INDIVIDUAL REPORT ON COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT STUDENT C (AQILAH)

During my first school-based experience, I have conducted a research about

how far the school had succeeded in developing the potentials of the physical,

cognitive, moral, and social emotion. I have chosen one student and conducted the

research on her based on the aspect of cognitive using Lev Vygotsky’s theory.

The student that I have been observing during the SBE is the age of 10. The

instruments that I used were checklist and interview.

First, there were open discussions in class conducted by the teachers. The

teacher also encouraged the student to interact with other students in class as well

as outside the class. These are the efforts done by the teachers to make the

students learn new things and exchange ideas to learn about their world.

Next, the teachers used the material tools and psychological tools to help the

student to understand the lesson better. These tools have helped the student to

communicate, solve problems, and create new knowledge. In addition, the teacher

applies the assisted learning in class then the teacher facilitates the student in

learning. The student was capable to respond give feedback and answer questions.

Apart from that, there were also collaborations between the teacher and

student as well as among the students themselves. Teacher also gives some clues

or reminder to the student to guide the student in applying the knowledge in their

daily life. The teacher also increases the level of difficulty of the exercises depends

on the student’s ability.
