Our ongoing focus is and should be to ensure that all students feel safe, are happy and are evidently learning and progressing. Wallington has an Annual Improvement Plan which outlines some clear targets for attention, one of which is Numeracy and it will be supported by Mrs Emily Duckett in her role as a Learning Specialist. 2019 Preps Today was the first day for our new Preps. Strawberry Fair Meeting Tuesday 4 th February @ 7pm Preparations for the Strawberry Fair are ramping up as there is 4 weeks to go! Keep an eye out for the online rosters and requests for help. Novel Coronavirus Advice Please find attached advice from the Dept. of Education regarding the Novel coronavirus outbreak. It contains important advice to contain the spread of this virus. Wallington is a Sunsmart School As a Sunsmart school we ensure that our students wear their broad brimmed hats during Terms 1 and 4. Those children with- out a hat will be restricted to the imagination station. Assembly on Friday Our first assembly will be Friday 7 th Feb. The Grade 6 student leaders will commence and the preps and new students to the school will be presented to the school by the grade 6 students and other class representatives. Student Supervision Before and After School Department of Education & Training policy requires our school grounds to be supervised 10 minutes before classes commence and 10 minutes after classes are dismissed each day (so from 8:50am and until 3:40pm). Staff are scheduled on to supervise the school grounds accordingly each day. Students who are at school earlier or later than the supervised times, should be enrolled in the Before and After School Care Program (contact Woodlands House, who provide this service at Wallington). We inform students that if parents are running late to pick them up after school, they should report to the General Office. Student Absence Policy All student absences from school must be explained and communicated to the school. Schooling is compulsory for children aged from 6-17 years, unless formal exemption has been sought and granted. All absences need to be explained and schools are expected to determine if the explanation provided is a reasonable excuse for the purposes of the parent meeting their responsibilities under the Education and Training Reform Act 2006. Schools must maintain attendance records, identify and follow up unexplained absences, and develop policies to support and maintain attendance. We appreciate parents diligently informing us about all student absences and we are required to contact parents in cases where such contact from home has not been made. Maximising student attendance and hence achievement is the goal for all. Continuity of learning and in relationships is so beneficial for young students. Absences can be communicated via student diary or Skoolbag app (see over for details on Skoolbag download). Our preps enjoying their first day at school.

30th January 2020

Welcome to the 2020 School Year Another school year has kicked off with great excitement, enthusiasm and goodwill.

Teachers and Support Staff have been back at work early prepar-ing for the return of students - preparing classrooms together with a host of administrative matters which needed to be completed.

Students have commenced classes and the ‘feeling’ around the learning communities has been settled and focused. We have welcomed some new students who have transferred from other schools and hope they can settle into Mano routines and expectations smoothly.

In 2020 welcome Miss Taylah Crompton to the school and you will now notice Gail Lewis working in the office on Wednesdays.

Together as a school community we can and will achieve great things throughout 2020.

They all did a fantastic job of settling into school life and had a fun day with their teachers and new friends. Strawberry Fair Meeting Tuesday 4th February @ 7pm Preparations for the Strawberry Fair are ramping up as there is 4 weeks to go! Keep an eye out for the online rosters and requests for help.

Novel Coronavirus Advice Please find attached advice from the Dept. of Education regarding the Novel coronavirus outbreak. It contains important advice to contain the spread of this virus.
