COMMUNITY NEWS

Advent is the season of expectation. Let us expect good things in the world. Let us expect to share love with one another. Let us expect kindness and goodness to win. And when we are faced with things we don’t expect, the lack of justice or of mercy, let us resist and disrupt together.

Today is the first Sunday of December. We will celebrate communion, receive a special offering for the hungry, and gather food for Samaritan Ministries. Any loose cash and checks designated “Hunger Fund” will go to a local organization fighting hunger.

College and career young adults join us today following worship for pancakes in the Lower Auditorium.

Join us for Wednesday night supper at 5:30 on this Wednesday. Our supper will be soup and salad. This will be the final Wednesday night supper for 2016.

We’ll worship together in Davis Chapel on Christmas Eve at 5:00 pm, Sunday, December 25, at 11:00 am, and January 1 (New Year’s Day) at 11:00 am. There will be no Sunday school or reception on December 25 or January 1.

Today’s Advent Call to Worship was written by Reverend Martha Spong, and used by permission. Largeprinthymnalsareavailable.Talkwithanusherifyou need assistance. Music and lyrics are reprinted with permission ofOneLicense#A-719218.
