Wal-mart an American multinational retailercorporation that runs chains of large discount storesand warehouses stores.

It is the biggest private employer in the world with over2 million employees, and the largest retailer in theworld.

The company was founded by Sam Walton in 1962.Wal-mart has 8500 stores in 15 countries ,under 55

different names.

In mid 1940s, walton gave up his job and decided to setup his own retail store.

By 1969, walton had established 18 wal-mart stores.

In mid 1970s, wal-mart acquired 16 mohr-value storesin michigan and illinois.

By 1984,there were 640 wal-mart stores in the US,generating sales of about $4.5 billion.

Wal-mart suffered a setback in 1992 , when waltondied.
