Identify Mitotic Structures
On the next few slides are onion root tip cells from the meristematic region, just as the previous slides have been.
These cells are stained so that the cell walls are blue and the chromosome material is red.
You will be asked to identify phases of mitosis and structures in the cells.

Mitosis in Animal/Human Cells
While mitosis in animal and human cells is quite similar to plant cell mitosis there are several differences.
Cytokinesis in very different between animal/human cells and plant cells.
The following are animal stem cells, which are noted for their rapid cell division, growing in a culture and stained to see the nucleus.

Mitosis Mistake

On the next slide are several cells in interphase/prophase and one cell in mitosis. It, however, is in a pre-cancerous condition because of mistake(s) that is/are being made during the mitosis.
