From the Secretary's desk
Albert Einstein has famously said “It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge”.
It is the sacred duty of the teachers to facilitate this awakening through encouragement.
“Nine Tenth of Education is encouragement” goes a popular saying. Encouragement can really do wonders. It can ignite a fire
within students to achieve their potential in life, and to even go beyond. The modern concept of Education is “Education is not
the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire”. Constant discouragement and rebuke can extinguish this fire.
Mahatma Gandhi says “Power is of two kinds. One is obtained by the fear of punishment and other by acts of love. Power based on love is a thousand times more effective and permanent than the one derived from fear of punishment.” Forgive and Forget should be motto of all teachers for small misdemeanours if the student realises his mistake.
To sum up, “The best teachers teach from the heart, not from the book” and “It takes a big heart to help shape little minds”
I congratulate the Faculty, Staff, Students and all well-wishers for record breaking school results in CBSE AISS Examination
and CBSE AISSC Examination.
Vidya Vihar strongly believes that students will be better served by a broader vision of education, wherein teachers use
different methodologies, exercises and activities to reach all students, not just those who excel at linguistic and logical
intelligence. Students bearing other types of intelligence viz. Spatial, Bodily-kinesthetic, Musical, Interpersonal,
Intrapersonal, Naturalistic and Existential also need to be groomed

LONG VACATIONS FOR STUDENTS a) Summer Vacation b) Puja Vacation c) Winter Vacation d) Session Break for old batchesVacations are subject to adjustment according to the prevailing situation. Actual Days will be communicated later.
Apart from the declared vacations, a student may be allowed a leave of maximum 6 days in a year for personal unavoidable genuine circumstances, festivals and similar reasons subject to the satisfaction of the Director/Principal. Guardians are therefore advised to plan such personal leave for their wards well in advance, preferably right in the beginning of the session.
Guardians/parents are required to collect their wards personally on the eve of vacations. In case they are unable to come personally, they must send their representatives with proper authority letters duly signed by them. The exact duration of vacation is intimated from time to time. During long vacations boys are required to carry all their personal belongings with them so that the bed lockers/almirahs can be properly cleaned /repaired.
If a boy is detained for remedial classes or for preparation of CBSE Board Exam during vacation, the parents/guardians are liable to pay extra charges for the Boarding and Lodging.
Boys must be present on the closing day before vacation and also on the opening day of the school after vacation. Absence on these days will be considered as a serious breach of school discipline. If a boy does not report on the first day of the new term and his term fee is not received as per fee schedule, his name may be struck off the rolls. Leave application for absence on the first day of the term may be considered only when the term fee is deposited according to the fee schedule and the reason for absence is found genuine.
AGE AT THE TIME OF ADMISSIONFor admission in class IV, the candidate should have completed eight years and should not be more than nine years as on 1st April in the year of admission and likewise nine years for class V and so on.
REGISTRATION FOR ADMISSIONth
The printed application form for admission along with the prospectus can be obtained till 10 of January, every year on cash payment of Rs. 400/- from the sales centres advertised. The same can be obtained by sending an account payee Bank Draft for Rs. 500/- by registered post drawn in favour of Vidya Vihar Residential School, payable at Purnea and addressed to Principal, Vidya Vihar Residential School, At & P.O. Parora, Distt. Purnea, Pin - 854 304. (Bihar)
The application form should be signed by the person responsible for paying school fees. On receipt of duly filled in Application form, Registration Card and Admit Card along with Registration fee of Rs. 500/- by demand draft in favour of Vidya Vihar Residential School, payable at Purnea, by 15th January every year, the candidate is registered for admission test to be held in January.
ADMISSION FORM FROM WEBSITEThe form can also be downloaded from the school website and the duly filled in form should be sent to the school along with a DD of Rs. 1,000/- for registration and prospectus.

ADMISSION TEST AND SELECTIONth
A Written test will be held for admission in class IV, to VIII on Sunday, 22 January 2017 at 11:00 am at the following centres:- a) PURNEA - Vidya Vihar Residential School, Parora, Purnea b) DARBHANGA - Nargauna Palace, LNMU, Darbhanga c) PATNA - A. N. College, Boring Road, Patna
Guardians are requested to collect the admit card from the Centre Superintendent one hour before the examination. Admission test will be of two hours duration. Questions will be set from CBSE syllabus of the preceding standard for which admission is sought, comprising seven subjects - English, Hindi, Maths, Science, Social Science/Environmental Science, G.K. & Mental Ability.
The question booklet of class IV to VIII will contain questions in English. The students have to answer only in English except the Hindi language questions. Answers are to be written in the booklet itself. Questions will be of short answer type, multiple choice, fill in the blanks and short essays. Syllabus of concerned class can be obtained free of cost from the sale centres. Boys selected on the basis of written exam are required to appear in the interview and medical examination for the final selection.Admission formalities will be completed immediately after the publication of the final results. Parents must deposit the entire fee and other charges for the 1st Semester at the time of admission as mentioned in the fees table for First year of admissions. Hence, they are requested to come prepared at the time of interview.
thResults of the written test will be declared on 27 January 2017. It can be obtained from the School Office on telephone 9204068907/9431230825. The selected candidates will be informed about the interview date and other related matters by registered post immediately. The venue of the interview will be Vidya Vihar Residential School, Parora (Purnea). Final result will be announced on the following day of conclusion of interviews. Parents (Father & Mother)/ Guardians are required to be present at the time of interview. Admission will be subject to medical fitness given by the medical board set up by the school. The decision of Chairman of the Selection Committee will be final for short-listing the candidates for admission after necessary selection procedure. Classes for New Batch will
thcommence on 10 April 2017.

Birth certificate from proper authority (xerox copy). PAYMENT MODE
Payments are accepted only by bank draft at the school office. However, payment in cash will be accepted by the office from the new entrants. All payments should be made only to the Accountant against an official receipt. The Payment can be sent by Registered Post with A/D, giving details such as Name, Roll No., Class and House of the boy. The Roll No. and name of the boy should also be written on the back of the draft.
