Audition Requirements for VYT’s 2021 Season
PeeWee Production - PreK through Kindergarten (Must be 5 by May 1, 2021)
* This production does not require auditions for this age group. * Parent meeting on April 16th via Zoom * First rehearsal is on Saturday, May 1st from 8:45am - 9:20am
Rehearsals will be only Saturday mornings 8:45am - 9:20am Tech Week is July 12th - 15th Performance Dates are July 16th-18th
Primary Production - Honk Jr. 1st - 4th Grade
Parent meeting on April 16th via ZoomFirst rehearsal is on April 17th from 9:30am - Noon Rehearsals will be only Saturday mornings 9:30am - Noon from April 17 - May 29. After that on Mondays & Thursdays 6:30pm - 8:30pm & Saturdays from 9:30am - Noon from May 31 - July 10th.
Tech Week is July 12th - 15th Performance Dates are July 16th-18th
Please arrive at Northmont High School (4916 National Rd, Clayton, OH) 10 minutes prior to your scheduled time. Use Door 2 for the entrance.
Prepare a 30 second to 1 minute song (ex. Disney songs, Songs from musicals, or choir songs). Music will have to be played from a phone or another bluetooth device. Also be prepared to read lines from the script and dance, if called to do so. Masks are required for the duration of the audition. Please only have one adult with the auditioner so we can maintain minimal contact with others. Check the VYT webpage (www.vandaliayouththeatre.net) for any updates and/or forms.

Tuition is $200 per cast member. For families with more than one cast member, a $25 discount will be given for each additional child. Tuition is due at the first rehearsal on April 17th. Junior Production - Madagascar Jr. 5th - 8th Grade
Parent meeting on April 30th via ZoomFirst rehearsal is on May 1st from 9am - Noon Rehearsals will be on Tuesdays & Thursdays 6pm - 8pm & Saturdays from 9am - Noon. Tech Week is July 12th - 15th Performance Dates are July 16th-18th ***This cast will be double cast to help make this year safer for your children***
Please arrive at Northmont High School (4916 National Rd, Clayton) 15 minutes prior to your scheduled time. Prepare an age appropriate 1 minute monologue or tell a story - we want to see your personality! Prepare a 1 minute Broadway song or Commercial song. Please bring music on CD, on a phone with bluetooth, or sheet music. No A cappella or librettos. There is a dance audition so come dressed to move. Be prepared to read lines from the script, if called to do so. Check the VYT webpage (www.vandaliayouththeatre.net) for any updates and/or forms.

We will be using Charms again as our data management system. Once auditions are complete, expect an email containing information about Charms (charmsoffice.com). This system will be used to store cast member and family information, distribute cast emails, host an up-to-date calendar, and deliver last-minute notices via phone calls and text.
Senior Production - The Drowsy Chaperone 9th - 12th Grade
Parent meeting on April 30th via Zoom
First rehearsal is on May 1st from 9am - Noon Rehearsals will be on Tuesdays & Thursdays 6pm - 9pm & Saturdays from 9am - Noon. Tech Week is July 19th - 22nd Performance Dates are July 23rd-25th ***This cast will be double cast to help make this year safer for your children***
Auditions will be done digitally through Flipgrid. Prepare a 1 minute comedic monologue and 32 bars (60-90 secs) of an upbeat Broadway type song, it can even be from the show! The song portion must be done to a performance track. In-person callbacks will be held on April 17th at Northmont High School for all auditioners. Due to social distancing restrictions, there will be two full casts - each performing in two shows. ALL cast members may be asked to fill ensemble parts at times. Gender flipping is a possibility with some roles.

Performances will be July 23-25, 2021. Mandatory rehearsal dates are July 17th, 19-22nd, 2021.
