The surviving association was named Walter L. Cohen Alumni Association (WLCAA). To ensure the continued existence and viability of Cohen, the WLCAA entered into a partnership with New Orleans College Prep (NOCP) Charter Group to manage and operate the school under the name of Walter L. Since its inception, the Association has operated and flourished under the leadership of four Presidents: Bonnie Raby Wallace, Class of 1955 (1995 - 1995) Maureen Wilde, Class of 1959 (1995 - 2001) Louis Washington, Class of 1954 (2001 - 2009) James Raby, Class of 1955 (2009 - Present) Since the WLCAA was founded, its membership has continued to grow. As a result, WLCAA has supported and assisted the school as cited: *Financed a trip to Beijing, China for 12 students and 2 teachers, *Awarded college scholarships to students, *Purchased band and athletic equipment, *Paid travel expenses for students to attend inter- scholastic competitions, *Paid senior fees for needy and homeless students, *Adopted and presently provides support and assistance to Sam Butler (a Cohen student paralyzed from a tragic shooting accident) and his family. Our greatest achievement and contribution to the future of Cohen and its students was WLCAAs efforts to prevent the Recovery School District (RSD) from forming a mega high school by not to merge Cohen and Booker T. Washington. The RSD also agreed to construct a NEW SCHOOL building on the Cohen’s present site. Cohen we hail thy name today!

In glory and praise and song. We'll try to build thy fame, dear school,

As we go marching on and on.

We love thy colors, yes we do, Of Kelly Green and White.

With praise may they unfurl to thee, To stand always for truth and right.

Cohen we hail thy name today!

In glory and praise and song. We’ll love thy halls and walls, dear school,

Yes, whether near to us or far.

We’ll love the colors, yes we will, They’re ever in our sight.

With praise they will unfurl for thee And always stand for truth and right.
