Bishop Noonan reflects on God’s loveat the heart of the Christmas message
My Sisters and Brothers in Christ:
Put on love. Name your favorite piece of clothing, your most comfortable outfit; the one in which you feel best. Put on love. This is how God’s love comes to us and should be within us, more comfortable than our most comfortable clothes. God’s love is the essence of our being for we are created by God for God.God’s love is at the heart of the Christmas message. God the Father has such a desire to be ours that he offers His only Son, Jesus, to walk among us. While the birth of Jesus took place almost 2000 years ago, he remains with us through the gift of the Holy Spirit within the Sacraments. The Eucharist is the most treasured gift for we receive His Real Presence as we are spiritually nourished. Through the Sacraments, the indwelling of the Holy Trinity becomes our being as we are as Christ to one another.Mary, our Blessed Mother, conceived, brought forth and nourished Christ. She presented Him to the Father in the temple, and was united with Him by compassion as He died on the Cross. Mary is the star of hope for us. She has gone before us in the journey of life, yet she walks the path of hope leading us toward her beloved Son, Our Lord.Pope Francis said, “Mary is the mother of hope, in the midst of that community of such fragile disciples: one had denied, many had fled, all had been afraid. She simply stood by, in the most natural of ways, as if it were something completely normal: in the first Church enveloped in the light of the Resurrection, but also in the trepidation of the first steps that had to be taken in the world.”Mary invites us to take our first steps in the beauty of Christmas joy, the birth of a child! and to put on the love of Her Son, clothe ourselves in the richness of this treasure and join her in the unity of the Holy Family, with Joseph, her spouse, and with all the people, near and afar, those who have gone before us and those who are yet to come; the Holy Family of the faithful of God. We commit to putting on God’s love as we partake in the Sacrament of Baptism. The Eucharist continues to flourish this bond of perfection all the days of our life.Put on love. It is not as easy as putting on your most comfortable clothing. Like Mary and Joseph’s journey to be registered, the first steps call us to the virtue of waiting, even when everything seems to lack meaning. Putting on God’s love means hearing God’s whisper in the most difficult moments. It is a journey from the head to the heart, one in which we yearn to be cradled by God’s arms that we might hold others within the sweetness of His light. These steps must be taken toward God’s people, to draw them in, as Mary and Joseph, strangers and aliens, hoped they would be drawn in by the innkeeper. They are made with haste, not to rush, but because of the importance of the message to be delivered, that God’s Peace reign upon all the people.
Be thankful. Believe in God. Put on love.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Most Reverend John Noonan,Bishop of Orlando

BaptistryThe Baptismal Font is a perfect square as we are made perfect in Baptism. The five crosses in the font represent the five wounds of Christ. Remembering our Baptism helps us wash away our own woundedness.
Narthex CrossesUpon entering the Church and surrounding the Baptismal Font, the four crossesrepresent the Four Marks of the Church: One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic.
Star of BethlehemThe Star is located on the East side of the Church building. The Magi came from the East… when they found the star they had arrived… they found Christ. We find Christ here too.
Marble Colors Blue - Blessed Mother, Red - Blood of Christ and Gold - Body of Christ. The main field color of the floor represents the Earth and the darker accent color represents our call to Humility.
Star of David - PewsThese stars reminds us of Jesus’ heritage in the Hebrew Faith. He would have sat in the pews at the synagogue.

Fleur de Lis CrossThe Fleur-De-Lis is a figure of the lily which represents purity, and in turn, the Virgin Mary. It is composed of three petals and three sepals which symbolize the Holy Trinity. It is also the attribute of the archangel Gabriel, notably in representations of the Annunciation.
Large CrossThis is our Amen when we receive Communion and when we celebrate the Sacraments of Confirmation and First Eucharist. This is the place where the bride and groom join hands at their wedding and also the final Amen at funerals where the casket is placed.
Three Crosses - Main AisleRepresenting the Trinity as we bless ourselves in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Gospel Reflections December 31, 2017 The Holy Family "When they had fulfilled all the prescriptions of the law of the Lord, they returned ... to their own town of Nazareth." Mary and Joseph were faithful Jews who followed the norms of their religion. Today's Gospel describes the event we call "The Presentation." Jesus' parents, like every Jewish family, presented their infant son to the Lord in a formal ceremony at the temple in Jerusalem. Having done what their religious rites required (and having heard the prophetic words of Simeon and Anna), Mary and Joseph returned home. It was back in their native region of Galilee, amidst the daily routine of domestic life, that Jesus "grew and became strong, filled with wisdom."
As Christians, we too consecrate our children to the Lord when we have them baptized in the Church. Seeing our children receive this sacrament of initiation is always a moment of great joy and hope as we anticipate the life that lies ahead for them, both on earth and in eternity. But the baptism of a baby is only the beginning of this journey towards heaven. In truth, the little daily details, the simple living of family life in our own home paves the way for our children to reach their eternal home. And so it was with the Holy Family. Jesus' childhood, his formation and development took place not primarily amidst the public drama of the temple, but in the quiet privacy of his home. How important this home was, where his parents raised him in their faith and helped him live in such a way that "the favor of God was upon him." May we too, in our homes and our families, remember that although our mission may be lived out in very small moments, taken together they have an eternal significance.
