    WestCommercialStreetPurposeandNeedSummary

The purpose of the West Commercial Multi-Modal Corridor is to recommend a configuration for the corridor that safely accommodates all modes of transportation and accommodates current land uses and future development projects. Changes proposed along the corridor will create an enhanced gateway to Portlands waterfront.

Goals: Balance truck access and staging with ped/bike safety and mobility Serve divergent land uses and the widest number of roadway users Create an attractive gateway to Portlands waterfront.Needs: Reduce high vehicle speeds Create better defined areas for truck parking and staging Extend the shared-use path network and provide on-road bike

accommodations Enhanced pedestrian accessibility along and across the street

The primary purpose of the Martins Point Path Study is to recommend short and long-term options for improved non-motorized connections between the Back Cove & East End paths with the Martins Pt. Bridge and points north. Ultimately, the improved links will serve the transportation and recreation needs of the East Deering neighborhood and of people throughout the City.

Goals: Enhance the East Coast Greenway route through Portland to points north Increase pedestrian and bicycle capacity for the route between Tukeys

Bridge and the Martins Point Bridge

Needs: In short-term, enhance bicycle connectivity along the Veranda St. corridor Improve pedestrian crossings at various intersections along the Veranda

Street corridor Increase capacity on the Tukeys Bridge congested pathway Increase safety by reducing vehicle speeds along Route 1
