    FOR HOUSEHOLD USE ONLY.When using the carpetwasher, basic safety precautions shouldalways be observed, including the following:

    1. Do not leave the carpet washer unattended whenplugged in. Unplug it from socket when not in use.

    2. To prevent electric shock do not use outdoors.

    3. Not to be used as a toy. Children should be supervised toensure that they do not playwith the appliance.

    4. This appliance is not intended for use by persons (includingchildren)with reduced physical, sensory ormentalcapabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge,unless they have been given supervision or instructionconcerning the use of the appliance by a personresponsible for their safety.

    5. Use only as described in this manual.

    6. Do not use the carpet washer if it has beendropped, damaged, left outdoors or dropped intowater. Do not use the carpet washer with adamaged cord or plug. If the supply cord is damaged, itmust be replaced by the manufacturer or arecommended Service Agent to avoid hazard andinvalidating the guarantee.

    7. Do not pull or carry by cord/hose. Do not use thecord/hose as a handle, close a door on the cord/hoseor pull cord/hose around sharp edges or corners. Donot run the carpet washer over the cord/hose. Keepthe cord away from heated surfaces.

    8. Do not unplug by pulling on the cord.

    9. Do not handle the plug or carpet washer with wethands.

    10. Do not put any objects into openings or operate withopenings blocked, keep them free of anything thatmay reduce airflow.

    11. Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers and all parts of thebody away from openings and moving parts.

    12. Do not use the carpet washer on any glowing,burning or smoking particles.

    13. Do not use without the solution tank and dirty watertank in place.

    14. Turn off all controls before unplugging.

    15. Do not use to pick up flammable or combustibleliquids such as petrol, or use in areas where they maybe present.

    16. Keep the unit on the floor.

    17. Do not use an extension cord.

    18. Do not attempt to remove blockages with sharpobjects as they may cause damage.

    19. Store indoors put away after use to prevent trippingaccidents.

    20. Using improper voltage may result in damage to themotor and possible injury to the user. The correctvoltage is listed on the rating label.

    21. A hazard may occur if the carpet washer runs overthe power supply cord.

    22. To prevent dirty water from running into the motor, donot hold the appliance upside-down or lay on its side.Use appliance in normal cleaning position.

    23. Use extra care when cleaning on stairs.

    24. Do not carry appliance while motor is running.

    WARNING: Always switch off and unplug yourmachine from the electrical outlet before filling and

    emptying the clean water tank, emptying the dirty water tank,before assembling, opening, before connecting/disconnecting the attachments, or carrying out maintenanceor troubleshooting checks.

    NOTE: Carpets should be dry vacuumed thoroughlybefore washing.

    IMPORTANT: If the hose or tools are blocked, switchoff the carpet washer and remove the blockage(s)

    before re-starting your machine. See maintenance.

    IMPORTANT: Cleaning filters maintains cleaningperformance. Vax recommends that your filters

    should be checked and cleaned periodically. If your filters arewashable make sure they are completely dry beforeinserting back into the machine.

    This machine is intended for household use only, andNOT for commercial or industrial use.

    Locate locking pin andpress in points shownto remove.

    Insert handle and re-fitlocking pin.

    Locking pin will clickwhen in place.

    Wrap solution tubearound holder forstorage.

    Assembling your tool caddy and hose

    Fit hose connectorend in first.

    Wrap hose aroundcaddy tightlyanti-clockwise.Clip in the last wrap ofthe hose and washtool as shown.

    Ensure lockingtabs arehorizontal.

    Attach caddy to unittop first.

    Rotate tabs 90clockwise to lockcaddy onto unit.

    NOTE: Do not over saturate your carpet.

    Vacuum your carpets thoroughly.

    Test for colourfastness - Wet a white absorbent cloth with the solution. In a small, hiddenarea of your carpet, gently rub the surface with the dampened cloth. Wait ten minutes andcheck for colour removal or bleed with white paper towel or cloth. If your carpet has morethan one colour, check all colours.

    When cleaning an entire room, move furniture out of the area to be cleaned. If the furniture istoo heavy to move, place aluminium foil or wax paper under legs. This will prevent woodfinishes from staining your carpet. Pin up furniture skirts and curtains.

    Before you begin cleaning

    IMPORTANT: Only use Vax carpet cleaning solution. Using other solutions may causeexcess foaming. Excessive foamwill prevent the machine from working effectively. Using

    other solutions will invalidate the guarantee.

    Fill clean water tankwith solution mix.

    Pour required dose ofpre-treatment solution(approx. 40ml per 1Lof water).

    Mix solution with warmwater. (max 40 C)

    Remove clean watertank.

    Unwrap power cord and plug unit in.

    Operating your pre-treatment wand (somemodels only )NOTE: Pre-treating your carpet before washing will help to remove stubborn stains.NOTE: Do not over saturate your carpet.

    NOTE: Leave pre-treatment solution to work for 10-15 minutes then wash carpets asdescribed on page 6 of Operation.

    IMPORTANT: Before setting the machine up to wash, ensure the clean water tank isrinsed thoroughly of pre-treatment solution.

    Spray evenly ontodesired areas.

    Operating your carpet washer

    NOTE: Your dirty water tank is fitted with a float. When the dirty water tank is full or the floor headis not in contact with the carpet the float will shut off the suction at the floor nozzle. You will be ableto hear if this has happened as the motor noise on the unit will increase. Once the float isactivated, empty the dirty water tank if full. If the dirty water tank is not full then turn off yourmachine at the power switch and wait for the float to settle before re-starting.

    Pull wash tool back overspill to pick up liquid.

    Using the wash tool

    Picking up spills

    Remove hose.

    For best results applysolution on the forwardstroke and release thetrigger to recover on thebackward stroke.

    NOTE: Do not over saturate your upholstery.NOTE: The clean water tank will need to be filled with solution and water before use.

    Press trigger to releasesolution.

    Protecting your carpets

    NOTE: Using Vax Carpet Guard solution will protect your carpets from future stains.

    NOTE: Do not over saturate your carpets.

    Hold the Vax Guard solution approximately 1 metre away from the desired area and spray evenly. Leave to dry for 30 minutes.

    Storage Empty and rinse out clean and dirty water tanks and leave to air dry before replacing. You can remove the handle and tool caddy for convenient storage.

    Use a crossheadscrewdriver to removetwo (2) screws.

    Is there an accessory missing?

    Check the Parts Overview page in this guide tomake sure the part is definitely included in yourunit.

    Why wont the carpet washer turn on?

    It may not be plugged into the electrical outletcorrectly: ensure that the plug is pushed insecurely and switched on.

    The power button on the unit hasnt been fullydepressed.

    If unit cuts out during use, disconnect the unit fromthewall socket, allow to cool for one hour, clean thefilter and empty the dirty water tank and checkhose, brushbar for blockages.

    Why wont the cleaner pick up solution/spills?

    The float in the dirty water tankmay have beenactivated. Empty the dirty water tank if full. If thedirty water tank is not full then switch themachineoff and wait for the float to settle before re-startingyour machine.

    The dirty water tankmay be full and the auto shutoff engaged. Empty the dirty water tank.

    Ensure the dirty water tank is fitted correctly and thetank cap is securely fitted.

    Check the hose for blockages.

    Check the brushbar for blockages.

    Why wont the solution/clean water dispense?

    Ensure the clean water tank is fitted securely.

    The solution/cleanwater tankmay be empty.

    Ensure dirty water tank is fitted securely.

    Why wont the brushes rotate?

    The brushes will only rotate when the unit isreclined and turned on.

    Check the float chamber filter and clean ifnecessary.

    Belt may be broken - replace if necessary.
