THE POSITION

Vice President, Shaw Regional Cancer Center

Reporting to the CEO the VP, Shaw Regional Medical Center develops and implements the annual business plan for the Shaw Regional Cancer Center (SRCC), understanding the overall business processes and operations as well as knowledge of cost control principles and practices. Annual and long-term operational and financial goals, knowledge of cancer center accreditation and certification requirements and standards plus regulatory requirements regarding clinical licensure is key for this role.

Develops and implements the vision and strategic direction of the SRCC to serve the members and enhance the community by building business success.

Works closely with senior leadership and the VVMC Board to provide strategic leadership and management for the SRCC.

Focuses and directs staff on priorities of the SRCC including achieving growth and organizational targets; revenue generation; fundraising; and ensuring overall fiscal health of the SRCC.

Collaborates with a wide-range of diverse constituencies across the Vail Valley and Rocky Mountain regions in the public and private sectors to build coalitions to achieve the SRCC’s overall mission and priorities.

Uses administrative expertise to assist physicians with integrating clinical services.

Ensures SRCC has an effective physician referral program and other marketing outreach.

Responsible for integration of clinical operations to enhance practice productivity, increase efficiency and improve patient satisfaction.

Manages vision and purpose of the SRCC while inspiring staff through assessing and utilizing each person’s strengths.

Creates collaborative relationships, internally and externally, resulting in partnerships involving integrity and trust.

Maneuvers through complex political situations effectively and sensitivity. Perform other duties as assigned. Must be HIPAA compliant.

Successful candidates will possess demonstrated leadership knowledge and track record in the following areas:

• Expert knowledge of outpatient oncology business functions, such as financial management, budgeting, provider billing, insurance verification, referral receipt, scheduling, information systems, patient flow & patient satisfaction.

• Knowledge of hospital, comprehensive cancer program to include both radiation & medical oncology, and clinical professional accreditation and certification requirements & standards, and regulatory requirements.

• Demonstrated ability to lead teams, delegate, and communicate effectively. Must work well under pressure & promote a collaborative working environment with staff.

• Is dedicated to establishing and maintaining effective relationships with the goal of gaining their trust and respect for a collaborative working relationship through strong interpersonal skills.

• Demonstrated track record of success in continuous quality improvement. Expertise with quality/process data metrics and benchmarking is highly desired.

The incumbent must have the ability to influence effectively within our organization in a collaborative model, with strong relationship building skills. The right candidate for this position must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Health Administration, Nursing or Radiologic Sciences degree. A minimum of ten years of comprehensive oncology leadership experience is required within a hospital based cancer program. Clinical Background with a MHA/MBA is preferred.
