There have also been cleanups for RV’s parked on residential streets. You can contact your council office to ask them to put no

 parking signs on your streets for vehicles of certain weights or heights.

6. Councilman Herb Wesson’s Office Update: Kimani Black - There will be a community

cleanup and shredding event at 3888 Crenshaw Blvd on Saturday from 9 AM to 1 PM.

7. Department of Neighborhood Empowerment Representative: Neighborhood council

elections are this year, if someone wants to be a candidate they have to prove they are a

stakeholder in the area and they need to register by April 19th.

8. Public Comment (limited to 2 minutes per speaker):

a. Speaker 1 - 300 jobs were offered during the job fairs in our area. On May 21st

there will be a health fair at the Baldwin Hills Plaza.b. Speaker 2 - We need more help getting rid of the RVs on Virginia Rd.

c. Speaker 3 - We need to support the solar resolution from the mayor.

d. Speaker 4 - There are remaining sections of the Crenshaw line that are still

above ground and we should fight to have them moved underground like we did

with the rest of the line.

9. Standing Committee Reports:

10. Presentation: Ron Macias – Metro Construction Relations – regarding issue of tree

replacement in the Crenshaw area (30 mins): Tree replacement will be planting trees on

Crenshaw, beginning with Crenshaw at Jefferson and at Adams. The will focus on using

trees that will not destroy sidewalks as they grow. The only recommended tree on the

current StreetScape plan is the California Ironwood. You can see the entire presentation

11. Presentation: Danielle Horton – News from the Mayor’s Office (10 mins)

12. Presentation: Chin Thammasaengsri – Battalion Coordinator for CERT—introduction

and talk regarding Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) (7 Mins): CERT is

an all volunteer disaster response team that is trained and overseen by the LAFD.

a. Update and discussion on 2016 West Adams Neighborhood Council

Elections: Elections will happen this summer, candidates must register by April

19th. There will be a special meeting amongst the council to discuss a possible

venue change.

b. Update and discussion on Earth Day Festival/ Clean Up: There will be an

Earth Day Festival on Saturday April 23rd at the park at Clyde and Boden. Thisevent will have a focus on education.

c. Update and discussion on Rancho Park Playground Clean Up: There will be

a cleanup at the Rancho Park on May 21st from 1pm to 4pm.

d. Discussion and possible action on WANC promotional grocery bag

purchase amendment not to exceed an additional $400: Added for fees and

taxes from the initial order. Approved.

e. Discussion and possible action on Elections Day budget amendment for

canopy rental not to exceed $400 (not an increase): These funds were

originally for refreshments but are being reallocated. There is no increase in

funds. Approved. 14. New Business:

a. Discussion and possible action on postage and mailing of 10,000 postcards

not to exceed $1200: Approved.

b. Discussion and possible action on filing a Community Impact Statement to

support the pro-solar principles outlined in Mayor Garcetti’s Sustainable

City plan and urges the City to achieve 1,500 megawatts of local solar

photovoltaic by 2025: The council decided that they need the information in

more simple terms before they vote. This was tabled until the next meeting.
