LEARNING RESOURCES CENTERS SYSTEM
The Learning Resources Centers System (LRC)
provides a current collection of resources and
services to faculty, staff, and students to support
college and lifelong learning.
The LRC collection includes approximately
40,000 print format books, 150,000 e-books,100
print periodical titles, and 1,300 audiovisual
resources.
In addition, approximately 60 online electronic
databases are available to all Wallace
Community College students.

SERVICES AND PROGRAMS AVAILABLE
Computers and Information
Technologies
Available for use by faculty, staff, and
students
First come, first-served basis
Print cards necessary for computer printing
Print cards can be purchased at the LRC and the
bookstore on both campuses.
Circulating Books
Available for check-out for up to four weeks
by students
Renewable if not placed on hold by another
student
Limit of four books per student
Periodicals
Print format periodicals available for in-house use only
Listing of current print periodicals and back issues available at each location and on the LRC
home page
Alabama Virtual Library
Thousands of magazines and journals available online through the Alabama Virtual Library
(AVL). Many of these sources contain full-text articles.
Remote access of AVL available from WCC home page
Passwords are not required for most in-state users. It is recommended that students apply for an AVL password card on the LRC homepage. The cards may be picked up at the
LRC desk.
Reference Services
Available primarily for students, faculty, and staff of WCC
Staff assistance during LRC hours
Print format reference materials available for LRC in-house use only
Online reference assistance available during LRC hours through the “Ask a Librarian” link
located on the LRC home page
Reserve Materials
Located near the circulation desk at each location
Limited check-out terms for some items

Interlibrary Loan
Offers the opportunity to borrow books from
local libraries through written cooperative
agreements
LRC Orientation
Offers research skills instruction for classes
and individuals upon request
Media Software
Available for up to one-week check-out with a
refundable $5.00 deposit per item
Limit of two items per patron
EBSCO E-Books
Provides access to over 150,000 digital format
books through the EBSCO E-Books database
