Project Sponsor Designation Process
• Capital Area MPO Executive Board is responsible for fixed guideway project sponsor designations
• Major Investment Study Consultants developed a memo recommending the City of Raleigh as BRT Project Sponsor
• On August 15th, 2018 the Capital Area MPO Executive Board voted unanimously to request the City of Raleigh to become the Project Sponsor for one or more BRT projects
• On September 4, 2018, City Council authorized the mayor to accept the City’s project sponsor designation for the Wake BRT projects

Project Sponsor Responsibilities
• Takes the primary responsibility for project implementation • Coordinates and makes project-level decisions with other impacted
jurisdictions, for example: o Station design and station area plans o Technology decisionso Street (ROW) use assignments
• Bike and pedestrian facilities• Sidewalk widths• BRT runningways• Parking • Curbspace use
• Complies with the Wake Transit Plan policies and processes

interviews and developed final recommendation.
