What is an Employee Family Assistance Program (EFAP)?

What types of services are offered? Marriage Addictions (alcohol, drugs, gambling) Anger Management Depression Child and Adolescent Behavior Anxiety Sexuality Greif and Loss
Burn out and Stress in the Workplace occurs when a person has been stressed for a prolonged period of time and becomes emotionally and physically drained as a
consequence.
Learning how to manage your stress is one of the most important steps you can take to prevent burnout. Many people find counselling helpful in turning around negative thinking

An EFAP can address a variety of Mental Health issues which may jeopardize the efficiency and effectiveness of an employee, and the safety of the workplace.

Who is covered? Employees Partners and dependents At no Cost usually includes those on the employees

Is the EFAP confidential? No identifying information will reach
employer or anyone else at work site employer only gets to know usage
statistics i.e. how many individuals accessed services (no personal information)- as such asked to identify your employer when you initially make appointment
Any information to be released requires your signed consent (i.e. if you want to show physician your file)
What kind of coverage do we have?
Most often Walmsley contracts are eight sessions per family Not on yearly basis Per Contact Basis: Get a maximum of eight sessions and a
new issue arises then generally given another 8 sessions Intent is for Brief Service- client's with longer term issues
will be referred to community resources

Clients are seen within individual private offices
Online servicesThis includes services by webcam, chat,
email, or telephone- Fact sheet- for a variety of topics i.e.
depression, anxiety, loneliness-Self help resources
- Counsellor info and bio's- lists their education and professional associations- Online tests and assessments available
i.e. anger, stress, wellbeing, depression etc.

Wellness Workshops
Mini-wellness workshops available on a variety of topics i.e. depression, stress, wellness
think of a topic and the format i.e. lunch and learn, staff meeting, after work, during work
