Hosts’ Letter of Welcome
Hosts’ Letter of Welcome OFSAA Girls’ A Championships
Walkerton and Kincardine
March 8 – 11, 2020
On behalf of the OFSAA organizing committee, we welcome you to Bruce County, specifically the communities of Walkerton and Kincardine. Congratulations on making it to the OFSAA Championships! We hope that your experience will be rewarding and we, along with our dedicated and hardworking committee wish you the best of luck.
We would like to thank some amazing people who have helped make this event happen. First, thanks to the OFSAA staff who have been there for us, fielding our questions and supporting us on this journey. In addition, we would like to thank our community who have shown such generosity donating funds, food, swag and their valuable time volunteering to help. As well we would like to thank our board and administration to allow us time to perform the many duties involved in hosting. We would also like to thank our partner hosts, the dedicated staff, and administration at Sacred Heart High School and Kincardine District Senior School, and the Kincardine community. It would never have happened without our committee of volunteers who have spent countless hours preparing for this event. Thank you so much! Finally, we would like to thank our athletes, many of whom we have coached for over 7 years. Our team is so excited to make your experience the best it can be. Take the time to be in the moment and really enjoy your experience at the OFSAA volleyball championship. Try to compete at your best level, take the opportunity to meet new people and enjoy our part of rural Ontario.
Let the games begin! Sincerely, Tanya Byers and Donnette Wand

Coaching Creed
Be a resourceful person able to assist the athlete to develop his/her athletic potential and self-dependency.
Recognize individual differences in athletes and always think of the athlete's long-term best interests.
Aim for excellence based upon realistic goals and the athlete's growth and development.
Lead by example. Teach and practice cooperation, self-discipline, respect for officials and opponents and proper attitudes in
language, dress and deportment.
Make sport challenging and fun. Skills and techniques need not be learned painfully.
Be honest and consistent with athletes. They appreciate knowing where they stand.
Be prepared to interact with the media, league officials and parents. They too have important roles to play in sport.
Coaching involves training by responsible people who are flexible and willing to continually learn and develop.
Physical fitness should be a lifelong goal for all Canadians. Encourage athletes to be fit all year, every year and not just for
the season.
OFSAA CODE OF BEHAVIOUR FOR SPECTATORS CHEER IN A POSITIVE MANNER
