children living in Greater London.
Welcome to
Hold hands with your child when out on the road. If your hands are full, children can hold onto something you are carrying or pushing.
Stop, Look, Listen and Think each time you cross the road.
Be careful of hazards such as reversing cars from driveways.
Be aware that parked cars can block out your view of traffic.
Wear fluorescent and reflective colours to be easily seen by other road users especially if it’s a dark evening.

It is important to be extra careful when choosing where to cross the road.
This film looks at some of the situations you can face.
Film 1:
Crossingthe road
A Traffic Island can help you to cross the road in two parts. Stop on the island and Look, Listen and Think before continuing to cross.
At a Pelican crossing you control the traffic by pressing the button. Only cross when the green man shows.
A Zebra crossing has black and white stripes and yellow flashing lights. It is important to make sure all traffic has stopped before you cross the road.
It is important to look for a safer crossing place when crossing the road.
This film looks at some of the safer crossing places.
When using a safer crossing place, it’s good to remember:
• Never stand on the edge of the kerb
• Make sure you can clearly see traffic in both directions before crossing
• Use Stop, Look, Listen and Think every time you cross the road

It is important to help children learn how to travel at a young age.
This film looks at ways to travel safely.
Wear fluorescent and reflective clothing to be seen in daylight... ...or at night
Road works can be a hazard, especially when travelling as pedestrian.
Watch out for things that can block your view of the road and traffic.

Choose routes with safer crossing places.
It is important to try to make your journeys as safe as possible.
This film looks at ways we can make your journey safer.

Planning a journey can help save you time. You can assess any risks and take positive action to make your journey safer.
This film looks at ways you can plan your journeys.
Remember walking is healthy for you and your children and helps the environment too!
Time of day is important to consider. At night you will need to make sure you can be seen easily.
Choose your mode of transport.
Check the weather conditions so you can wear appropriate clothing.
Check timetables for transport times.
Check your route on the TfL website to see the latest transport updates.
