LCCI International Qualifications
Operations Guide for Centres 2010/2011
w w w . l c c i . o r g . u k
www.lcci.org.uk
I am delighted to be able to introduce this year’s LCCI International Qualifications Operations Guide as it sets out a number of important improvements to both the range and administration of our international qualifications.
I am particularly pleased that we are introducing a number of new examinations and modernising existing ones, to strengthen our range of book-keeping, business administration and English language qualifications. We have also simplified the structure and coverage of our Diplomas so that they are easier to understand and give learners the opportunity to qualify over a longer period of time. A list of the new qualifications is on page 2 and the new Diploma structure is set out on pages 17 to 21.
We are also keen to make our qualifications more accessible and this will be achieved in the following ways:
n The 23 qualifications which attract the largest number of entries will, in future, be available through all three world series sittings in April, June and November of each year, as well as through On Demand sittings (see our new timetable on pages 7 to 10)
n All other LCCI examinations will be available through On Demand sittings
These new arrangements will ensure even greater consistency in our worldwide standards, simplify administration arrangements and free up resources to focus on further developments. These changes also reflect increasing demand from our markets for the flexibility On Demand sittings offer: to fit in with the timing of teaching programmes, allow for re-takes or to enable students to build up the component requirements to qualify for a Diploma.
These are important developments in the range, content and quality of our qualifications which tutorial staff will want to study carefully. Our local agents and representatives will be ready to answer any questions you may have or, alternatively, you can contact us direct with any questions through the Ask the Experts email link at www.lcci.org.uk. The operational implications of these new arrangements are limited but should help make examinations administration more straightforward.
I also wanted to take this opportunity to remind you of the extensive background information and materials to support tutors and students that are now available through the LCCI website. The site received a major upgrade during April and new features are being added on a regular basis. All of this information is available free of charge.
Finally, if your students are not already using the new range of book-keeping and accounting Passport to Success books published by EDI, and the English for Business Testbuilders books published by Macmillan then do ask for more information from your local LCCI contact or contact the team here at Head Office. The books have been very well received as a positive contribution to student success rates and the full range is detailed on the qualification pages within this guide.
All these developments reflect our commitment to continually update and modernise LCCI qualifications to meet the ever changing needs of our education and training provider partners, students and employers around the world. Our development programme will continue throughout 2010/11.
I know that you value the benefits of being approved as an EDI registered centre and I am sure that you all agree that the annual centre registration fee reflects exceptionally good value for money.
I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible during the course of the year when I am out and about visiting centres and presenting LCCI certificates and medallions.
Yours sincerely.
Nigel SnookChief Executive

Regional Arrangements
In some countries registration closing dates may differ from the dates set by EDI. Regional administration by a national office or Coordinating Authority may also incur a small additional fee. Please check with your national office or Coordinating Authority where appropriate to determine regional registration deadlines and any additional fees.
Optional Speaking and Listening tests
Additional components to exams (English for Business: EfB Speaking, Listening, etc) must be explicitly stated when ordering the main component (EfB Reading and Writing). These tests are not scheduled and must be held on any date BEFORE the main component so that they can be sent to EDI together with written examination scripts. It is recommended that dates for Speaking and Listening Tests are not set more than one week before the EfB Reading and Writing examinations, allowing sufficient time for papers to arrive. Results cannot be issued until Speaking and/or Listening results have been received.
All examinations should be conducted in accordance with the Examination Guide for LCCI Centres, which is available on the LCCI website. EDI reserves the right to conduct random visits of examinations and retains the right to withhold results or suspend sessions in the event of malpractice.

All candidate entries must be submitted via email on an Excel spreadsheet and accompanied by a Series Requisition Form. The Series Requisition Form is available on the website, www.lcci.org.uk or from the Centre Support telephone +44 (0)8700 818 008 or by emailing [email protected].
Entries received late or incorrectly completed may result in their delay or possible rejection. All entries submitted to EDI will be confirmed via e-mail within 1 week of the entry closing date, if you have not received confirmation by this time please contact us immediately.
