BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ORGANISATION
•Registered not-for-profit, non-political, non-religious action group
•Started in 1996 by a Doctor couple Dr.Ramana & Dr.Prasanna Yashaswi
• To under take development activities for scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, and backward castes of below poverty line (BPL)
•Physically challenged welfare,
•Women empowerment,
•Child labor eradication
•Peace movements
•Poverty Eradication with social involvement
•To create awareness among rural people about health ,
education, and basic rights

To supply Artificial Limbs & Calipers,
Wheel Chairs & Tri-cycles to amputees and Polio victims
for FREE OF COST
PROJECT GOAL
Aims & Objectives
• The project seeks a revolution in the physically challenged through change in their behavioural attitude by boosting up their morale and by giving walking aids, counseling and showing them a livelihood
• We empower the women of the physically challenged families to take over the function of the earning male .
• We form self help groups among physically challenged and encourage them to develop small scale entrepreneurships .
• The rights of physically challenged will be enlightened by creating awareness regarding various G.Os, to empower them to approach the Government
Aims & Objectives
• As we believe in MOBILITY IS LIFE we always aid the physically challenged to stand on their own feet with out depending on others for their daily needs and livelihood .
• We are trying to undertake is BARRIER FREE ENVIRONMENT TO PHYSICALLY CHALLENGED as this is neglected by all.
• We maintain a REPAIR SECTION for artificial limbs and calipers as wear and tear often cripple the physically challenged as they will be exploited by the relatives and the local limb manufacturers.
• We work hard to eradicate SOCIAL STIGMA from the minds of physically challenged. This we call as WALK AWAY YOUR SOCIAL STIGMA (WAYSS).

WHY INCREASING PHYSICALLY CHALLENGED
• In India the number of physically challenged is rapidly rising.
• Road traffic accidents – Are negligence, ignorance, carelessness and ill luck. – Traveling on foot boards, – Leaning out of crowded buses and trains – Drying grains on high ways, – Ignoring traffic signals ,• Diseases
- Diabetes, - Tumors,- Septic wounds, - Cigarette smoking leading to gangrene and amputations.

WHY AN ARTIFICIAL LIMB CENTER AT GUNTUR
• A big district with lot of poor limb less• No artificial limb center nearby• Carrying of limbless to far off places involves
long distances journey, language and transport problems
• So for a big district like GUNTUR we feel we should have a limb center to cater to the needs of a large number of physically challenged not only from GUNTUR district but also from the neighboring districts.

• SO WE STARTED an artificial limb fitting center.• The center Is fully equipped with all the machinery
necessary for the manufacturing of artificial limbs and calipers .
• A separate body will monitor the function of the center.
• We manufacture artificial limbs and calipers, and distribute them to the needy on a priority basis .
• We also run a REPAIR CENTER to cater to the needy.
WHY AN ARTIFICIAL LIMB CENTER AT GUNTUR
• The target group is physically challenged people like amputees (limbless), polio victims, and cerebral palsy children.
• The registration of the amputees will be done in Government Hospital and in various private hospitals.
• The target group registration by out-reach programmes: Conducting free disability screening camps in rural & urban areas

Our aim is to follow a holistic approach towards a physically challenged
a) To give them psychological support
b) Stump physiotherapy to get a good looking ,active, painless, straight limb to facilitate easy fitting of a prosthesis
c) Issue of orthopedically handicap board certificate which will be beneficial to them to get bus n rail concessions, loans from banks , government schemes
HOLISTIC APPROACH
d) To help them through District Disabled Welfare Office to get various benefits from Govt and Non Govt organizations
e) Giving mobility through the artificial limbs & calipers; wheel chairs & tricycles
f) Vocational training to gain livelihoodg) Socially, psychologically , economically and

• Community sensitization is our prime motto for the welfare of the physically challenged.
• we form self help groups and cultural groups among physically challenged to improve their financial stability and prevent social stigma.
• The creation of awareness among the physically challenged regarding their rights, limbs maintenance and financial growth.
RISK ASSESSMENT AND MITIGATION STRATEGY
Only risk is misuse of the aids & appliances given
The mitigation of risk is by:1) Avoiding duplication by computerizing the
data of the beneficiaries 2) By promoting the repair section usage
regularly 3) By discouraging the people who are misusing
our aids
