Classroom Requirements

Part 1 - Minimum Hardware Requirements

● 1000 Mhz Pentium III

● 1 GB RAM

● 10 GB free on the C drive

● Network connectivity to the internet

Part 2 - Minimum Software Requirements

● Microsoft Windows 2000 SP4 or Windows XP (SP1 or SP2)

● Adobe Acrobat Reader 6.0

● Winzip 8

● Internet Explorer 6.0

● Mozilla Firefox 1.5 (or higher)

● Rational Application Developer V7.0 *

● Rational Clear Case LT v7.0.1

* - indicates software provided as part of the courseware.



Part 3 - Software Provided

You will receive two USB memory sticks containing the following files:

● WA1698_1.ZIP

● WA1698_2.ZIP

All other software listed under Minimum Software Requirements is either commercially licensed software that you must provide or software that is freely available off the Internet.



Part 4 - Important Ghosting or Imaging Information

Some of the software installed for this course will not function after changing the computer hostname. As such, cloning or imaging should not be used on a fully installed system.

You can save time by extracting the contents of the USB memory stick to C:\ on a clean OS install (no other software installed) and then imaging that hard drive. After restoring the image to the other computers and changing the hostnames, you can then install the software on each computer individually by following the instructions that are detailed later in this document.



Software Installation

Part 1 - Preparation

__1. From the first USB memory stick, extract the WA1698_1.ZIP file to C:\

__2. From the second USB memory stick, extract the WA1698_2.ZIP file to C:\

__3. Review that the following folders were created:

■ C:\LabFiles

■ C:\Software\RAD7

■ C:\Software\ClearCase



Part 2 - Installing Rational Application Developer v7.0 (RAD7)

__1. From C:\Software\RAD7\disk1 run launchpad.exe file to start the installation.

__2. The IBM Software Development Platform window will appear. Click the Install IBM® Rational® Application Developer V7.0 link.



__3. The Welcome to InstallShield Wizard for IBM Installation Manager appears. Click Next.



__4. Accept the terms in the license agreement. Click Next.



__5. Leave the default as destination folder. Click Next.



__6. Click the Install button to start the installation Manager.



__7. When the InstallShield Wizard has done press Finish.



__8. The Install Packages window will appears. Select IBM Rational Application Developer if it is not checked. Click Next.



__9. Accept the terms in the license agreements and Click Next.



__10. Leave the default directory for Shared Resources Directory and click Next.



__11. Change the installation Directory for IBM Software Development Platform to C:\RAD7. If you leave the default directory can cause errors in the Labs because the path is too long. Click Next.



__12. Leave unchecked the check box for extend an existing Eclipse and Click Next.

__13. In the Languages screen just click Next.



__14. Check Struts Tools inside Web Development Tools.

__15. Uncheck Crystal Reports tools inside Web Development Tools.

__16. Click Next.



__17. At the summary page review the information and click Install.

__18. Wait patiently while the program is installed.



__19. When you receive the Success message select None in the right panel and click Finish.

__20. Now Start RAD 7, to do this select Start -> Programs -> IBM Software Development Platform -> IBM Rational Application Developer -> IBM Rational Application Developer.

__21. In the workspace window change to C:\workspace and click OK.



__22. Close the Welcome screen.

__23. Click the Servers tab at the bottom panel and wait to see the WebSphere Application Server v6.1 there.

__24. To start the Server right click in the WebSphere Application Server v6.1 server and select Start.

__25. The Console view will show some messages meanwhile the Server is started. You will see the message Application started.



__26. At the Servers view the status changed to Started for the WebSphere Application Server v6.1.

__27. To stop the server right click on the server and select Stop. The server will change the status to Stopped.

__28. From the menu select File -> Exit to close Rational Application Developer.

__29. Close all.

Congratulations, you installed successfully RAD7.0



Part 3 - Installing Rational ClearCase LT 7.0.1

__1. From C:\Software\ClearCase, launch setup.exe

The IBM Rational ClearCase LT LaunchPad screen will appear.

__2. Click Install IBM Rational Clearcase LT.



__3. A dialog may appear, stating that the version of the Installshield is not sufficient. Simply click Yes.

The IBM Rational Setup Wizard will begin.

__4. At the Welcome screen click Next.



__5. On the Deployment Method screen, select Desktop installation from CD image.

__6. Click Next.



__7. On the Client/Server screen, select Install server and client software.

__8. Click Next.



The Welcome to the Setup Wizard for IBM Rational ClearCase LT window will appear.

__9. Click Next.



The Product Warnings screen will appear.

__10. Click Next.



Another window will appear, showing the Software License Agreement. (This window may will be behind your ClearCase setup window, select this window.)

__11. Click Accept.



The Destination Folder screen will appear.

__12. Accept the default (C:\Program Files\Rational) and click Next.



The Custom Setup screen will appear.

__13. Click the button next to ClearCase Web Interface and select This feature will not be available.



__14. An X should appear next to it.

__15. Click Next.



The Configure screen will appear maybe behind the previous window.

__16. Click Done.



The Ready to Install the Program screen will appear.

__17. Click Install.

The installation will begin.

Wait a few minutes.



Eventually, the Setup Complete screen will appear.

__18. Uncheck both checkboxes and click Finish.

__19. You will be prompted to restart the system. Click Yes. A restart is required.

__20. Be sure that your the computer is restarted.

Rational Clear Case LT v7.0.1 is installed.



Congratulations. The installation of WA1698 RAD 7 Essentials for WebSphere 6.1 has been completed.
