Wall Panelling for many century's have been

made in Great Britain by Guild Master

Craftsmen have been made with traditional mortiseand tenon joint on every joint were the wall panel-

ling horizontal and vertical frame members meet .

This traditional mortise and

tenon jointing method has been

so successful that we can see

Many fine examples of WallPanelled rooms that were

completed over the last 600 years

by our forefathers.

Each Mortise and Tenon Joint is completed by

skilled craftsmen is a tight fit between the mortiseand tenon. In a room of Tudor Panelling there can

be between 200 to 300 mortise and tenon joints for a

skilled craftsmen to complete and therefore is time

consuming But it is the only way craftsmen should

construct wall panelling that is rigid and were the

frame members are stopped from twisting or

warping on the joints By the mortise and Tenon .

Butt and dowel and modern Joint mechanical pin and strip

joining systems are not suitable for making wall panelling

because they hold only a small area of the 2 frame members

they allow the frame members to move and rack.

The Woodcarvers Guild use the Traditional Time Provenmethod that produces strong rigid panelling with a mortiseand tenon on every joint.
