Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

You being your game waking up in a cave, the first thing you will do is

name your lead character. Personally I prefer to go with the default name

of the character so for this walkthrough I will refer to the main character

as Luneth as well as all other characters you meet by their default names.

Altar Cave

Enemies - Goblin, Carbuncle, Blue Wisp, Eye Fang, Land Turtle

(BOSS)

Items - Leather Shield, 3x Potions, 3x Longswords, 2x Antarctic

Winds, Sleep (spell), Bronze Knuckles, 2x Bronze Bracers, Leather

Cap

As soon as you are done with that you will enter your first battle with three

Goblins, they are easily taken care of and should each fall with one attack.

When they are all dead and you return to the map and head up opening

both chests for a Leather Shield and a Potion, next head up to see an out

of place boulder, follow the instructions to open a new path to the right

then head through and open another chest for a Longsword then head

through the opening.

In the next screen, head over to the right for another Potion then head back

and over to the left for an Antarctic Wind. When you have both head up

at the crossroad and pick up the Potion in the chest then head to the right

and collect another Antarctic Wind, if you continue to the right you will

find a wellspring to heal with. With that done head over to the left now

and through the doorway to face a new enemy

!!!!!BOSS BATTLE!!!!!

Land Turtle

HP : 111

EXP : 20

Gil : 500

Page 2: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

A simple boss to start the game off with, simply use one of the Antarctic

Winds you found earlier and you should kill it in one hit, if not then one

or two follow up attacks should do the trick.

After the fight a scene will play out and you will be told you are the

'Chosen One'. After the scene you will be placed outside Altar Cave, head

back inside though and head down and to the right at the first fork,

although it looks like a dead end you can continue through the wall to find

two more chests with a Leather Cap and Bronze Bracers inside, head back

to the fork and continue down to find a bunch of chests, all together you

can find Bronze Knuckles, 2x Longswords, Bronze Bracers and the Sleep

spell. With everything collected head back outside (if you fall through the

hole in the middle of the floor you will just land back where you initially

started in the caves.

World Map

Enemies - Killer Bee, Werewolf, Berserker

Village of Ur

Items - 3x Potions, Phoenix Down, Longsword, Eye Drops, 2x

Antidotes, Cure (spell), Dagger.

When you enter Ur, head straight over to the right and up a small side path

to see a small scene where you will meet a new character named Arc.

After that is done, head up into the top left hand corner of the village,

inside the house search two of the pots for an Antidote in each then inspect

the rightmost candlestick to open a hidden area, head through and up the

stairs to find a stash of five chests containing a Longsword, Eye Drops,

Cure, Dagger and Phoenix Down. In the southeast corner of the village

you can find a well, talk to the woman here and she will tell you to take

the Potions in the well for your journey so enter the well and open up the

three chests to get 3x Potions. After you've picked those up head to the

southwest most house and enter. Inside to your left and right will be two

Page 3: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

wellsprings, when you're healthy head through the central door and speak

to the elder in the next room to advance the story.

When you come back outside it will be time to do some shopping, locate

each shop by the signs above the door, each will be selling the following

-

Item Store/Inn -

Potion - 50 Gil

Eye Drops - 40 Gil

Antidote - 80 Gil

Armour Store -

Leather Armour - 90 Gil

Leather Shield - 40 Gil

Leather Cap - 15 Gil

Bronze Bracers - 80 Gil

Weapon Store -

Dagger - 60 Gil

Longsword - 100 Gil

Staff - 40 Gil

Bow - 100 Gil

Wooden Arrow - 4 Gil

Magic Store -

Poisona - 100 Gil

Once you are ready, head to the exit and on the world map walk down to

the next town.

Kazus Town

Items - Mythril Helm, Leather Shield, Zeus' Wrath

Page 4: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

As soon as you enter, speak to Arc just to your right, once the little scene

plays out Arc will join your party, be sure to equip them with anything

you may have purchased in Ur. Head over to the Inn for the time being

(you can enter the other building but the NPCs will be unavailable for

now) and inside speak to the character outline beside the bar (you'll know

if it's the right one). Head into the house above the inn and in a pot, top

left in the house you can find a Potion.

Back outside head towards the exit, once you reach the house with the

blue roof head to the left to find a path between the trees, follow the path

to a lake and walk around to the north end it, search the trees here to find

a Mythril Helm and a Staff then just behind a small group of the trees the

hidden path continues, interact with the trees here towards a dead end and

one will give you Zeus’s Wrath.

Once you have all your items you can exit Kazus and head to the patch of

land to the left where you will enter the airship, once inside make your

way to the wheel and meet a new character, Refia. After some dialogue

you will have your next destination, interact with the wheel once you have

control and the airship will burst from the ground, fly over to the

northwest and land in front of your next area.

Castle Sasune

Enemies - Dark Eye, Red Wisp, Griffon,

Items - 3x Wooden Arrow, 2x Holy Arrow, Wightslayer, Potion,

Bow, Phoenix Down, 2,000 Gil, Leather Shield, Bronze Knuckles,

Blizzard (Spell)

When you arrive you will encounter somebody at the castle gates, once

you have spoken with them you will head inside. Walk around to the left

of the large building in front of you to find a tower, go inside and head up

the first two floors, on the third you will find two chests with a Holy

Arrow and Wooden Arrow inside, once you have them head up to the top

floor to find another chest, inside you will find the Wightslayer weapon

but it will also trigger an optional mini-boss fight with a Griffon, it isn't

Page 5: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

too bad as you can survive a couple of hits at a time, just keep an eye on

your HP and heal when you have less than 30HP left, the Griffon has

230HP so just tough it out and you should survive. When you are ready

head back out to the main castle area and this time enter the tower on the

right-hand side, in here you will find no enemies so you can walk around

freely and find five chests in total holding 2x Wooden Arrows, Holy

Arrow, Potion and a Bow, when you have everything you can enter the

door at the main castle entrance.

When you get inside head up the stairs to the next room, when you enter

on your left you will see a bit of the wall that looks damaged, you can pass

through here to find a chest with Phoenix Down inside. On the right of

where you entered will be another broken wall, go through and take the

down stairs first, in the next room will be two chests with 1,000 Gil in

each, head back up stairs and up the next lot, follow the path around to

two more chests with a Leather Shield and the Blizzard spell inside then

head through another broken wall to be seemingly outside the map, head

up then right towards a room with one more chest holding Bronze

Knuckles, when you have everything make your way back to the entrance,

head up the next few lots of stairs to the main hall and approach the king

and the other character you met for a scene, at the end of which you will

have your final character, Ingus and your next goal, when you are ready

head out of the castle to the world map, hop in your airship and fly to the

north east to a cave on the other side of a lake.

Sealed Cave

Enemies - Mummy, Skeleton, Zombie, Cursed Copper, Shadow,

Larva, Revenant, Djinn (BOSS).

Items - Potion, Cure (spell), 500 Gil, Antarctic Wind

Inside the cave, follow the path straight down, continue in the same

direction when you reach the fork and at the end of the path you will find

a Potion then head back up and take the path on the right, follow this while

sticking to the north wall and when an opening appears enter to find a

Page 6: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

chest with the Cure spell inside then head back out and follow the path

until you find the stairs to the next level.

In the next room head just down to your left to find a chest with 500 Gil

inside then head into the top right-hand corner and interact with the skull

to open a path, follow it to find the princess, after a small scene Princess

Sara will join your group, when you are ready head down the next set of

stairs.

In the new room follow the path until you reach a fork, when you do take

the southern trail to a dead end with a chest holding an Antarctic Wind

then head back and take the northern path, follow it around to a room with

Eye Drops inside a chest, before going any further, take the Blizzard spell

in your inventory and equip it to one of your characters, when you have

done that continue following the path until you reach the end.

!!!!!BOSS BATTLE!!!!!

Djinn

HP : 600

EXP : 200

Gil : 1,400

Weakness : Ice, Water

Drops : Common - Potion, Uncommon/Rare - Bomb Arm

The Djinn isn't a terribly tough boss to take down, have the character you

equipped before use Blizzard just once and another use and

Arctic/Antarctic Wind, this should do a tremendous amount of damage,

after that just use some melee attacks whilst keeping up your health if

need be and you should get through it just fine.

With the battle over, you and your companions will be transported back

to the cave with the large crystal inside and after a bunch of scenes you

will finally obtain your first set of Jobs as well as unlock

Page 7: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

Gone Adventuring with the Wind5 (5)

??????? (Secret)

Unlocked by 731 tracked gamers (99% - TA Ratio = 1.00)735

The Jobs you will unlock are Warrior, White Mage, Black Mage, Red

Mage and Thief. For this walkthrough I will go with a team of Warrior,

White Mage, Black Mage and Thief.

With all of that done, equip the jobs however you like, you will also need

to reassign equipment and then exit the cave from the warp point to the

north then head back to Sasune Castle. After a few small scenes here you

will cleanse the curse and be given a magical folding canoe, allowing you

to cross water and retrieve your airship once more. With everything done

here, head back to the south-east town of Kazus.

As you enter, Refia will have a small scene with her father, after that head

into the town, now that you finally have access to the stores here is a

breakdown of what you can purchase, I would hold off buying a Mythril

Sword as you will be picking up two very shortly -

Magic Store

Fire - 100 Gil

Blizzard - 100 Gil

Sleep - 100 Gil

Weapon Store

Mythril Rod - 400 Gil

Mythril Knife - 500 Gil

Mythril Sword - 500 Gil

Page 8: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

Armour Store

Mythril Armour - 350 Gil

Mythril Shield - 180 Gil

Mythril Helm - 130 Gil

Mythril Gloves - 120

Mythril Bracers - 120 Gil

Inn/Item Store

Potion - 50 Gil

Eye Drops - 40 Gil

Antidote - 80 Gil

When you are ready, speak to Cid standing by the bar inside the Inn and

he will ask you to take him back home to Canaan and will also join your

party as a follower/NPC, after that head into the house above the Inn to

find Refia and her father for another scene. When you can, head out of

town and onto the airship for another scene then land it again and head

into Kazus and up to the north-east part of town to enter the mine.

Mythril Mine

Enemies - Skeleton, Cursed Copper, Shadow, Larva, Revenant

Items - Mythril Sword x2

This is a quick little area, run through until you reach a dead end and tap

the screen to examine a section of the wall just under the lamp post in the

top left corner to reveal a hidden path, follow this through and at the end

you will find two chests, each with a Mythril Sword inside, when you

have them exit the mines and the town then hop onto the airship and fly

to the west into the large boulder blocking the path to start another scene,

now that you have no airship simply walk a little to the south-east and

enter the next town.

Canaan

Page 9: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

Items - Elixir, Blind Spell, Phoenix Down x3, Gold Needle, Iron

Arrow, Great Bow, Gnomish Bread x2, Potion, 2,000 Gil x2

Once inside a scene will play out with Cid, when you have control we will

get a little side quest out of the way for a big reward. From the town

entrance head up to the north-east part of town where you will find some

steps leading to a higher elevated area, here look for another set of stairs

and take them into the river. Follow the river down a waterfall and all the

way to the south-east to find a chest with an Elixir inside, when you have

it walk back the way you came (yes UP a waterfall because f*** physics)

then head to the north-western most house and enter.

Once inside head to the bed in the top left corner to see Cid with his ill

wife, interact with her and give her the elixir you just found, Cid will be

grateful for healing his wife and will tell you how to access his hangar (by

interacting with the lamp on the wall). Do as Cid says and take the hidden

path into his hangar and collect the following items - Blind (spell),

Phoenix Down x3, Gold Needle, Iron Arrow, Great Bow, Gnomish Bread

x2, Potion and 2,000 Gil x2. To find the final four chests walk into the

water with the steps and take the steps out of the water on the other side

and walk directly into the wall to find another hidden path, when you have

everything head out and if you like you can do some shopping, here is

what you can find.

Magic Store

Cure - 100 Gil

Thunder - 700 Gil

Poison - 700 Gil

Blind - 700 Gil

Weapon Store

Mythril Rod - 400 Gil

Mythril Knife - 500 Gil

Mythril Sword - 500 Gil

Page 10: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

Great Bow - 1,200 Gil

Iron Arrow - 8 Gil

Armour Store

Mythril Armour - 350 Gil

Mythril Shield - 180 Gil

Mythril Helm - 130 Gil

Mythril Gloves - 120 Gil

Mythril Bracers - 120 Gil

Inn/Item Store

Potion - 50 Gil

Eye Drops - 40 Gil

Antidote - 80 Gil

Echo Herbs - 100 Gil

Gold Needle - 100 Gil

Rest - 40 Gil

I suggest you at least buy a few Gold Needles at the item store for the next

area then head into the house connected to the inn and interact with the

woman on the bed to progress the story, when you are ready leave the

town and enter the mountain area just to the right of Canaan.

Dragon's Peak

Enemies - Firefly, Helldiver, Rustbird, Rukh

Items - Phoenix Down, Aero (spell), Gold Needle

Two of the enemies here (Rustbird and Rukh) have the ability to petrify,

hence the suggestion of buying Gold Needles so be wary when fighting

them. Follow the path and at the first fork head south and collect a Phoenix

Down for the chest then head back north and at the next fork take a quick

right then head up to get the Aero spell. Head back to the second fork and

take the left hand path until a third split in the road and continue straight

ahead to pick up a Gold Needle then return to the fork. Before proceeding

Page 11: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

north from here to continue the story I suggest making sure you have all

Bestiary entries up to this point as you will not be returning for a bit and

it's better to do so now before you forget, whenever you are ready take the

path leading up to the next area.

As you walk up the hill you will come face to face with the dragon who

will take you to its nest, when there speak to Desch, the man in the top

left corner and after some dialogue you will be attacked by Bahamut,

though this really isn't a battle as you cannot win here, just use the 'Run

Away' or 'Flee' options to exit the battle after which Desch will give you

the spell Mini and you will jump off of the mountain and into a new area

on the world map.

World Map

Enemies - Werewolf, Berserker, Basilisk, Bugbear, Mandrake

When you regain control, head down and when you reach the patch of

forest you will enter the Healing Copse, use the water here to heal up then

equip and use the Mini spell on all your characters (you will likely need

to restore with water a couple times). When you are ready exit and then

head south-west where you can find a village in another patch of forest, if

you want to try fight the three new enemies for your Bestiary entries then

be sure to use magic as your miniature size will see your physical attacks

deal only 1 damage per hit, when you are ready head into the patch of

forest to find the next town.

Tozus

Items - Mythril Bracers, Fire Staff, Fira (spell), Cura (spell).

Phoenix Down x2

To start there is only a magic store and an inn here; this is what they have

to offer

Magic Store

Fire - 100 Gil

Page 12: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

Blizzard - 100 Gil

Sleep - 100 Gil

Thunder - 700 Gil

Poison - 700 Gil

Blind - 700 Gil

Aero - 700 Gil

Inn/Item Store

Potion - 50 Gil

Eye Drops - 40 Gil

Antidote - 80 Gil

Stay/Rest - 80 Gil

For a small section coming up I suggest making sure you at least equip

one other character with an offensive spell (Blizzard or Fire will do) and

make them a Black Mage, in a store just under the inn you can also buy

some Gnomish Bread for 200 Gil a piece, this item allows you to see more

of the world map when used there. In Tozus you will see a Moogle

walking about, this guy is an important character for a game long side

quest, whenever you see a Moogle interact with it using each of your

characters as the leader of the party one at a time to receive letters sent to

them from NPCs in the game, make sure to do with EVERY time you see

a Moogle. When you are all done you can head into the north-eastern

house and look for a man resting in bed, interact with him and give him

an antidote, as a reward for your help he will open a secret passage for

you. Before heading down the newly revealed path interact with the man’s

desk, both bookshelves and the pots in one of the corners to receive

Mythril Bracers, Fire Staff, Fira (spell) and Cura (spell), head down the

new path and after some stairs there will be two chests each with a

Phoenix Down inside then head down again for the next area.

Tozus Tunnels

Enemies - Leprechaun, Darkface

Page 13: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

Not a large area, there are no chest here so you can run straight through,

be sure to change one of your characters to a Black Wizard so you can

have two spell casters dealing damage as your size will still effect any

physical damage you deal out.

When you exit the cave, head north and into another for the next area.

Viking's Cove

Items - Viking Axe, Spark Dagger, Blizzara (spell), Fira (spell),

Thundara (spell), 3,000 Gil

Head through the cave and when you come to the first open area with a

viking inside head to the right and in the bottom corner you can navigate

through the wall to reach the chest here with a Spark Dagger. From here

head up and there will be some stairs, the door on the left leads to an inn

with an item and magic store inside but nothing new for you to purchase,

use the inn if you need to but don't worry about changing your characters

size yet as you will need to stay small to get into the next area, when you

are ready head out and up the stairs to the next room.

Go left in the new room and you will be able to pass through another room

where you can find some stairs, in the next room they take you to you will

be able to get the Viking Axe and 3,000 Gil from a couple of chests, to

the right of them should you need it you can use the water to revive any

fallen characters.

Head back to the previous room and now go right, just before the Moogle

is another hole in the wall, follow it into a room where you will find three

chests containing Thundara, Blizzara and Fira, head back to the Moogle

and check for more letters then head south at the split in the road and speak

to the viking there for a scene then head north and out of the cave to the

world map.

First thing is first DO NOT board the ship to your left as you leave Viking

Cove, doing so will force you into battle with a creature called Nepto

Dragon and it is a battle you cannot win (it does 6,000+ damage a hit and

Page 14: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

has 60,000+ HP). Instead, head north-west to reach a building on the map,

enter it for the next dungeon.

Nepto Temple

Enemies - Petit, Poison Bat, Lilliputian, Were rat, Bloodworm,

BOSS.

Items - Shell Armour, Shell Helm, Serpent Sword

Walk up the path ahead to the statue of the Nepto Dragon, after a scene if

you are still mini you can walk into the mouth of the statue and enter the

dungeon where you will remain mini as you cannot change to normal size.

Follow the path to your right until you come to an area with two holes in

the ground, fall through the one on the left to find a room with Shell

Armour and a Shell Helm inside two chests then take the stairs out and go

down the other.

Head through the new room and grab the Serpent Sword from the chest

you can see quite easily, continue into the next room and before heading

any further make sure that your Black mage has one of or all of the

Blizz/Thunda/Fira spells equipped and your White Mage has Aero then

heal up your party and head to the end of the path where you fight the

boss.

!!!!!!!!!!BOSS BATTLE!!!!!!!!!!

Giant Rat

HP - 900

EXP - 300

Gil - 1,500

Weakness - None

Drops - Common - Potion, Bomb Fragment, and Antarctic Wind.

Uncommon - Zeus's Wrath, Silence Seal. Rare - Tranquilizer,

Angel's Sigh

Page 15: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

This boss isn't too much trouble but as with other battles leading up to it

your physical attackers will be quite useless, open up the battle with your

Black Mages strangest spell then gradually work back to the level 1 spells,

with your White Mage use Aero as many times as you are able whilst

healing in between when needed, once your Aero reserves are empty just

focus on healing. If the battle is taking a while and you are struggling try

using one of the spell items like Antarctic Wind with a physical attack

character for some extra damage.

When the boss has been defeated take the gem and head out to the temple

entrance the way you came in and place the gem back in its socket on the

statue, a scene will play out for you and you will be able to return to

Viking's Cove where you can speak with the viking from before and he

will reward you with his ship, the Enterprise, you can now use it freely

without being attacked by the Nepto Dragon, the Nepto Dragon will also

be added to your Bestiary without having to do battle with it.

World Map

Before heading to the next few towns it might be worth your time to start

hunting the monsters you can find around the world map, trying to

describe where to find them would be quite a pain so I have created a map

and will list each of the monsters here with a corresponding colour to

show where you can find them, some will be grouped together as they are

found in the same area, you can also use the map as a future reference for

the locations of towns etc.

Map

Killer Fish, Hermit, Sea Elemental, Tangie, Sahagin - Light Blue

Parademon, Griffon, Lynx, Hornet, Red Cap - Green

Knocker, Flyer Lizardman, Gorgon - Purple

Slime, Tarantula - Red

Cuphgel - Black

Barometz - Pink

Page 16: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

You should be able to handle all of these enemies with a party over level

13-14, all can be reached by walking as there is a whirlpool blocking your

ship from leaving the Inner Ocean area for now.

When you have everything, make your way to the town of Tokkul.

Tokkul

Items - Ice Staff, Sonic Knuckles, Kenpo Gi, Bacchus' Cider, Great

Bow, Serpent Sword

In the town, if you try to speak to anybody they will likely run away in

fear. Head into the first house you see and follow a boy through the

doorway to find him being guarded by a woman, speak to her for a small

scene then leave the house. On the left will be a Moogle for you to check

for any new letters, from the Moogle go to the left side of the house with

the orange roof and interact with the barrel and crate on the side of the

house to find a Bacchus' Cider then do the same for another orange roofed

house just above it to the left for a Great Bow.

Head into the northernmost house and inside go into the fireplace where

you can find two chests, one with a Kenpo Gi and the other with a Serpent

Sword then search the pots in the corner for Sonic Knuckles, when you

have everything head outside again. Finally on the right side of the village

in the top corner if you interact with a tree in that area you can find the

Ice Staff, once you have it you can leave as there is nothing else to find

here, from Tokkul make your way west to find another town on the other

side of a forest.

Village of the Ancients

While there are no chests or loose items here, there are a group of stores,

here are their wares

Armour Store

Shell Armour - 1,250 Gil

Flame Mail - 2,400 Gil

Page 17: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

Headband - 1,200 Gil

Kenpo Gi - 2,000 Gil

Mage Robe - 2,000 Gil

I suggest at least buying a Mage Robe, you don't need two as you will get

a free one soon.

Weapon Store

Serpent Sword - 1,500 Gil

Fire Staff - 3,500 Gil

Ice Staff - 3,500 Gil

Light Staff - 3,500 Gil

Killer Bow - 4,000

Fire Arrow - 150 Gil

Ice Arrow - 150 Gil

Light Arrow - 150 Gil

Nothing that you desperately need right now.

Magic Store

Sight - 100 Gil

Fire - 1,500 Gil

Blizzara - 1,500 Gil

Thundara - 1,500 Gil

Cura - 1,500 Gil

Teleport - 1,500 Gil

Blindna - 1,500 Gil

You should purchase both Sight and Teleport here, Teleport can

especially be valuable.

Inn/Item Store

Potion - 50 Gil

Hi-Potion - 600 Gil

Page 18: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

Gold Needle - 100 Gil

Maiden's Kiss - 100 Gil

Echo Herbs - 100 Gil

Mallet - 100 Gil

Eye Drops - 40 Gil

Antidote - 80 Gil

Rest - 120 Gil

I suggest buying a bunch of Antidotes and Maiden's Kisses just to be

prepared for later, once you have everything you can leave the village and

return to your ship, once aboard sail to the north where you will see a

castle (if you find a building with a whirlpool beside it the you've gone

too far just follow the land on the left back to find it). When you locate it

jump off the boat and enter.

Castle Argus

Items - 1,000 Gil x6, 1,500 Gil, 100 Gil x2, Book of Light, Fire

Arrow, Book of Ice, Scholar Robe, Ice Arrow, Book of Fire, Light

Arrow, Killer Bow, Medusa Arrow, Bomb Fragment, Antarctic

Wind, Arctic Wind.

When inside, head straight up the stairs into the next room where the

northern wall will have candlesticks on it, walk up to and interact with the

one furthest to the right to open up a secret passage, in the room it leads

to, walk through the wall to reach three chests, each with 1,000 Gil inside.

Head up the stairs in the next room to find six more chests, plunder them

all to receive 1,000 Gil x3, 1,500 Gil, 100 Gil x2.

Head up the next lot of stairs to reach the castle rooftop, take the right side

path and you will eventually come to a door to a tower, switch your Thief

to the leader of the group so that it they can unlock the door, inside you

will find another six chests containing Book of Light, Fire Arrow, Book

of Ice, Scholar Robe, Ice Arrow and Book of Fire.

Outside, head over to the left and you will find another door for your Thief

to unlock, inside you can interact with the wardrobe to create an opening

Page 19: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

in the wall to reach three more chests holding Light Arrow, Killer Bow

and Medusa Arrow.

Head back now to where you triggered the candlestick and go up the stairs

now to a dining room area, on the other side of the room you can walk

down some steps (you won’t be able to see them as they are covered by

the wall), In the next room you can find a Bomb Fragment and Antarctic

Wind in two chests then walk through the wall between the chests to reach

one more chest with an Arctic Wind.

Back in the dining room area, if you exit through a southern doorway you

will be back on the roof in a small courtyard area with a reviving and

HP/MP restore pool on either side should you need them, that is now

everything we can gather here so head out and head north-west on land in

search of a cave in the mountain area, when you find it you can enter.

Gulgan Gulch

Items - Mage Robe, Ice Staff, Fire Staff

There is a Moogle as you enter but he won’t have anything for you right

now, instead leave him for now and speak to him on your way out in a

moment. Head straight through the area as you don't need to speak to all

the people, when you can head down some stairs and in the next room

speak to the central Gulgan who will give you the Toad spell and allow

you to progress with the story.

Just south of the Gulgan you can walk through the wall and follow a path

to three chests and pick up a Mage Robe, Fire Staff and Ice Staff, when

you have everything you can go back to the world map, remember to

speak with the Moogle before you go.

When you reach the world map you can either collect your ship or walk

to your next destination, either way follow the shoreline until you reach a

large building, prepare if you need to then enter.

Tower of Owen

Page 20: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

Items - Echo Herbs (x3), Spark Dagger, Bomb Fragment, Sonic

Knuckles, Salamand Sword, Flame Mail, Zeus's Wrath.

Enemies - Pugman (1-4), Far Darrig (2-10), Blood Bat (5-10), Petit

Mage (1-10), Fury (1), Aughisky (5-10)

Above where the enemies are listed I have added which floors you will

find them on to help in case you miss any. I would recommend hanging

around Floor 1 for a while as the Fury enemy is a reasonably rare

encounter so it should be dealt with as soon as you can (The sewer area

counts as floor 1 I believe as I encountered them there).

When you enter, follow the path around to a dead end where a small scene

will play, when you are ready cast Toad on all your characters and enter

through the drain in the wall, when you arrive on the other side use some

of the Maiden's Kisses I advised you to buy before to restore your

characters to normal allowing them to fight battles effectively. When you

are ready just follow the path of this floor right around to quickly reach

the exit to the next floor, though you may want to get into a few battles

here to try make sure you get the new enemies added to your Bestiary,

you should be able to find Pugman, Far Darrig and Petit Mage on this

floor, when you have them all you can just sail through to floor 5 to pick

up the last two.

In the next room head over the walkway to your left and on the other side

to your right will be a chest with an Echo Herb inside, then make your

way to the left and follow the path to the stairs to the next level. On this

next floor there is nothing new to pick up, just head across a walkway and

make your way to the next set of steps leading up to the next floor.

You will now be on floor 5 where you can find the two remaining enemies

for this area (Blood Bat/Aughisky), hunt them down then go across a

couple of walkways and walk to the right, follow the path to reach a chest

with a Spark Dagger inside, head back the way you came and this time go

left to reach floor 6.

On floor 6, head over to the left then when you have control again, try to

walk up the small path leading up, you will see you cannot actually walk

Page 21: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

on it, instead interact with the path to have a section of wall removed,

opening up the path for you, follow the new path down the go left, ignore

the stairs at first and continue left to quickly open another chest with Echo

Herbs then make your way to floor 7 for a nice and simple one - left,

down, right, up to reach floor 8.

When you reach floor 8, take the right path first and head up to find two

chests, one with Echo Herbs and the other holding a Bomb Fragment,

when you have those you can take the left side and follow it around to the

stairs for floor 9. For this next floor, take the path left then north and after

the walkway turn right to find a chest with Sonic Knuckles inside, when

you have those go back and continue left, follow the path around to reach

floor 10.

For this one, head left until you come to a split then head down, turn right

at the next split in the path to find a chest with a Salamand Sword inside,

then head in the other direction, when the path splits again quickly head

north to grab a Flame Mail from a chest then head down and follow the

path around to find your last chest here with a Zeus' Wrath inside and the

stairs to the next room where you will find your next foe.

!!!!!!!!!!!BOSS BATTLE!!!!!!!!!!!

Medusa

HP - 3,000

EXP - 420

Gil - 3,600

Weakness - Ice

Drops - Common - Hi-Potion, Rare - Phoenix Down

Have your Black Mage constantly pump out Blizzara until you run out of

MP for level 3 spells then use Blizzard for the remainder of the battle,

have your Warrior attack with the Advance ability and you Thief attack

for more damage, as for the White Mage when they aren't healing go into

items and look for a spare Ice Staff you should have and use it to cast

Blizzard for free as many times as you like, if you keep this up Medusa

Page 22: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

should be down and out in no time. She does have one dangerous attack

called Stare which can petrify your characters, if this happens; quickly

attend to them with a Gold Needle.

Once you are done a scene will play out and Desch will leave the party,

you will also see that the whirlpool has been removed allowing us to reach

the other ocean of the floating continent, there will be a few new enemies

in the ocean for you to fight, the best place to do this is the western side

of the map in the ocean beside the Village of Ancients, the monsters you

are looking for are

Anet

Mermaid

Seahorse

Sea Serpent

Sea Serpents can be hard to run into but they are most common in the area

I suggest you search, once you have them all you can proceed to the

eastern side of the continent where you will find a town on the outer-rim,

enter here.

Gyshal

Items - Gyshal Greens x3, Magic Key x2, Shuriken

When you enter run over to the south-eastern corner of town to the left of

the trees in the corner in a rounded section of land on the edge of the lake

you can find 2x Magic Keys and a Gyshal Green on the ground. Head

back to the centre of the town and enter the house to the left of the farming

patch, in the back and to the left of the Chocobo stable area search the

pots to find 2x Gyshal Greens then head out and north into a store, here

you can buy Magic Keys for 100 Gil each, if you plan on using a Thief in

your party they end up being redundant but it may be worth having about

4-5 just in case, when you are done walk into the wall on the right and

follow the secret path behind the counter to open a chest with a Shuriken

Page 23: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

inside, when you head out you are almost done, there isn't much here when

it comes to shopping but this is what's on offer

Item Store/Inn

Gyshal Greens - 150 Gil

Stay - 120 Gil

Magic Store

Toad - 1,000 Gil

Mini - 1,000 Gil

Break - 3,000 Gil

Shade - 3,000 Gil

Libra - 3,000 Gil

Confuse - 3,000 Gil

Silence - 3,000 Gil

There isn't much if anything worth buying, status effect spells aren't very

good in this game and for them to even land you need quite a high Job

level as well as a high Intellect stat, Libra is the only really useful spell as

it displays your enemies stats and weaknesses but I will be doing that for

you so it kind of loses its value.

Finally inside the first room of the Inn and walking through the right side

wall you will find a man you can speak to who will show your stats and

progress for the playthrough of the game. Specifically you want to be

double checking your Bestiary and Chests collected. On the Bestiary page

you should have from No. 1 Goblin to No. 54 Aughisky filled in, then

scroll down and make sure you have No. 71 to No. 74 (Anet to Sea

Serpent) collected, the remaining ones down the bottom will be the bosses

you have defeated so far. In the Achievements tab you want to see 28%

for chests collected, if this is correct then you are up to date, if not then

you will have missed something and should go backtracking to find it,

nothing has been missable so far. When you are done in here, head outside

and check in with Mognet then feel free to leave.

Page 24: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

On the world map hop aboard your ship and head back towards the Tower

of Owen, when you reach it continue to the west until you find an island

with two cave entrances on it, disembark and enter the southern one.

Dwarven Hollow

Items - Elixir, Echo Herbs, Knight Armour, Ottershroom, Gauntlets,

Scholar Robe, Book of Light, Book of Fire, Phoenix Down x2,

Killer Bow, Book of Ice, Gold Needle, Scholar Hat, Heroic Shield,

Gyshal Greens

There isn't anything to go hunting for in here for the time being but there

are some shops with great items for you to pick up, head through the first

part of the tunnel into a much larger room, the doors along the northern

wall will lead you to the stores, here is what is on offer.

Armour Store

Ice Armour - 2,400 Gil

Ice Helm - 1,200 Gil

Ice Shield - 1,800 Gil

Mage Robe - 2,000 Gil

Kenpo Gi - 2,000 Gil

I suggest buying a few pieces of the Ice equipment as there is a boss that

deals in fire coming in the near future and each piece offers +50% Fire

Damage Resistance, however these do not stack so it is a waste to have all

of it equipped to one person, try to spread it out as best you can.

Weapon Store

Tyrfing - 2,000 Gil

Fire Staff - 3,500 Gil

Ice Staff - 3,500 Gil

Diamond Bell - 4,500 Gil

Iron Arrow - 8 Gil

Holy Arrow - 10 Gil

Page 25: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

This is the only place you can get a Tyrfing so go ahead and grab one. The

bell is for the Geomancer job which you will get soon, you can get one of

the bells for free but that won’t be for a while so it may be in your interest

to pick one up here.

Item Store/Inn

Potion - 50 Gil

Hi-Potion - 600 Gil

Gold Needle - 100 Gil

Maiden's Kiss - 100 Gil

Echo Herbs - 100 Gil

Mallet - 100 Gil

Eye Drops - 40 Gil

Antidote - 80 Gil

Stay - 80 Gil

The next dungeon has enemies that can cause petrify so be sure to stock

up on some Gold Needles. It will also be worth buying about 10 or so

Mallets as the next boss can cause Mini on your whole party.

When you are ready, head into the centre of the main room and speak with

the Dwarf, he will tell you that the Ice Horn has been stolen and you are

tasked with its retrieval, take the path to the left to reach a lake, when you

can, cast Toad on your party and enter the dungeon.

Subterranean Lake

Enemies - Bomb (1-3), Manticore (1-3), Stalagmite (3), Sea Devil

(3), Merman (3), Ruinous Wave (3), BOSS

Items - 3,000 Gil x2, Gold Needle x3, Zeus's Wrath x2

First things first, be sure to cure all of your characters from Toad, either

by using the spell again or with Maiden's Kiss items. Again above the

numbers in brackets indicate what floors of the cave you can find each

enemy. The path here is pretty straight forward, just head down and across

Page 26: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

a couple of bridges where you will find a chest with a Gold Needle inside

then head over to the right to reach the next floor.

Head across the first bridge for a chest with a Zeus's Wrath inside then

continue down then left for another chest with a Zeus's Wrath inside,

continue to the left and into the bottom corner before crossing the bridge

to find another chest with a Gold Needle inside, over the northern bridge,

collect another Gold Needle and proceed up the steps to the next floor.

Head straight up to find two chests, each with 3,00 Gil inside, then use

your menu to organise your characters and heal up, when you are ready

proceed forward and prepare for battle.

!!!!!!!!!BOSS BATTLE!!!!!!!

Gutsco

HP - 3,500

EXP - 2,304

Gil - 3,500

Weakness - None

Drops - Common - Hi-Potion, Rare - Phoenix Down

This is a pretty easy fight, the main thing you need to watch out for is

Mini, as soon as one or all of your characters get hit by it your one goal

should be to cure them and get everyone back to the right size as physical

damage received is greatly amplified if hit while Mini is in effect, other

than that you should be fine so long as you keep up with regular healing

and damage output.

When the battle is over you can collect the Ice Horn and make your way

back to Dwarven Hollow, if you have it, use Teleport to make the trip a

bit quicker, either way make your way back to the shrine in Dwarven

Hollow and speak to the Dwarf there to have the ward removed, place the

horn on the right side and a scene will play out, when it is over get yourself

ready then leave and head into the northern cave.

Molten Cave

Page 27: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

Enemies - Balloon (1-3), Myrmecoleon (2-4), Crocotta (1-4),

Adamantoise (1-4), Red Marshmallow (1-3), BOSS

Items - Antarctic Wind x2, Freezing Blade, Hi-Potion, Impact

Claws, Magic Key, Phoenix Down x2

Follow the path through and continue past the lava to find a chest at a dead

end with an Antarctic Wind inside it, head back to the lava, you will have

to walk in the lava now, keep an eye on your health as the lava will do 10

damage per second to all of your characters while moving or standing still.

Run in, take the right path at the fork to reach another Antarctic Wind at

the end, and then head back into the lava this time taking the left path to

reach the next area.

More lava in this room, head down at the fork and open a chest to grab a

Freezing Blade, then head back and take the left path. At the next fork

head south again, this time for a Hi-Potion then head north for a Phoenix

Down, finally head left at the fork to reach the next level.

A pretty simple room, just head through the lava, collecting the Impact

Claws on the left and the Phoenix Down at the end of the path then interact

with the boulder to open up the path to the next room.

This last room is just a bridge between the lava floors and the boss, get

yourself ready by healing up, ensure any characters able have ice

equipment to reduce the bosses attacks, I suggest making sure you have a

Black and White Mage with their strongest ice and healing spells ready as

well as a damage dealer with the Freezing Blade equipped. When you are

good to go head on through, after meeting up with Gutsco and a small

scene the fight will begin.

!!!!!!!!!!BOSS BATTLE!!!!!!!!!

Salamander

HP - 5,700

EXP - 2,744

Gil - 3,700

Page 28: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

Weaknesses - Ice

Drops - Uncommon - Hi-Potion, Rare - Phoenix Down

This can be a tough battle if you aren't ready for it but with your ice

equipment you should be ok, start off by using you Blizzara and Blizzard

spells as much as possible, when the White Mage isn't healing use an Ice

Staff as an item to cast Blizzard, make sure to heal reasonably often. Once

Salamander reaches 30% HP he will begin using his Fire Breath attack,

this deals solid fire-based damage to the whole party, those with ice items

equipped will receive 50% of the intended damage, use Cure or Cura on

the whole party every time this hits and just keep up the damage and

Salamander should soon fall.

After your victory you will receive the Horns of Ice and a scene will play

out with the crystal unlocking

Some Like It Hot7 (5)

??????? (Secret)

Unlocked by 350 tracked gamers (48% - TA Ratio = 1.45)735

You will also receive four new job titles - Ranger, Knight, Scholar and

Geomancer.

Make your way back to Dwarven Hollow, return to the dwarf next to the

shrine and he will give you a Magic Key as thanks for your help, the real

treasure however is yet to come, head south and you will see a dwarf

standing in the middle of the tunnel, speak to him and he will lead you

downstairs to the a massive haul of loot, open all the chests then head

outside, as you do you will see a scene giving you Tokkul as the next

destination, however we will not be going there just yet.

Page 29: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

It's now time for a side quest. If you have been keeping up with the

Mognet you should have received four letters from Topapa, the fourth will

tell you that some children went out exploring but haven't come back yet.

If you don't have the letters then just speak to the Moogle in any town

with one with Luneth then exit out and speak to it again until all four are

there, while you are with a Moogle you may as well catch up on all your

letters.

When you are good to go, head back to Ur by sailing down to the shore

beside Canaan then walking through the path in the mountains, when you

enter Ur go into the house on the left with the blue roof and speak to

Topapa who will suggest looking for the children in Altar Cave so head

on over when you are ready to. Inside Altar Cave just make your way to

the second floor for a scene where you find the children being attacked by

three Bombs, you will enter a battle with them, take them out and another

scene will play, the children will award you with the Onion Knight job

crystal shard.

Before doing anything else, make sure you are well stocked as you will

be heading to a new dungeon that you cannot leave until complete, when

you are good to go head over to Tokkul (south-west of Nepto Temple).

Castle Hein

Enemies - Pharaoh (2-7), Lemur (2,4,6,7), Lamia (4,6,7), Demon (2-

5), Dullahan (4,5)

Items - 3,000 Gil x3, Antarctic Wind, Bomb Fragment, Elixir x3,

Holy Arrows x20, Phoenix Down x4, Royal Sword, Rune Bow,

Zeus's Wrath

!!WARNING!! - This area is a one-time only occurrence, you must

collect all chests and Bestiary data before completing the castle otherwise

you will require another playthrough of the game.

When you awake you will be in a cell, walk over to the right to speak to

King Argus who will ask you to defeat Hein, his treacherous advisor who

has captured his men or turned them for his own army. Head over to the

Page 30: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

right again and speak to the knight on the right hand side who will reveal

he is actually an enemy triggering a fight with a Demon. Head out and

into the next cell on the right, if you speak to the knight lying on the

ground he will give you the Mini spell, go into the top right hand corner

of the room and use the pot to restore your HP/MP then use Mini on your

party to go through the hole in the wall.

Straight away use Mini or Mallets to remove the Mini status from your

characters, when you're ready follow the path around into a large clearing

area, head south to find a chest with 20 Holy Arrows inside then head

back and up the left-most northern path to find two chests, each with a

Phoenix Down inside, when you have everything, take the left path into

the next room.

In the next room take the first path up to open a chest with a Phoenix

Down then got up the other path for stairs leading to the next floor. You

will find three doors ahead of you, starting from right to left you will find

Zeus's Wrath/3,000 Gil, Antarctic Wind/3,000 Gil, Bomb Fragment/3,000

Gil. When you have everything, walk around the outside of the rooms and

up the stairs waiting for you up to the next floor.

Straight ahead of you is a chest with the Royal Sword, then head through

the opening on the left into a smaller room where you can take the stairs

to the next floor.

You now find yourself on the outside of the tree, make your way along

the branch and grab the Phoenix Down inside a chest as you go past it

then through the doorway into the next room.

Turn left and grab the Elixir inside the chest then head up the path ignoring

the left side at the fork, at the top you will find a Rune Bow inside a chest,

return and take the other path at the fork in the road and reach the stairs.

Before going any further, make sure you have defeated all random

enemies and opened all chests as this will be your last chance to do so, I

also suggest having at least one Scholar on your team, when you are ready

head into the next room for a scene.

Page 31: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

!!!!!!!!BOSS BATTLE!!!!!!

Hein

HP - 4,500

EXP - 3,464

Gil - 4,300

Weakness - Changes

Drops - Uncommon - Hi-Potion, Rare - Phoenix Down

This will be the toughest boss battle you have had to deal with up to this

point, Hein can be a really big pain to deal with but it is very doable. To

start have all of your characters in the rear to make sure you take minimal

damage from Hein’s physical attacks, from there start dealing out the

punishment, it will be slow but you will survive a lot easier this way.

Occasionally Hein will use an ability called Barrier Shift, when he does

this he changes what element he is weak against, if you have a Scholar

with you, use your Study ability or Libra with a White Mage if you have

one with the spell to learn the weakness then have your spell users cast

the relevant spells, use items like the elemental staffs if you have to,, on

the next turn start having the Scholar use items as well as the Scholars

special ability allows it extra efficiency when using items, making the

stronger. Almost every couple of turns Hein will also try to cast a status

ailment on you ranging from poison, sleep, blind and confused, counter

them if you can when they are used on you and press on, if you are able

to keep your HP up and deal consistent damage you should defeat him in

no time.

After a bunch of scenes you will be outside The Living Forest, follow the

coastline around to Tokkul and board your ship then make your way back

to Castle Argus.

When you enter the castle, head straight through and up the stairs into a

large room with the king sitting at a round table, speak to him for some

dialogue after which he will give you the Wheel of Time, that's all we

need here so head back to the ship and set sail for Canaan.

Page 32: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

Head into town and up to the house in the top left corner to meet up with

Cid, after a long scene and some more explanation of the story Cid will

convert the Enterprise into an airship, to use it just tap the screen when in

the water, this will allow you to leave the Floating Continent and reach

the surface world but before doing so I advise you head over to Gyshal

and visit the man in the secret room of the Inn, if you are up to date you

should have the Bestiary 36% complete with entries No.1 Goblin to No.74

Sea Serpent complete as well as No.196 Land Turtle to No.203 Hein. You

should also have 39% of chests opened by this point. If you are missing

any monsters or chests I suggest going back and searching for them now

to save yourself time. Once you are sure you have everything, fly over the

edge of the Floating Continent for a scene.

Once you have control again open your map, as you can see there is quite

a lot of nothing in this new world, our first stop is the small northernmost

island, when you get there (you need to set the ship down in the water? to

land) enter the wrecked ship and make your way inside it (on the left of

the screen) and make your way down the stairs to the lower deck, inside

are two chests, one with a Blood Sword and the other with Zeus's Wrath

inside, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THESE ITEMS BEFORE YOU

CONTINUE! When you are ready speak to the old man watching over

the woman on a bed to the right for a scene, once you have control again,

interact with Aria on the bed and give her an Antidote to wake her and see

another scene. Once all done leave the ship, jump on board your airship

and make your way to the largest island on the map.

When you arrive, head up a river and disembark when you come to a

clearing, enter the Temple of Water in the centre of the forest and head

through the halls to the crystal room, approach the altar for a scene. Once

you have the Crystal Shard head outside and into the cave slightly to the

north

Cave of Tides

Enemies - Cockatrice, Poison Toad, Twin Heads, Roper, Agaliarept

Items - Blizzaga

Page 33: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

Head down and over the bridge then follow the path around to a door, a

scene with Aria will open the way into the next room. Head across another

bridge then south into an unseen doorway. In this room cross the only

bridge there is and take some stairs down to the next level.

Follow the path and cross the first two bridges, once you reach the third

one ignore it as this will only lead you to a dead end, instead continue to

the left and head down the next bridge you find and follow the path to

some stairs to the next area.

This is a rather large room, just around the first corner you will find a set

of stairs with a bridge to the right, head up the steps and follow the path

for a little bit to reach a chest containing the Blizzaga spell, with that done,

make your way back to the start of the room and over the bridge, following

the path all the way around until you reach another set of stairs.

The final floor here is flooded, just make your way around the outside

until you reach the stairs, get yourself prepared as you have a boss in the

next room, I suggest equipping at least one of your team members with

Flame Mail to have some protection, it's also a good idea to give your

Black Mage the Blizzaga spell if they are able to use it. When you have

filled your Bestiary and have your team ready continue to the next room

for a scene.

!!!!!!!BOSS BATTLE!!!!!!!

Kraken

HP - 8,000

EXP - 5,280

Gil - 5,500

Weaknesses - Lightning

Drops - Uncommon - Hi-Potion, Rare - Phoenix Down

This can be a difficult battle if you aren't well prepared and Kraken can

deal some serious damage with his two attacks per turn. Kraken's physical

attack Whip can deal up to around 200 damage but the real threat is

Page 34: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

Blizzara which can deal some heavy damage; thankfully Kraken seems to

stick to his Whip most of the time. If you are able, have your Mage use

Blizzaga, even though Kraken isn't weak to it the spell can deal some

decent damage, have your other characters use physical attacks and if you

have a Scholar they should use Zeus's Wraths for some heavy damage,

keep the healing up and you should be victorious in no time.

Once the fight is over you will get another scene and you will unlock

Release the Kraken8 (5)

??????? (Secret)

Unlocked by 272 tracked gamers (37% - TA Ratio = 1.65)735

as well as the jobs Viking, Dragoon, Dark Knight, Evoker and Bard.

After the scenes you will wake up in a new area.

Amur

Items - Gyshal Greens x4, Black Garb, Black Cowl, Thief Gloves

After you wake up, head outside and look for the armour store just to the

right of the inn and over a bridge then go south over another bridge and

speak to the girl there for a scene, head back up to the armour store and

go east over another bridge and enter the house you find, inside speak to

Old Man Gill, after a scene you will have access to the Amur Sewers.

Head into the water and go north into the vegetable patch, if you tap the

screen on each of the four vegetables in the middle row you will find four

Gyshal Greens. Head back into the water and go left, down, left then up

to walk up a waterfall, go up a small set of steps onto a small island

directly in front of the waterfall and just to the right after the steps search

on the ground for a Black Cowl then head between the trees in the middle

Page 35: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

of the island and search again for a Black Garb and Thief Gloves. With

all the items collected you can now go shopping if you wish however I

recommend that you hold off on doing so as almost all the equippable

items you can buy here will be found in the field for free in the near future,

if anything you should just restock on status curing items, here is the shop

inventories.

Armour Store

Viking Helm - 5,500 Gil

Viking Mail - 8,000 Gil

Heroic Shield - 3,500 Gil

Thief Gloves - 2,500 Gil

Black Garb - 5,000 Gil

Black Cowl - 4,000 Gil

Black Belt Gi - 6,000 Gil

Chakra Band - 4,500 Gil

If you have more than one Knight or a similar job then the Heroic Shield

is probably the only item worth buying here as it works similar to the

Ribbon accessory then appears in so many Final Fantasy titles, having one

equipped will make your character immune to

Sleep/Confuse/Poison/Toad/Blind/Mini/Poison and Petrify.

Weapon Store

Battleaxe - 7,400 Gil

Main Gauche - 7,000 Gil

Thunder Spear - 8,000 Gil

Selene Bow - 16,000 Gil

Boomerang - 9,000 Gil

Iron Arrow - 8 Gil

Holy Arrow - 10 Gil

Madhura Harp - 10,000 Gil

Page 36: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

If you plan on using a Viking then grab a Battleaxe, and a Main Gauche

for the Thief is a safe purchase but the rest is a waste of money at this

point.

Inn/Item Store

Potion - 50 Gil

Hi-Potion - 600 Gil

Gold Needle - 100 Gil

Echo Herbs - 100 Gil

Gyshal Greens - 150 Gil

Eye Drops - 40 Gil

Antidote - 80 Gil

Stay - 200 Gil

With everything in the village done I suggest heading out to the world

map and saving your game before the next dungeon, once you are ready

make your way to the south-east corner of the waterways in town and

enter the next area.

Amur Sewers

Enemies - Darklegs, Gigantoad, Twin Liger, Stroper (only floor 4,

rare)

Items - Cat Claws, Diamond Bell, Hammer, Kaiser Knuckles,

Poison Dagger, Power Bracers

There's nothing to pick up in this first room just make your way over to

the other side with a couple of steps into and out of the water then down

some stairs to the next level.

Head south and into the water then head over to the left and onto the

central walkway, follow it until you reach the water again and head

straight to the left to get out again then head south, ignore the stairs for

now and follow the walkway further to a chest with Cat Claws inside, one

you have the item you can head to the next level.

Page 37: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

Follow the walkway around and over a bridge where you will see a scene,

straight after you will enter a battle with four Gigantoads, it is a pretty

easy fight so you should be fine. Once the battle is over, head to the right

and take the stairs to the next floor.

Just south of where you enter you should be able to see a small gap in the

wall the right, walk through to find a secret room with a Diamond Bell

and Hammer inside. Head out and left across a bridge and straight ahead

of you will be another gap in the wall with a hidden room, inside you can

find Kaiser Knuckles, Poison Dagger and Power Bracers. Head back

outside and follow the main path all the way around to some stairs to the

next floor.

On the final floor, head to the right for a scene where you will be given

the Levigrass Shoes, after the scene is over you will be teleported to the

entrance of Amur, head to the inn and rest if you need to then head out.

World Map - Surface World

Enemies - Black Flan, Helgaroo, Vulcan, Dracrocotta, Magician,

Frostfly, Simurgh, Harpy, Gargoyle

At the moment you can only fight from Black Flan to Magician, the others

will come later on. When you are ready, head south along the continent

and past the mountain area, you should find a desert if you are going the

correct way. Head over to the right and you will see the Bottomless Bog

which you can now cross with the Levigrass Boots, after crossing it may

be a good idea to save then head into the building ahead.

Goldor's Manor

Enemies - Lost Gold, Gold Eagle, Gold Warrior, Gold Bear, Gold

Knight, Nightmare, BOSS

Items - Golden Sword x11, Wyvern Claws

In the first room I suggest getting into some random battles as the Gold

Eagle enemy can be tough to find with a 10% encounter rate. When you

Page 38: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

want to, head straight through the central hallway in the first area as there

is nothing else to find here, at the other side take the stairs up to the library

on the next level.

This floor is another area with a rare enemy, the Lost Gold enemy can

only be found on this floor and again has just a 10% encounter rate so be

aware of this before continuing further. In the library, head all the way

around, ignoring the paths that split off and when you can't go further turn

right, you will find twelve chests lined up here, open them all for eleven

Golden Swords and Wyvern Claws. Once you have all the chests and the

Lost Gold enemy added to the Bestiary head back into the first room.

Once back in the Main Hall room head to the north-east block and enter

the room there using either a Magic Key or your Thief at the head of the

party, inside the room in the left wall you can take some stairs down a

short hallway with some more stairs leading to the next level.

This area can be quite a maze but it isn't too bad with some direction. Turn

left as soon as you can then down, take the next left and continue left until

you reach the end of the room, head north and follow the hall until you

reach the stairs to the next level, before going any further make sure you

have collected everything here and are good and healed, a Scholar is also

highly recommended. On the next floor, head straight forward for a scene

before entering into battle.

!!!!!!!!!BOSS BATTLE!!!!!!!!!

Goldor

HP - 9,000

EXP - 6,560

Gil - 9,900

Weaknesses - None

This guy is a massive pain! Goldor’s main strategy is to hit you with a

physical attack usually ranging in around 200 damage and using a status

effect spell which will either hit a single character or be aimed at your

Page 39: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

whole party, the statuses will be Blind, Silence or Confuse with Confuse

being the most deadly especially if landed on any of your heavy hitting

physical attackers. Goldor also has the ability to cast Protect on himself

making physical attacks much less effective, if you brought a Scholar into

battle you can dispel the Protect by using Study on Goldor. Use items with

your Scholar if you have enough to spare (I have plenty from Job Level

grinding on my daily commutes) and use your strongest attacks with your

mages if you have any.

Once Goldor is defeated another scene will play and Goldor will disappear

along with the crystal leaving behind a key, pick it up then use Teleport

to leave or backtrack out of the mansion and make your way back to

Amur.

Side quest time!

In Amur find the Moogle and speak to him with each character, you

should by now have the Help! letter from Sara, once you have caught up

on the letters head out and unchain the Enterprise, before going anywhere

you want to fly your ship out into the ocean and land, fight in random

battles until you find the Sea Dragon enemy which is just a colour

swapped version of the Sea Serpent from earlier in the game, this is a rare

encounter (10%) and will become missable very soon.

Once you have collected the Sea Dragon for your Bestiary, check your

map, in the bottom left corner is the Floating Continent, this is your

destination, avoid the north-western continent as this will progress the

story which we do not want right now.

Once back on the Floating Continent, travel to Castle Sasune and visit

Sara on the highest floor of the east tower, after a scene she will hand her

pendant over to you for you to fix. Leave Sasune and head over to Kazus.

Go and visit Refia's father Takka for him to tell you he is unable to repair

the pendant. This is as far as we can progress this side quest for now.

Next up is preparations, the next boss is easily one of the toughest and you

will need some tough characters to make it through the battle, a solid line-

Page 40: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

up for this fight is a Geomancer, White Mage/Red Mage/Black Mage (I

prefer Red for versatility as well as saving a character for a different job),

Dragoon and either a Ranger or Dark Knight. Grind a bit and get these

jobs to at least level 30 each to see the benefits start to shine through.

When you are ready, fly back to the Surface World and on your map you

will see a small pair of islands in the centre of the ocean just to the left of

the north-western continent, fly over and land on the one with the village

but before entering you should search the island, you can find the

following.

Enemies - Hellgaroo Mage, Needle Monkey, Catoblepas, Sorcerer,

Sand Worm

All of the enemies mentioned above can be found either on the island with

the village or the one neighbouring it, Needle Monkeys are the most

difficult to encounter after the Sand Worms and you are more likely to

find both of them in the forested areas, when you have added them all you

can head into the town.

Duster

Items - Earthen Drums x2

Head up into the centre of town where you will see a waterfall surrounded

by flowers and trees, follow the tree line on each side and when you reach

the dead ends search the ground to find an Earthen Drum, other than that

all there is to do here is shop.

It is worth buying a Gaia Vest as well as 2-4 Feathered Hats and Rune

Bracers, if you are short on money you can sell ten of the eleven Gold

Swords you got earlier for 25,000 Gil, once you have everything head on

back to your ship.

For our next destination, head left towards the large continent and when

you see the shoreline follow it south and all the way around to the northern

point, you want to avoid the large empty looking area on the eastern side

of the continent.

When you reach the northern end of the continent, you should be able to

see a town nestled between some forest, rivers and mountains, head inside

when you find it.

Replito

Items - Elixir x2, Phoenix Down, Turtle Shell x2

Page 42: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

When you enter, head over to the east side of town where you can find a

Gulgan standing within the trees; search the ground beside him to find a

Phoenix Down. Back at the town entrance to your left will be a solitary

tree, interact with it for a Turtle Shell then head north and just above the

house on your left, search one of the trees to find another Turtle Shell. Just

above where you find the second Turtle Shell you can enter a path

between the trees, search in here to find an Elixir, finally head over to the

east side of town and look for a house with a blue roof and no front door,

walk around behind the house to find a secret entrance, once inside head

directly into the right wall to find a secret path with a chest at the end

containing another Elixir. The last thing to do here is some shopping -

have everything you can head out again.

!!!!!!!!WARNING!!!!!!

BEFORE GOING ANY FURTHER MAKE SURE YOU HAVE

UNLOCKED THESE MONSTERS IN THE BESTIARY -

Floating Continent, Inner Sea (Area next to Nepto Temple) -

Killer Fish, Hermit, Sea Elemental, Tangie, Sahagin

Floating Continent, Outer Sea (Beyond Tower of Owen)/Surface World

Ocean -

Anet, Mermaid, Seahorse, Sea Serpent

Surface World Ocean ONLY

Sea Dragon

After the next area all of these monsters will no longer be available and

you will need to play a second playthrough for the Bestiary completion

achievement.

!!!!!!!!!!!WARNING!!!!!!!!!!

Once you are ready, save your game and head to the large castle on the

eastern side of the continent. Fly towards the central castle for a scene.

Saronia Kingdom

Page 44: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

Enemies - Hellgaroo Mage, Needle Monkey, Catoblepas, Sorcerer,

Sand Worm, BOSS

Items - Boomerang, Dragon Hammer, Dragon Helm x5, Dragon

Mail x4, Earthen Bell, Elixir, Gaia Vest, Golem Staff, Gyshal

Greens x11, Ice Rod, Main Gauche, Medusa Arrow x20, Phoenix

Down x4, Rusty Mail x2, Scholar Hat, Selene Bow, Thunder Spear

x3, Tome of Ice, Tome of Light, Tome of Fire, Viking Helm, Viking

Mail, Wind Spear

When you get control you will be standing between two separate forces,

one will yellow helmets, one with red as the city is in a civil war of sorts.

Instead of heading up and into the castle, head south and out to the world

map.

On the world map you will be inside the walls of Saronia and will be able

to access the four separate districts, first head to the north-western district.

For now in here there isn't a lot to do but it may be worth noting the Inn

and Item Store available here, they sell the same wares as most other Item

Stores and charge 320 Gil to stay.

Head out and over to the north-east district, as well as also having an Inn

and Item Store you can head up to the top left of the district to find an

open weapon store.

Weapon Store

Thunder Spear - 8,000 Gil

Wind Spear - 10,000 Gil

Purchase one Wind Spear for the time being and if you don't need any

healing or items you can head out to the map and enter the south-western

district.

On the east side of town, enter the large house, if you speak to the fellow

inside he will cause a Fat Chocobo to appear, you can use this to store

items but why you would need to do this eludes me. In the right wall you

can find a secret passage, follow this around to a hidden room with 11

Page 45: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

chests inside, unfortunately all of them just have Gyshal Greens inside.

When you have them all, head out and to the northern end of town and

enter the building there for a scene which will throw you into a battle with

three Gold Knights, once defeated the scene will continue and Prince Alus

will join your party as an NPC. With Alus in tow, head out of the tavern

and into the waterways to find an orange-robed man alone in the centre,

speak with him and he will give you Dragon Mail for having Alus with

you. Next head to the western wall of town and follow it south to find

another man in an orange robe, speak to him and he will give you a Wind

Spear, you must collect both these items now or you will miss the chance

to get them, once both are in your possession you can leave the district

and head over to the south-east district.

Inside the centre of this district you will find the Dragon Spire, head in

through the central gate (the side doors do nothing) and inside climb to

the top of the tower, when you reach the top head over to the right to

collect Dragon Mail, Phoenix Down, Thunder Spear x2 and Dragon Helm

x2, once you have opened all of these chests, if you have been following

this walkthrough correctly you should also unlock

When you have those, head over to the left side of the tower to pick up

Dragon Helm x2, Phoenix Down, Thunder Spear, and Dragon Mail x2.

Once you have everything you can exit the tower and the district and make

your way to the castle, before heading inside it's time for an equipment

check, I had a Dark Knight, Geomancer, Red Mage and Dragoon, make

sure the Geomancer has two Diamond Bells equipped and set the Dragoon

up with the Dragon Armour set you just collected here as well as both

Page 46: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

Wind Spears you should now own, as for the Red Mage and Dark Knight,

equip the Dark Knight with your strongest two swords which should be

the Royal Sword and Blood Sword and leave the Red Mage with the

Freezing Blade and Salamand Sword, when you are ready, save on the

world map and head in. Make your way towards the gates between the

two armies clashing and you will see a scene at the end of which the fight

begins.

!!!!!!!!!!!BOSS BATTLE!!!!!!!

Garuda

HP - 10,000

EXP - 8,800

Gil - 10,200

Weaknesses - Wind

Garuda can be a very formidable enemy but with the team I sent you in

with you should be able to take him down. This strategy is assuming all

your characters are over job level 30 as instructed earlier. Have your Dark

Knight use Souleater, this should do a minimum of 1,000 damage at a cost

of 20% of your current HP then have your Geomancer use Terrain,

Geomancers have a chance of using the Shadowflare ability in this battle

which will deal around 6,000+ damage, have your Red Mage cast either

Blizzaga or pre-empt the coming damage and cast Cura then just have

your Dragoon attack, the reason for this is Jump takes 2 turns and the

payoff isn't worth the wait. Garuda has just two attacks, a physical blow

that can do over 300 damage to a character and his Lightning ability, this

is what makes Garuda deadly as this can do up to 800 damage and if two

are used in a row it can be devastating, this is another reason why we don’t

use Jump as it would cause Lightning to do more damage with only 3

characters instead of the normal 4 to divide the damage between. If the

Geomancer landed a Shadowflare the fight may very well already be over,

if they cast Ice Storm instead you should still be in good shape as the

Dragoon should do 2,000 to 2,500+ damage, keep the Red Mage healing

Page 47: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

and have the Dark Knight use Souleater every second turn after getting to

max HP and Garuda should fall quickly.

After another scene at the end of the battle you will regain control of your

party and will lose Alus as a member. Head over to the right side of the

room and you will see a section of wall with rubble looking stuff on it,

walk through here for a secret path and head down the stairs you find for

a room full of chests, open them all to receive Ice Rod, Rusty Mail,

Medusa Arrows, Dragon Hammer, Main Gauche, Tome of Fire, Tome of

Ice, Golem Staff, Scholar Hat, Boomerang, Selene Bow and a Tome of

Light. Head down some more stairs on the right and follow a path to a

dead end, check the right side wall for another path to a room with more

chests inside, open them for Rusty Mail, Viking Helm, Earthen Bell,

Dragon Helm, Gaia Vest and Viking Mail. Once you have collected

everything, head back to the room you started in and take the south exit.

In the castle courtyard head to the south-west side and enter the building

there, inside check out the wall on the right for a hidden path and take the

stairs down. In the next room, take a hidden path in the left wall around

to reach the next exit then continue through to a final room with two chests

at the end of the path, both hold a Phoenix Down each.

Head out and now over to the building on the right hand side, inside speak

to any of the guys at the desks for a scene where your airship troubles will

be seen to and you will be given the Nautilus and with that you can leave

the castle.

Lastly now that the nation has been repaired all of the previously closed

stores are now open, here is a list of everything for sale...

all highly useful, the rest can be overlooked.

It's time to do another portion of side questing, now that Saronia is fixed,

head wherever you can find a Moogle (I think Replito is closest) and with

Refia in the lead you should get a new letter from Takka titled The

Legendary Blacksmith, read the letter then fly back to Saronia and enter

the NW district, you can find the smith in the top right corner. Speak to

the smith when you find her for a scene where she will fix the pendant for

you, afterwards she will task you with finding the Orichalcum metal, part

of another side quest. Once you have the pendant, fly to the Floating

Continent in the south-western end of the map and return the pendant to

Sara in Castle Sasune.

When you are happy you can board the Nautilus and head back to the

Surface World, your new destination is the Dalg Continent which is the

island to the left of the town of Amur, at the south-west end of the island

you will find a path that runs through the mountains, follow it to find a

house but before entering enter some random battles to add to your

Bestiary

Enemies - Frostfly (must be on airship to fight), Simurgh, Harpy,

Gargoyle, Chimera (must be on airship to fight)

If you have been collecting all enemies up until this point you should,

highly recommended, I prefer to go with one of each, when you are ready

enter the building.

Doga's Manor

No enemies or items to search for in here, simply walk down the hallway

scene head south a bit further then up some stairs, in the next room you

If you can afford it, I would purchase Firaga, Bio and Aeroga for a good

boost to your Black and White Mage abilities as the next dungeon you

will be relying on your mages a bit as mentioned above, when you are

done shopping head into the next room to the north. There is a pot located

along the north wall between a skull and chest of drawers, if you interact

with it the pot will heal your HP/MP then interact with the candlestick in

the right-hand corner to open a hidden path in the wall just beside it. In

the room at the end cast Mini on your party and head inside the hole.

Cave of the Circle

Enemies - Demon Horse (1-3), Rock Gargoyle (2,3), Bovian (1-3),

Dread Knight (1,3), Flyer Mage (3 - rare)

This is a pretty small dungeon, when you reach each floor try to collect

the enemies quickly then continue using the warp pads. Each floor is very

simple, just head over to the right to find the next exit. In the fourth and

final room, head slightly north into the circular area for a scene, your

Nautilus will now have the ability to go underwater. After the scene Doga

will teleport your party back out to the world map, restore everyone to

their normal size and hop on the Nautilus and fly it back out to the ocean,

to go underwater simply tap the airship as you would to land, while

underwater you now have access to a few new monsters.

Enemies - Noggle, Abtu, Kagura and Charybdis (rare)

When you have added all four to your Bestiary head back to the sky and

go to the south-east corner of the island with Doga's Manor, you should

be able to see a small town by a lake surrounded by mountains, to reach

Page 52: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

the town go a little to the right and underwater you should be able to see

a small path, follow it to the end and resurface to find yourself inside the

mountains, land your ship and enter.

Even if you don't have the money to buy everything you want/need right

now, this is where you will be able to find it.

When you are done shopping you can head out and back over to the

Saronia, we are going to attempt to fight a powerful enemy - Odin, before

doing so you should try to have a Thief with a minimum job level of 71

so that you have a chance of stealing the Gungnir spear from Odin, one of

the most powerful Dragoon weapons in the game, it is also advisable to

be around level 35+ to be able to survive attacks from Odin. When you

Page 54: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

are ready dive underwater just next to the south-east district of Saronia

where you will find a cave, I suggest saving before you enter.

Saronian Catacombs

Enemies - Kyklops (1-4), Boss Troll (1-4), Fachan (1-4), Cenchos

(1-4), Balor (2,4), Ouroboros

Items - Aegis Shield, Elixir x4, Golem Staff, Heavy Lance, Phoenix

Down x4, Reflect Mail, Rune Bell

The first floor here is pretty simple, just run straight ahead and up the

stairs. The second floor is equally as simple, though longer there are no

breaks in the path; just follow it around until you reach the stairs to the

third floor.

Go right as soon as you reach the third level and up some stairs you will

find three chests with a Golem Staff, Rune Bell and Aegis Shield inside

then head back and take the left path, up some steps and to your right will

be a chest with Reflect Mail inside. Continue along the main path and

once you find the stairs ignore them and go a little further to the right for

a chest with a Heavy Lance then proceed to the next floor.

On the fourth floor head up and before entering the room with the blue

rug, look in the right corner of the hallway you are in, you should see a

spot on the wall showing a hidden path, head through to find a room with

8 chests inside, the chests each contain 4 Elixirs and 4 Phoenix Downs,

but when opened they will also trigger a battle with either a Cenchos or

Ouroboros, neither should be too tough for you. Once you have all the

items head back and before heading up the stairs prepare your party. My

setup for this was Dark Knight Lv.40/JL.99, Dragoon Lv.40/JL.99, Red

Mage Lv.40/JL.68, Thief Lv.40/JL.99, my levels are only so high because

I spend my days grinding job levels when I am not able to work on this

walkthrough, but these jobs level 50+ should suffice, equip everyone with

their most powerful weapons and armour (I prefer to dual-wield for max

damage output) I also recommend having at least a couple of -aga spells

and Raise/Protect equipped to your Red Mage. I will write the following

Page 55: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

strategy assuming you are using the same/a similar setup to mine. When

you are all set head up the stairs and face your opponent in the next room.

!!!!!!!!!!BOSS BATTLE!!!!!!!!!

Odin

HP - 31,000

EXP - 20,000

Gil - 16,800

Weaknesses - None

Odin is one tough S.O.B. and even if you are around level 40 like I was

he will still be a tough fight. When you begin start by having your Red

Mage cast Protect on your team, starting with your main damage dealers

Dark Knight and Dragoon then Red Mage and finally Thief. The Thief in

this fight isn't going to be much help, they aren't very powerful offensively

or defensively, their only purpose in this fight is to steal the Gungnir. Have

your Dark Knight either attack or use Souleater, just be wary to make sure

you keep the Dark Knights health in check each time it's used, have your

Dragoon use Jump every time you can, this way you deal heavy damage

and may avoid some of Odin’s powerful strikes. Have your Red Mage

focus on healing, your aim is to keep everyone’s HP over 1,000/1,100 and

finally have the Thief steal until you get Gungnir or until you are told

there is nothing left to steal then just have your Thief support the Red

Mage by using healing items like Hi-Potions and Phoenix Downs if

necessary, the goal is to keep the Dark Knight and Dragoon as alive and

healthy as possible. Odin like all bosses gets two attacks each turn and for

the start of the fight will only use physical attacks to begin with, these are

deadly enough and can hit for 400+ damage per attack, once Odin's HP

drops below about 10,000 he will begin using his Zantesuken attack, this

is when he gets dangerous as this will hit all players on the field for

between 500-1,000 damage each, the Dragoon will avoid all damage

should they be in the air at the time of the attack. If you are able to deal

out healthy amounts of damage and keep your characters healthy you

should survive long enough to win the battle, after doing so you will be

Page 56: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

awarded with the Catastro spell which allows you to summon Odin in

battle. After the fight your characters will all be restored to full health,

either make your way back to the exit or use Teleport/Ottershroom to

return to the Nautilus.

Open up your map and in the south-eastern corner you will see a small

triangular island sitting in the middle of the ocean, this is our next

destination, when you arrive, dive underwater and make your way to the

entrance on the eastern side of the landmass.

Harp, Metal Knuckles, Phoenix Down, Reflect Mail, Tiger Claws,

Trident, Triton Hammer

The first floor here is nice and straightforward, no chests to collect, simply

make your way from the entrance to the steps leading to the next level.

On the second floor, head over to your left and pick up the Chakram from

a chest then take the path to the right of where you came in and follow it

around to a chest containing Tiger Claws. Make your way back to the

entrance of this floor and head south, ignore the path that breaks off to the

right and continue down to find a third chest with a Dual Tomahawk

inside, when you have it head back and take the right path you just ignored

to find the stairs to the next floor.

Head down across the first bridge then continue south across another,

when you are on land head left and open a chest for an Ancient Sword

then continue south over a third bridge to find four more chests holding a

Diamond Shield, Metal Knuckles, Diamond Helm and Cognitome then

head back north to the forked road and take the left bridge to some land

Page 57: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

with four more chests, open them to get Diamond Mail, Loki Harp,

Diamond Bracers and an Air Knife then head south down a final bridge

to find three chests with an Elixir, Diamond Gloves and a Phoenix Down

inside. To the left of the chest with a Phoenix Down in it there is a gap in

the wall that will take you to a final room with four more chests, each of

these chests will trigger a battle once opened, inside you will find

Trident/Peryton, Aegis Shield/Zombie Dragon, Reflect Mail/Death Claw

and Triton Hammer/Eater, once you have everything you can Teleport

yourself outside, keep this dungeon in mind though as it is a great place

to grind some levels if needed (I would suggest trying to have a party

around level 45 at this point).

Now that those little distractions are out of the way we can continue with

the story, open up your map and on the north-western continent where you

find Castle Saronia you should be able to see a small lagoon looking area

at the southern tip of the continent, fly there and dive underwater to find

a temple, save your game before entering as there can be some tough

battles inside, you will also need a Thief or 7 Magic Keys to open all doors

inside.

Temple of Time

Enemies - Dira (1-3), Chimera Mage (1-5), King Lizard (1-4),

Pterodactyl (4 - room A), Wyvern (1,2), Behemoth (3-5), King

Seahorse (1-4), Dragon (4-5)

Items - Behemoth Knife, Blood Lance, Defender, Diamond Bracers,

Diamond Gloves, Diamond Helm, Diamond Mail, Diamond Shield,

Lamia Harp, Protect Ring

Chimera Mages are the enemies you need to be careful of, these creatures

can use the same Lightning attack as Garuda, it is best to try keeping your

party at max HP after each battle through this dungeon.

Head straight down and take your first left, you will see two buildings,

each require a Thief or Magic Key to open the doors, inside you can find

Diamond Bracers in the leftmost building and a Diamond Helm in the

Page 58: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

right one. Once you have opened both chests head south down a small

path then left to find some stairs that let you walk in the water, head north

and when you reach the northern wall go right and up some more steps

then follow the path to some stairs to the next floor.

Head right as far as you can to find a chest with the Defender inside then

head back slightly and down some stairs to the next floor.

Make your way to the right where you will find a locked door, inside will

be a chest with Diamond Mail, exit and go left and down some steps into

the waterway above you, head north then up the steps to your left for

another door, inside you will find the Behemoth Knife and Diamond

Gloves, head out and over to the right side of the waterway, up some more

steps is a locked door, inside you can find the stairs to the next level.

Head right and underneath the waterfall to find a hidden path in the wall,

follow it all the way and down some stairs into a room with three chests,

open them to get the Blood Lance, Protect Ring and Lamia Harp, the

Protect Ring is an especially important accessory, this is equippable by all

jobs and reduces all elemental damage by 50%. Head back to the entrance

then go all the way down the steps and through the water until you hit the

wall, go left to find a locked room with a Diamond Shield inside, this is

also the best place to find the Pterodactyl enemy. Back in the main room,

head over to the right hand side and open the locked door, enter it to find

what you came here for, Noah's Lute, pick it up then Teleport back to the

Nautilus.

Resurface and follow the coastline on the left a little, after the third river

you should find a gap in the mountains, fly through to find a cave, land

and head inside. Head straight up and approach the bed for a scene after

which Unei will join your party. Head back out and onto the Nautilus and

again follow the coastline north, you will find a small island completely

covered in forest with a river that splits and goes around it out into the

ocean, head right when you reach it and follow the river to a cave, save

your game and head inside.

Ancient Ruins

Page 59: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

Enemies - Pyralis (1,3-7), Silenus (4-7), Gaap (4-7), Azrael (1,3-7),

Eater (1,3-7), Zombie Dragon (4-7)

Items - Black Belt Gi, Chakra Band, Faerie Claws, Reflect Mail,

Rune Bell

Head down and to the right to find a group of men pacing about, speak to

them and they will tell you that the path ahead is blocked, interact with

the rock and a scene will show Unei clearing the path, head down and

around the corner enter the first room you see, inside is Reflect Mail then

head into the second door to the next level.

This is actually a safe floor, head north and ignore the stairs you see on

your right and you will see some more researchers and a bunch of

doorways, inside are shops and an inn, here are their wares.

Armour Store

Diamond Shield - 18,000 Gil

Diamond Helm - 20,000 Gil

White Robe - 27,000 Gil

Black Robe - 27,000 Gil

Diamond Mail - 32,000 Gil

Diamond Bracers - 10,000 Gil

Diamond Gloves - 10,000 Gil

Weapon Store

Defender - 28,000 Gil

Blood Lance - 28,000 Gil

Medusa Arrow - 300 Gil

Item Store/Inn

Hi-Potion - 600 Gil

Gold Needle - 100 Gil

Maiden's Kiss - 100 Gil

Echo Herbs - 100 Gil

Page 60: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

Mallet - 100 Gil

Eye Drops - 40 Gil

Antidote - 80 Gil

Gyshal Greens - 150 Gil

Stay - 200 Gil

When you are ready, head to the next floor.

On the next floor, follow the path until you reach a fork in the road, head

south all the way and turn left when you can't go any further, enter the

room to get a Black Belt Gi. Head out and back up the way you came,

take the first right you see and go into the room to get a Chakra Band.

Head out and on the main path go north, ignore the left as it's where you

started and at the next crossroad you need to go into rooms down the left

and right paths, inside the rooms you will find a Rune Bell and Faerie

Claws when you have both continue north and follow the path around to

the next floor.

For the next group of floors there are no more chests of hidden pathways

to find, all paths are extremely linear, just follow them to the end of floor

7 where you will find the Invincible and a scene will play out with Unei

showing you how to use the airship.

The Invincible is a fantastic aircraft, inside it has a weapon, armour, magic

and item store, your own free to use inn, two Moogles, one for Mognet

and the other to check your progress when it comes to Bestiary and chests

collected (right now you should be at 68% for Bestiary and 69% for

chests).

We are now going to do another portion of a Mognet side quest, speak to

the Moogle and you should have two more letters from Cid, one called

When You Were Babies and the other called Something in the

Basement...., read them both. You should also have a couple of letters

from The Four Old Men, read both of these as well then switch Arc to the

front of the party, speak with the Moogle again and you should have a

letter from Alus. Once you have read all the letters interact with the wheel

Page 61: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

to the right of the Moogles to fly the airship and head to the Floating

Continent.

When you arrive fly yourself over to Canaan, head in and up the Cid's

house in the northern part of town, speak to him and he will tell you about

the monster in his basement, head down the stairs and approach the enemy

Aeon. This guy is more or less a copy of the boss Gutsco you fought much

earlier in the game, he has 10,000 HP and should go down in one or two

rounds, after the fight a small scene will play and you will get an

Unknown Metal, head upstairs and speak to Cid and he will tell you it is

in fact Orichalcum, the metal the Legendary Blacksmith asked you to find.

Once everything is done, head back out to the airship and return to the

Surface World.

Once you have returned to the Surface World, head over to Castle Saronia,

fly south/south-west and look for a gap the mountains for you to fly

through HERE, the circled mountains are the ones you may now traverse

with the Invincible airship, to do so fly right up to them and an

exclamation bubble will appear above the airship, tap the bubble (not the

airship or it will take you inside - very annoying) and you will fly over

them, head south and over another small mountain then disembark once

you are in the clearing and enter the nearby town.

Falgabard

Enemies - Silenus, Gaap, Death Claw, Valefor, Haniel, Shinobi

Items - Ashura, Blessed Hammer x2, Kotetsu, Demon Mail x2,

Demon Shield, Hi-Potion, Kiku-Ichimonji

When you enter go straight the north-west end of the town to find an old

man beside a cave entrance, enter the Training Cave. The enemies in here

will multiply when hit with regular physical attacks, the only way to avoid

this is to use a dark blade equipped by a Dark Knight, attack with magic

or make the regular attack the killing blow.

When you are good to go open the chest right beside you to get a Blessed

Hammer then head through the wall to your right and follow the path

Page 62: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

around to another chest with Demon Mail inside. Again head through the

wall to your right for two more chests with an Ashura and Kotetsu inside

them. That's everything we can grab here, head back out to the village and

head right from the cave entrance, when you reach the river approach the

waterfall from the riverbank to enter a hidden cave, head north slightly

and take the steps into the water, follow the river out of the cave and down

to some steps that take you onto a small island with a large boulder in the

centre. Zoom in and around the boulder you can pick up a Hi-Potion,

Demon Shield, Demon Mail and Blessed Hammer off the ground. When

you have everything head back inside the cave and into the northern part

to find an old man, if you speak to him he will challenge you to a battle

as the enemy Shinobi. This isn't a difficult fight, he has 11,000 HP, his

attacks can do reasonable damage but he only gets one attack per turn, his

attacks do have the ability to cause status ailments so as long as you stay

on top of them he should be dealt with within a couple of turns, after your

victory the old man will give you the Kiku-Ichimonji. That's everything

for us to do here unless you want to do some shopping, here are their

inventories.

Armour Store

Demon Mail - 25,000 Gil

Demon Shield - 12,500 Gil

Weapon Store

Ashura - 16,000 Gil

Yoichi Bow - 42,000 Gil

Yoichi Arrow - 500 Gil

Demon Axe - 40,000 Gil

When you are ready, head out and back to the Invincible and fly over to

Amur, when you reach it fly north/north-east until you reach a desert area

then fly towards the mountains and follow them north until you can enter

a gap where you will find more of the mini-mountains you can fly over.

This next part is a bit of a maze, I will try to direct you through here as I

Page 63: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

am very poor at creating maps, at the beginning you will have the option

of going down or right, go right and we will make this the starting

position.

From the starting position, follow these directions - Right, Down, Down,

Down, Right, Down, Up, Up, Right, Right, Up, Up, Up, Left, Up, Left,

2nd Down, Down, Down. After following these steps you should arrive

in a forest covered area in front of a cave entrance, when you are ready

head inside.

Cave of Shadows

Enemies - Silenus, Gaap, Death Claw, Hellish Horse, Chronos,

Valefor, Haniel, Vassago, BOSS

Items - Black Musk, Dark Claws, Kotetsu, Genji Armour, Genji

Helm, Genji Shield, Genji Gloves, Kiku-Ichimonji, Lilith's Kiss,

Tranquilizer

Enemies here behave just like those in the Training Cave of Falgabard,

unless hit with a dark blade, magic or killing blow they will duplicate

themselves, the only enemies excluded from this are Death Claws and

Hellish Horses.

When you enter, head to the right and through a hidden wall to find a room

with a chest containing Black Musk, head back to the main room and go

south, follow the path until you come to a chest with Dark Claws inside

then go to the right and speak with the Dark Knight there, after some

dialogue they will give you a Kotetsu then take the stairs below you to the

next floor.

Follow the path right then up, on the left wall as you go up there is a

hidden path leading to a chest with a Tranquilizer, head back to the main

path and follow it to a dead end, there is a hidden path in the left wall,

directly on the other end is a chest with a Lilith's Kiss inside, go down

into a hidden path and follow it all the way until you find the steps down

to the next level.

Page 64: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

Nothing to find on this floor, simply follow the path right around until you

reach the next stairs down.

Go immediately to your right when you enter this floor, through a hidden

path you will come to a room with three separate hidden paths all leading

south. Take the left most one and on the other end will be a chest with

Genji Gloves inside then take the stairs just below you to the next floor.

On this floor go right straight away and follow the path down and then

left, you will come to a chest with a Kiku-Ichimonji inside, take the steps

below you to the next floor.

Open the chest just to your left as you enter to get a Genji Shield, this

floor is an exact copy of the one before it, just head right, down then left

and take the stairs out.

A nice and quick floor, head to the right over the spine-bridge, on the other

end is a chest with a Genji Helm inside the take the steps above you to the

final floor.

As you enter go to your right and through the wall to a small room, open

the chest to get the Genji Armour then return to the main path and head

north to find the Fang of Earth, interact with it to see a scene and meet its

protector.

!!!!!!!!!BOSS BATTLE!!!!!!!

Hectonheir

HP - 28,000

EXP - 14,400

Gil - 8,000

Weaknesses - None

If you were able to take down Odin earlier then this guy will be a walk in

the park. Hecto has two attacks, a physical one that does about 400-500

damage and Quake which can hit the whole party for around the same, so

long as you keep your healing consistent and you are dealing enough

Page 65: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

damage this battle should be over within 4-5 turns. Once the battle is over

Teleport or work your way out of the cave then board your airship and

make the trip back out of the maze, when you have done that head to the

Floating Continent.

When you make it to the Floating Continent make your way to Argus

Castle, from there you want to head south-west you are looking for a small

lake behind a pair of traversable mountains, you will know when you've

found it because you can see the shadow of something big moving around

in the lake, before going further save your game then fly over the

mountains then immediately go inside the Invincible and disembark, walk

into the lake and paddle around in your canoe until you locate the entrance

to the next dungeon.

Lake Dohl

Enemies - Ouroboros, Plancti, Sea Lion, Remora, BOSS

Items - Aegis Shield, Arctic Wind, Bacchus's Cider, Black Hole,

Black Musk, Earthen Drums, Elixir, Hi-Potion x3, Heavenly Wrath,

Lilith's Kiss, Phoenix Down, Platinum Hammer x2, Raven's Yawn,

Reflect Mail, Turtle Shell, White Musk

!!!!!WARNING!!!!

All enemies and chests in this area are missable; once the boss is

defeated and you leave you CANNOT return

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Head down into the cave and follow the path until you come to a fork,

take the southern path and you will immediately find two chests

containing a Phoenix Down and Heavenly Wrath, then head over a little

to the right to find two more with an Arctic Wind and Earthen Drum. Take

the northern path now and you will come to four chests, from left to right

you will get three Hi-Potions and an Elixir then take the stairs just below

you.

Page 66: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

Follow the path until you reach an open area and head north to find a

group of four chests, open them all to receive an Aegis Shield, Platinum

Hammer, Bacchus's Cider and Turtle Shell, when you have them, head

south and open another chest for a White Musk then head south-east down

a small opening to find the stairs to the next floor.

Make your way along the path until you come to a four-way split. Take

the top-right path first to find three chests containing Reflect Mail,

Platinum Hammer and Black Hole then just to the left a little more will be

another with Black Musk inside. Head back to the split and this time take

the bottom-left path for the last two chests holding a Lilith's Kiss and

Raven's Yawn. Head back to the split a final time and head up the top-left

path and take the stairs to the next floor. When you arrive ensure your

party is at max HP and if you have a mage able to use it I suggest

equipping the Erase spell, A Viking with two Blessed Hammers is also an

amazing advantage as the coming boss is weak to lightning, a Dragoon

with two Thunder Spears is equally good. Finally I would advise against

bringing a Geomancer into the fight as their attacks generally fare poorly.

When you are ready make your way around the room and approach for a

big fight.

!!!!!!!!!!!!BOSS BATTLE!!!!!!!!!!

Leviathan

HP - 32,000

EXP - 20,000

Gil - 17,100

Weaknesses- Lightning

Leviathan is a pretty powerful enemy, he has a variety of attacks and spells

at his disposal, his basic physical attack does about 400-500 damage and

can also petrify your characters, he can also use Blizzaga for magic

damage though this only did around 350 max to my team. Leviathan can

also cast Protect and Haste to boost its defence and speed and finally his

signature move Tsunami which deals 700+ damage to all characters. If

Page 67: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

you have that Viking with the Blessed Hammers use them, I was dealing

9,999 damage each attack with a Lv.47 character and JL.70. Have your

mage (I still had Red) use either Thundaga or healing spells and have your

other characters either attack or act as support and use potions/gold

needles where needed. If you had a Viking like me the fight will be over

in three turns assuming they don't get petrified. At the end of the battle

you will be given the Leviath spell to summon Leviathan, then back track

out of the lake making sure you haven't missed any chests or enemies, as

I warned before, once you leave here you cannot return. When you are

happy, return to your airship.

Next we want to fly over to the eastern edge of the Floating Continent,

make your way to Gyshal and when you arrive fly south-west towards

Tozus (the Mini village). In that area amongst the mountains you should

see a cave that can only be accessed by a small wall of mountains that you

can fly over, do so and leave the airship to enter the cave.

Bahamut's Lair

Enemies - Grenade (1), Drake (1-3), Greater Boros (2,3), Sabertooth

Liger (2,3), Queen Lamia (3 rare), BOSS

Items - Arctic Wind, Bacchus's Cider, Chocobo's Wrath, Earthen

Drums, Elixir, Eurytos Bow, Golem Staff, Heavenly Wrath,

Kotetsu, Phoenix Down x2, Turtle Shell, White Musk

Head down and over the first bridge then at the crossroad go left and pick

up a Heavenly Wrath and Earthen Drums from two chests. Return to the

centre and this time go right for an Arctic Wind and Phoenix Down, then

once more at the centre, head south to the next level.

Go left and across a bridge, pick up the Golem Staff in the chest on your

way and continue south following the path right around opening another

chest with a White Musk as you go. After another bridge you will get a

Bacchus's Cider then go south to find another two chests with Chocobo's

Wrath and a Turtle Shell inside, take the stairs now to reach the final floor.

Page 68: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

Grab the Eurytos Bow from the chest to your left as you walk in, this is

the only floor you can find a Queen Lamia on and it is rare, but you can

take care of that after the boss if you wish. Just around the corner are three

more chests with a Phoenix Down, Elixir and Kotetsu inside then stop and

prepare your party, a Dragoon with two Wind Spears is a massive bonus

and I suggest you take it, once you are ready head over the bridge to face

another powerful foe.

!!!!!!!!!!BOSS BATTLE!!!!!!!!!!!

Bahamut

HP - 34,000

EXP - 20,000

Gil - 16,500

Weaknesses - Wind

With your Dragoon this will be an easy battle, have your party attack, your

healer should defend or cast protective magic and have your Dragoon use

Jump. Every turn use Cura or Curaga to ensure your party is at full health,

continue attacking with your other characters. When your Dragoon comes

down they should deal 9,999 damage, if it's a critical hit that is even better

as I am 99% certain that critical hits can break the 9,999 damage cap, I

believe this because I killed Bahamut in two turns, the first I dealt just

over 5,000 damage to him, on the second turn my Red Mage used Cura

and my Dragoon came down and hit Bahamut for a 9,999 critical hit which

defeated him instantly, I cannot think of any other explanation for this

happening. If the above does not occur for you, just keep following up

with Jump. Bahamut's biggest danger is his Megaflare attack which if you

are under levelled and poorly equipped can be disastrous for your team

but you should be able to survive it, on the next turn be sure to heal up

with your best spell and maybe even use an elixir on one of your main

melee characters to ensure they survive, it should take a maximum of 3

Jump attacks to win the battle, once you do you will receive the Bahamur

spell to summon Bahamut in battle, you will also unlock

Page 69: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

No Such Thing as Too Many20 (10)

??????? (Secret)

Unlocked by 176 tracked gamers (24% - TA Ratio = 2.05)735

Unfortunately because Bahamut makes you come out in the open from a

different cave exit you cannot Teleport or Ottershroom as it will just take

you back to where you fought Bahamut, work your way through the caves

and back to the Invincible.

That's all we can do here for the time being so make your way back to the

Surface World then head to the Ancient Cave to retrieve the Nautilus then

fly down to Doga's Manor and go inside for a scene then step on the warp

point to take you to a new area.

Doga's Grotto

Enemies - Peryton, Ogre, Cyclops, Nemesis, Humbaba, BOSS

Items - 10,000 Gil x2, Chocobo's Wrath, Lust Dagger, Phoenix

Down x2, Rising Sun, White Musk

!!!!!WARNING!!!!

All enemies and chests in this area are missable; once the boss is

defeated and you leave you CANNOT return

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On the first floor follow the winding path all the way down to the stairs to

the next floor.

Head over to your left and collect 10,000 Gil from the chest then follow

the path all the way to the end for a second chest with another 10,000 Gil

inside, once you have them both continue to the next level.

Page 70: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

Head over to the left to find an opening to another room, head in and

collect a White Musk, Lust Dagger and Rising Sun from the chests then

head back out to the main room and over on the right side of the area you

can find another room, inside is a chest with Chocobo's Wrath and the

stairs to the next floor down the southern path.

On the next floor, grab the Phoenix Down and continue along the path and

at the bottom you will find another Phoenix Down. Check your characters

and make sure you’re are at max HP and the jobs you want and head into

the next room and up the path for a scene.

!!!!!!!!!!!BOSS BATTLE!!!!!!!!!

Doga

HP - 22,800

EXP - 13,600

Gil - 12,000

Weaknesses - None

Doga is a pretty easy boss, his HP is much lower than recent foes but he

does possess the spells Firaga and Flare, both able to deal some heavy

damage, a couple of turns with your heavy hitters and dedicated healing

from your support team members should be more than enough to finish

him off, another scene will play straight after.

!!!!!!!!!BOSS BATTLE!!!!!!!!!!

Unei

HP - 21,800

EXP - 16,000

Gil - 12,600

Weaknesses - None

Unei is a much more deadly than Doga, she has a pretty solid physical

attack and she has an arsenal of spells at her disposal able to use Holy,

Haste, Aeroga, Protect and worst of all Tornado which will reduce a party

Page 71: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

members HP to a single digit, if she follows up on the same character with

any other attack they will certainly be KO'd. Use Curaga or Raise

whenever someone takes some serious hits and have your damage dealers

do what they do best, despite her powerful attacks she has less HP than

Doga and won’t take long to fall.

Another scene will play out and you will be given the Eureka and Syrcus

Keys, when you are ready make your way out of the grotto but remember

to make sure you have all weapons AND enemies accounted for.

Once you are back on the world map, take the Nautilus back and swap it

over for the Invincible then fly over towards the Cave of Shadows, once

you hit the desert area go north-west slightly and you should see a path

with some statues on either side, you must disembark from the Invincible

and walk between all four sets of statues, until this point in the game doing

so without all four Fangs of Elements would have killed you but it is now

safe. Before going any further, we can collect some more monsters here

for the Bestiary in the grass here and the patches of forest.

Enemies - Death Needle, Liger, Aeon, Minotaur

When you have those board the Invincible once more and fly over the

mountains to the north then head to your right where you will find a large

tower surrounded by a large wall with an opening, land wherever you like

and enter.

Ancient's Maze

Enemies - Iron Claws, Greater Demon, Unei's Clone, Thanatos,

Bone Dragon (2,3,5), King Behemoth (5), BOSS

Items - Break Blade, Chocobo's Wrath, Crystal Gloves, Crystal

Helm, Crystal Mail, Chrystal Shield, Dual Haken, Elixir, Hellish

Claws, Holy Lance, Lilith's Kiss, Phoenix Down x3, Protect Ring,

White Musk

Page 72: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

Before doing anything else here, head straight ahead of you and through

the door to enter the crystal chamber, ensure you are at max HP etc. and

approach the crystal for a scene.

!!!!!!!!!!!BOSS BATTLE!!!!!!!!!

Titan

HP - 29,000

EXP - 27,600

Gil - 13,500

Weaknesses - None

Titan is a pretty simple boss and is more or less just a beefed up version

of Hectonheir whom you defeated a while ago. His attacks are identical

albeit a bit stronger with his physical attack dealing around 700+ damage

to my more defensively sound characters and Quake dealing about 500+

to the whole party. If you have a White Mage I suggest using Protect on

them and any other mage characters with lower defence, beside that it's a

pretty simple fight, just keep your HP up, with Titans low health at only

29,000 it shouldn't be a very long battle.

After the fight you will unlock

Quelling the Tremors10 (5)

??????? (Secret)

Unlocked by 198 tracked gamers (27% - TA Ratio = 1.93)735

And obtain the final jobs in the game - Black Belt, Magus, Devout,

Summoner, Sage and Ninja

Exit the Earth Crystal room and go right, follow the path up and open the

chest you find to get an Elixir then go to your left and take the stairs up.

Page 73: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

First head over to your left and pick up a Crystal Shield and Lilith's Kiss

then go to your right and follow the path to a chest with Crystal Mail

inside then go straight up and open another chest for White Musk. Head

to your right and follow the path around a bit more to another chest with

Crystal Gloves inside then go to the right to reach the next level.

Go straight ahead to your right and get the Crystal Helm from a chest then

go down and follow the path until you reach the crossroad and go down

again to find three chests with a Break Blade, Chocobo's Wrath and

Phoenix Down inside. Head back up and take the right path this time and

follow it around to the exit, before going through go just over to the left

to collect a Dual Haken from the chest then make your way to the next

floor.

This floor is relatively quick and easy, just follow the single path all the

way to the end, collecting a Phoenix Down when you reach about halfway

through. At the end, pick up a Protect Ring from a chest and head up to

the final floor.

On this floor you can find the extremely rare King Behemoth enemy (1%

encounter rate) if you happen to have one and want a couple more Protect

Rings for your party bring a JL.99 Thief into the battle for a chance to

steal one, the King Behemoths also have a 10% chance to drop the rings.

Head straight up and pick up the Holy Lance inside the chest then head

around using either the left or right side path and at the top end of the

room open the chest for the Hellish Claws, that's everything here, once

you have filled your Bestiary head out.

Go straight into the building in front of you and run up the stairs where

you will find a tower with a moat surrounding it, walk inside and up to

the glyph on the wall, interact with it and you will be taken to another

area.

Eureka, The Forbidden Land

Page 74: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

Enemies - Abaia (1-4), Sleipnir (1-4,6,7), Haokah (1-4,6,7),

Acheron (5-7), Oceanus (5-7), Ninja, Amon, Kunoichi, General,

Guardian, Scylla

Items - Chocobo's Wrath x2, Elixir x4, Fuma Garb, Phoenix Down

x3, Ribbon, Shuriken x4, White Musk x3, Elder Staff, Excalibur,

Ragnarok, Muramasa, Omnirod, Moonring Blade

This place is where you will find some of the most powerful weapons in

the game, it also hosts a few bosses for us and stores as well.

From where you arrive, head down the left path and then to the right where

the path splits to pick up a Fuma Garb and Chocobo's Wrath then go over

to the right side of the room and take a left when you can to find a White

Musk and Elixir then head to the southern end of the room to reach the

next floor.

Head south and take the path on the left, when you see a doorway head

inside and open the chest for a White Musk, return to the main room and

head over to the right side to find another room with three chests holding

a Phoenix Down, White Musk and Chocobo's Wrath then head outside

and south slightly, just to your left behind the wall that begins is a hidden

path, follow it to reach a chest, heal your party before opening it then

claim the Ribbon inside.

!!!!!!!!!BOSS BATTLE!!!!!!!!!

Ninja

HP - 24,000

EXP - 28,400

Gil - 14,400

Weaknesses - None

Not too tough of a boss, he gets the usual 2 hits per turn and for me seemed

to get critical hits fairly often, his attacks will also deal out the poison and

blind statuses so be ready with Eye Drops and Antidotes. He doesn't have

Page 75: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

particularly high defence and that together with his low HP makes this a

pretty quick fight.

When you are done there head south and take the left path at the split to

some stairs, take them down to the next floor only to find a dead end with

a chest holding a Shuriken then head back to the previous level and around

to the right side to reach the second set of steps down.

Head down and over a bridge then take a left up a small path to an Elixir

in a chest. Return to the main path and follow it around to the end, collect

a Shuriken from a chest along the way as well as a Phoenix Down in

another when you reach the end then head down the stairs to the next floor.

This next floor is extremely simple, follow the path down until you see a

weapon spinning in place on a pedestal, and make sure your team is

healthy then interact with it to trigger a fight.

!!!!!!!!!BOSS BATTLE!!!!!!!!!

Amon

HP - 33,500

EXP - 26,800

Gil - 20,350

Weaknesses - Varies

While this guy more or less looks like Hein, he isn't that tough, he usually

uses physical attacks which deal about 400-500 damage, he can use

Protect but this isn't very common and will use either Firaga, Thundaga

or Blizzaga every few turns. He employs the same Barrier Shift ability to

change his elemental weakness, just keep to physical attacks though and

you should be ok.

When Amon is defeated you will be awarded the Moonring Blade,

afterwards continue along the path to reach the next floor.

Page 76: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

Head south until you reach the crossroad and take the left path first to

collect an Omnirod then head over to the right side to find another

weapon, get yourself ready then approach it.

!!!!!!!!BOSS BATTLE!!!!!!!

Kunoichi

HP - 29,000

EXP - 29,200

Gil - 14,500

Weaknesses - None

A completely new foe this time around. Kunoichi again doesn't have a lot

of HP but she can be deadly, Kunoichi has the ability to attack 3 times per

turn employing physical attacks and the spells Aeroga and Haste. Like the

Ninja, Kunoichi seems to land critical hits often and does around 700

damage with them, Aeroga dealing 600+ to all party members. If she does

use Haste you will want to defeat her ASAP as this will increase her

damage potential a great deal.

Once defeated you will get the Muramasa weapon. Head back to the main

path and go south towards the exit while opening a chest with a Phoenix

Down inside along the way.

Head south and over a bridge then go left and work your way around until

you find the exit, ignore it for now and continue over to the right until you

find another pedestal, you know what to do here.

!!!!!!!!BOSS BATTLE!!!!!!!

General

HP - 34,000

EXP - 30,000

Gil - 15,600

Weaknesses - None

Page 77: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

This guy can be a real pain. While the General will normally stick with

physical attacks he does have a few spells up his sleeve with the ability to

cast Drain, Bio and worst of all Death, this is his most deadly weapon as

it has a 35% chance of instantly KO'ing any member of your party, should

it be successful have mage use Raise as quick as you can then continue

the attack until victory is yours.

When you defeat General you will be awarded the weapon Excalibur,

once you have it head back to the exit and up to the next room.

Head straight up and for now ignore the warp pad in the centre, head over

to the left first and interact with the pedestal

!!!!!!!!!BOSS BATTLE!!!!!!!!

Scylla

HP - 35,000

EXP - 30,800

Gil - 16,200

Weaknesses - None

Scylla is quite an easy boss to take out, her biggest threat is that her attacks

can cause the petrified status, if this happens heal the afflicted character

as quick as possible. Scyalla has access to some powerful magic being

able to use Thundaga, Firaga, Holy and Flare as well as being able to use

Curaja to heal herself. You should be around level 55+ by this point in the

game with everyone’s HP at least over 2,500 so you shouldn't have a great

deal of trouble.

Once defeated you will get the Elder Staff, when you can head over to the

right to fight once more.

!!!!!!!!BOSS BATTLE!!!!!!!!

Guardian

HP - 33,700

Page 78: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

EXP - 31,600

Gil - 16,500

Weaknesses - None

If you use magic a lot this guy will take a bit longer than normal as he will

usually cast Reflect on himself early in the fight, if that happens either

resort to physical attacks or use items instead. Guardians regular attacks

have the ability to confuse your characters and with the strength they

should now possess this is really the biggest threat with this fight, if you

have a mage have them attack the confused player as they are usually

lighter and faster, if you are using a Ninja however they will likely strike

before you can do anything to fix it. Spells at Guardians disposal other

than Reflect are Quake which you should know how to deal with by now

and Tornado, heal yourself straight away if hit with this and able to

survive any follow up attacks.

You will be rewarded with the Ragnarok weapon for your efforts; once

you have it head back to the centre of the room and step on the warp point.

In the final room there are no random encounters, walk up to find two

mage characters standing in the centre with four chests around them, open

all four to find two Elixirs and two Shurikens, once you get the second

Shuriken you will unlock

Speaking to the mages in the middle as well as a third mage accessed by

going through a hidden path to the right of the first two will give you three

stores with great items for purchase.

Page 79: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

Magic Store 1

Flare - 60,000 Gil

Death - 60,000 Gil

Meteor - 60,000 Gil

Tornado - 60,000 Gil

Arise - 60,000 Gil

Holy - 60,000 Gil

Magic Store 2

Catastro - 60,000 Gil

Leviath - 60,000 Gil

Bahamur - 60,000 Gil

Weapon/Armour Store

Shuriken - 65,000 Gil

Crystal Shield - 50,000 Gil

Crystal Mail - 50,000 Gil

Crystal Helm - 50,000 Gil

Crystal Gloves - 50,000 Gil

Apollo Harp - 50,000 Gil

Purchase all the spells in the first store, personally I didn't bother with

Death as I didn't think it necessary. You can ignore the second store as we

will have all of the summon spells already, finally in the hidden store you

shouldn't need another set of crystal gear, buy yourself an Apollo Harp

then buy a bunch of Shurikens but try leave yourself about 100,000 Gil

just in case you need it for other things then once you are done use

Teleport to head outside, I suggest saving your game.

Time for us to finish off a few side quests. Head back through the

Ancient's Maze to reach the Invincible and once on board fly yourself to

Falgabard, the Dark Knight town to the west of Saronia, nestled within

the mountains. Head in once you arrive and head up, just east of the

weapon store you can find the Legendary Blacksmith, speak with her for

Page 80: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

a scene where you hand over the Orichalcum, after which she will give

you the Ultima Weapon, after the scene ends you will unlock

Unlocked by 153 tracked gamers (21% - TA Ratio = 2.20)735

You can now go searching for the Legendary Blacksmith in the following

towns

Ur - Inside the well

Castle Sasune - East Tower, 3rd floor

Healing Copse (Near the Gnome village, Tozus)

Village of Ancients - Inn

Gyshal - Chocobo Stables

Replito - Inside a house in the northern part of town

Dwarven Hollow - Inside room that takes you to Subterranean Lake

Saronia Castle - Basement

Doga's Village - Central island

Ancient Ruins - Inn

The quickest and best way to find her is to just fly between Gyshal and

Healing Copse until she turns up, when you speak to her she will give you

1 item for a job you have reached level 99 with, you can only receive one

item per job, so four level 99 Warriors will still only receive the one

reward, if you have multiple level 99's in the party at the same time you

will be rewarded with the item for the first Job in the order they appear in

the menu. Once you are done you can head back through the Ancient's

Maze for the final push in the story.

Yellow Dragon (5), Green Dragon (6), Red Dragon (7), Glasya

Labolas (4-7), Thor (6,7), BOSS

Items - Chocobo's Wrath x3, Crystal Gloves, Crystal Helm, Crystal

Mail, Crystal Shield, Elixir x5, Elven Bow, Fuma Garb, Lilith's

Kiss, Phoenix Down x5, Shuriken, White Musk x2

Head straight up to the back of the first room, on the left and right sides

of the entrance to Eureka you can find a Lilith's Kiss and Chocobo's

Wrath, when you have them both head over to the right side of the room

and pick up an Elven Bow in a chest above you then over to the right for

another Chocobo's Wrath. Head down the stairs to the left the chest with

the Chocobo's Wrath inside and on the lower floor you can find a White

Musk and Chocobo's Wrath. Head back to the centre of the room where

the entrance to Eureka is and head over to the left side now ad down the

stairs you find to get a Fuma Garb, head back up and get the White Musk

from the last chest here then head north and interact with the door for

another scene before heading to the next level.

Follow the path around and head north as soon as the path opens up to get

an Elixir. Head back to the main path and grab a Phoenix Down along the

way. At the next split in the path head north-west to reach another Elixir

then head back and go the opposite way until you find a door to the next

floor.

Head to your right on the new floor and follow the path until you reach a

chest with an Elixir inside. Just below the Elixir on your right is a gap in

the wall you can walk through; take the path around and up some stairs to

the next room.

On this next floor, take the path around until you reach a chest with a

Phoenix Down inside then walk to your left through the wall down a

hidden path to the other side and open the chest with a Shuriken inside.

Follow the path up and all the way around to take some stairs back down

to the previous floor.

Page 82: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

Head south and follow the path until you come to two chests with a

Phoenix Down and Elixir inside then head right and take the southern end

of the circular floor and go down the path on your right where it breaks

off to find another Elixir then head back to the circular floor and go north

to reach the next room.

Nothing to find on this floor, just go straight ahead and through to the next

one.

There isn't any chests for us to find on this level, the only thing of interest

is that this is the only floor you can locate a Yellow Dragon (5% chance),

you can try to find one if you wish but there will be an endgame dungeon

later where this will be a common enemy, the choice is yours, a perk for

fighting these is that they have a chance to drop a piece of the rare and

powerful Onion set. When you are ready to go head right and through a

doorway in the wall then south and follow this path all the way to the

lower end of the room until you come to a bridge, walk over the bridge to

head to the next floor.

On this floor you will be able to find the Green Dragon, it is just as rare

as the yellow one before it and will also be a common enemy later on, the

choice is yours to fight it here or not. On your left and right sides will be

two paths that branch out, follow them both to their ends to get a Phoenix

Down on one side and Crystal Mail on the other, you can then return to

the centre and head up the stairs to the next floor.

On this floor you will pretty much do the same as the last, head both left

and right then north on each side to get four chests in total containing

Crystal Gloves, Crystal Shield, Crystal Helm and Phoenix down, you can

also encounter the Red Dragon here if you wish. Once you are ready head

into the next room.

This is the point of no return for the game, once you head forward and

approach the mirror ahead you cannot leave until the final boss has been

defeated. If you wish to, use Teleport or an Ottershroom to exit and save

your progress so far. You should make sure your party is a full health and

organize your jobs, one Devout should be in the party, check your items

Page 83: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

and if you don't have any Shell Breakers you may want to consider a

Scholar as well, make the other two spots a couple of hard hitters like the

Knight, Viking or Ninja. Make sure you are ready then head into the

mirror for a long scene.

!!!!!!!!!!BOSS BATTLE!!!!!!!!!

Xande

HP - 49,999

EXP - 34,000

Gil - 25,000

Weaknesses - None

Your characters should be floating around the Lv. 60 mark by now and

that is more than enough to take this guy down, personally I had a party

made of a Knight, Devout, Ninja and Black Belt all over JL. 25, just make

sure all characters are dual wielding their best weapons, a Knight with

Ragnarok and Ultima Weapon is crazy strong. Xande can use some

powerful magic, ranging from the three elemental -aga spells, Meteor as

well as Protect and Haste. If you have Shell Breakers use them after he

uses one of the buffs or if you brought a Scholar with you just use Study

to dispel it. Have your Devout begin to cast Reflect to protect yourself

from the magic, then hit him with everything you got while your Devout

keeps everyone in good shape. Although Xande's HP is a bit higher than

other bosses up to this point it should only take an extra one or two turns

than usual to defeat him.

After defeating Xande a scene will play and you jump straight into another

fight with the Cloud of Darkness, as you might gather from the lack of

BOSS BATTLE announcements and probably your first turn, you are not

supposed to win this fight so just let it progress quickly and watch another

long scene.

When you have control again you can head back a little and speak to each

of the characters if you like then head into the swirling black hole at the

top end of the screen.

World of Darkness

Enemies - Shadow Master (NE/NW/SW/SE), Kage

(NE/NW/SE/SW), Yormungand (NE/NW/SE), Thor (CNTR),

Hydra (CNTR), Queen Scylla (NE/SE/SW/CNTR), Garm

(SW/CNTR), Twin Dragon (CNTR), Xande's Clone, Cerberus,

Two-Headed Dragon, Echidna, Ahriman, BOSS

Items - Ribbon x4

When you arrive there will be a warp pad in front of you, do not step on

it as it will take you directly to the final boss and you will miss out on the

other areas. The enemies listed above can be found through the

corresponding portal locations i.e. NE = North-Eastern Portal, CNTR =

Central.

Head down the south-west path first and step on the warp pad. When you

arrive in the next room head north slightly onto the long branching path

and go all the way to the left then head up from there onto a purple cloud-

like path and follow it to the end to find a chest containing a Ribbon, upon

opening it you will have to fight a Xande Clone, it is pretty much an exact

copy with 39,000 HP and slightly weaker attacks, you will fight one of

these each time you open a Ribbon chest here. Head back the way you

came and when you reach the long crystal path again head to the right and

up the very next purple path to a warp point at the end, before going in

make sure all of your party is a full health and equip two of them with the

Ribbons you should have, I suggest making sure your hardest hitter and

your Devout/White Mage wear them, when you are ready walk on the

warp then head towards the crystal in the next room.

!!!!!!!!!BOSS FIGHT!!!!!!!!!

Echidna

HP - 99,999

EXP - 66,666

Gil - 66,666

Weaknesses - None

Page 85: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

Echidna can be difficult if you aren't ready for her, she has a couple of

spells that quickly knock out your party if you are unlucky enough. She

has Tornado and Death at her disposal giving her the ability to either

knock you down to a single digit value of HP or just take you out instantly,

she also has the Quake and Drain spells to use in between. With the

Ribbons equipped the two characters wearing them will be immune to the

Death spell so that should help make things easier, while she has a lot of

HP you should be dealing out a minimum of 5,000+ damage per character

for a minimum of 15,000 per turn so it shouldn't take too long at all. After

your victory make your way back to the central hub you first arrived in

and head down the south-east path and warp to the next floor.

Head straight forward to open a chest, defeat the Xande Clone and get

another Ribbon which you should equip straight away. When you have

that make your way down either the left or right path all the way around

the path branches off to the north, take the northern path to find another

portal and head through, if you want a quick battle ahead, bring a Dragoon

with two Wind Spears equipped, when you are ready approach the crystal

on the other side.

!!!!!!!!BOSS BATTLE!!!!!!!

Ahriman

HP - 99,999

EXP - 66,666

Gil - 66,666

Weaknesses - Wind

If you did bring a Dragoon this fight will be over extremely quickly as

you can do massive amounts of damage with Jump, Ahriman's attacks can

cause petrify but with three of your four fighters wearing a Ribbon you

should be safe, if you do get unlucky just use a Gold Needle or the Stona

spell to quickly fix it. As well as this physical attack Ahriman will use

Meteor, Quake, Firaga, Thundaga and Blizzaga as well as Curaja to heal

itself though this only heals 4,000 HP or so making it not much of a

Page 86: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

problem. When victorious, return to the central hub and take the north-

eastern path.

When you arrive on the new floor simply follow the path ahead of you,

the room just wraps around itself until you eventually reach the portal with

no breaks in the path. About halfway you will find the next Ribbon/Xande

Clone chest then press on to your destination. In the next room just

approach the crystal.

!!!!!!!!!BOSS BATTLE!!!!!!!

Twin-Headed Dragon

HP - 99,999

EXP - 66,666

Gil - 66,666

For me this is the easiest boss you will find here. The Twin-Headed

Dragon has no special abilities or spells and simply relies on powerful but

defendable physical attacks that can cause the Silence status, but if you

have your mages equipped with a Ribbon it is an irrelevant thing to worry

about. Start the fight by casting Protect on your weakest characters

(defensively) first, the dragon can deal up to and over 1,500 damage so

this is a must, try to heal in between each Protect spell with Curaga or

Curaja then continue casting Protect, it shouldn't take long to win the

fight, once you have head back to the central hub and up the north-western

path to the next level.

Head through the room and over the purple cloud paths that bridge

between the crystal flooring. After the fourth purple bridge you cross over

you will be at a split path, take the south-western path first to find a chest

with the last Ribbon and Xande Clone. If you have followed this guide

completely then you will unlock

!!!!!!!!!BOSS BATTLE!!!!!!!!!!

Cerberus

HP - 99,999

EXP - 66,666

Gil - 66,666

Weaknesses - None

Cerberus is the second enemy you face that has the ability to attack three

times per turn. His physical attacks can inflict poison however you should

now all be equipped with Ribbons so this is no longer a threat. Other than

his regular attacks Cerberus can use the -aga spells and that is all, it really

is not a tough battle. Once you are done you can head back to the hub and

into the central warp point.

In this final area you will need to walk over invisible flooring between the

crystal platforms. Head up, right, up, left 3x, up, right x2, up, left then step

on another warp pad. In the next room ensure your strongest jobs, a

Devout and weapons are all equipped then head over the star-like floor to

face the final boss.

!!!!!!!!!!FINAL BOSS BATTLE!!!!!!!!

Cloud of Darkness

HP - 120,000

EXP - 99,999

Gil - 70,000

Weaknesses - None

Page 88: Walkthrough Final Fantasy III

The Cloud of Darkness can be a tough one, she is joined by two tentacles

on either side of her, you can attack and damage these but I didn't manage

to kill either after a few turns so I think it is best to simply focus all your

attacks on the female enemy in the centre. The Cloud of Darkness gets 2

attacks per turn as usual however the tentacles also get a turn each giving

the enemy four attacks per round which gives it massive damage potential.

Have your Devout cast Reflect and Protect on your weakest characters

first then continue until all of them are covered. The Cloud herself will

either physically attack you, use Bad Breath which will effectively waste

a turn for her with your Ribbons equipped, she has an attack called Particle

Beam which damages all members for about 1,000 damage and can also

cast Protect and Haste on herself. The Tentacles can either use physical

attacks or the Lightning spell, as I stated before I am not sure if they can

be killed or the amount of HP each Tentacle has, in my opinion the best

strategy is to focus all your most powerful attacks on the Cloud itself and

simply kill her before she kills you, with a Devout you should have at least

20 uses of Curaga and around 4-5 uses of Arise should anyone get KO'd.

Eventually you will whittle her health down an you will be victorious,

congratulations you have completed to story for Final Fantasy III, allow
