Four Seasons Window Instructions For each window you will need:

3 pieces 5” x 3” for the sky applique. ½ yd or 3 fat quarters for nine 9” x 9” pieces (We used shades of green for the spring, summer and fall window season. We used white for the winter season.) ½ yd wood print fabric for the window frame (1 3/8 yd for all four frames) Cut away stabilizer 14” x 14” low loft batting Iron-on adhesive Chalk wheel 12” dowel Four ¾”plastic rings

Note:The seam allowance will vary. Cover the embroidery when pressing

Instructions: 1. Mark the center on the 9” x 9” pieces of fabric.

2. Hoop the 9” x 9” piece(s) of fabric. Embroider the design(s). Square #1, #2 and #3 will have sky applique.

3. Remove from hoop. Trim the cut away stabilizer close to the outside stitch line.

4. Trim the fabric ½” from the outside stitch lines.

5. Lay out the sew outs in order.

6. Pin square #1 to square #2, front sides together, make sure the outside stitch lines match. Stitch 3/8” seam. Stitch square #2 to square #3. Stitch squares #4 - #6 and squares #7 - #9. Press the seams open.

7. Stitch row #1 to row #2, and row #2 to row #3. Press seams open.

8. Cut window fabric: four 1” x 11” for binding, two 11½” x 2¾” for sides of window frame, two 13¾” x 2¾” for top and bottom of window frame and 14” x 14” for the back. Cut four ¼” x 11” iron-on adhesive.

9. Form binding. Adhere the iron-on adhesive to the back of the binding. Adhere two pieces of binding horizontally to the front of the quilt, over the stitch lines. Edge stitch both sides of the binding. Adhere two pieces of binding vertically to the front of the quilt, over the stitch lines. Edge stitch both sides of the binding.

10. Stitch the two 11½” x 2¾” pieces of fabric to the top and the bottom of the embroidered piece with a 5/8” seam. Stitch the two 13¾” x 2¾” pieces of fabric to the sides of the embroidered piece with a 5/8” seam.

11. Lay the quilt side up, the back piece front side down then the low loft batting. Stitch ¼“ from outside edge leaving an opening to turn right side out. Hand stitch the opening closed. Press. Edge stitch around the inside edge of the frame.

12. Hand stitch the four plastic rings on the top stitch line in the back. Run the dowel through the rings.
