PRINCIPLE OF HALAL AND HARAM???
Slide 4
PRINCIPLE Law or rule to be followed Law or rule that has to
be, or usually is to be followed, or can be desirably followed, or
is an inevitable consequence of something, such as the laws of
nature or the way that a device is constructed
Slide 5
DEFINITION HALAL PERMITTED LAWFUL IS AN ARABIC WORD WHICH MEANS
PERMITTED OR LAWFUL THINGS OR ACTIONS PERMITTED BY SHARIAH LAW
WITHOUT PUNISHMENT IMPOSED ON THE DOER HARAM PROHIBITED UNLAWFUL IS
AN ARABIC WORD WHICH MEANS PROHIBITED OR UNLAWFUL.HARAM ACTIVITIES
ARE FORBIDDEN TO EVERY MUSLIM. EXAMPLE: PIG/DOGS, KHMAR,
INTOXICANTS, DRUGS, BLOOD ETC.
Slide 6
THE PRINCIPLE OF HALAL & HARAM IN ISLAM 1. ALL THINGS
CREATED BY ALLAH S.W.T ARE HALAL, WITH FEW EXCEPTIONS THAT ARE
SPECIFICALLY PROHIBITED. 2. TO MAKE HALAL OR HARAM IS THE RIGHT OF
ALLAH ALONE. 3. THE BASIC REASON FOR THE PROHIBITION OF THINGS ARE
DUE TO IMPURITY AND HARMFULNESS.
Slide 7
THE PRINCIPLE OF HALAL & HARAM IN ISLAM (CONT) 4. WHAT IS
PERMITTED HALAL IS SUFFICIENT AND WHAT IS PROHIBITED HARAM IS THEN
SUPERLUOUS. 5. WHATEVER IS CONDUCIVE TO PROHIBITED HARAM IS IN
ITSELF IS PROHIBITED HARAM. 6. FALSELY REPRESENTING THE UNLAWFUL
HARAM AS LAWFUL HALAL IS PROHIBITED. 7. DOUBTFUL THINGS SHOULD BE
PROHIBITED.
Slide 8

Surah Al-M'idah (The Table Spread) - Prohibited to you are dead
animals, blood, the flesh of swine, and that which has been
dedicated to other than Allah, and [those animals] killed by
strangling or by a violent blow or by a head-long fall or by the
goring of horns, and those from which a wild animal has eaten,
except what you [are able to] slaughter [before its death], and
those which are sacrificed on stone altars, and [prohibited is]
that you seek decision through divining arrows. That is grave
disobedience. (5:3)
Slide 12
Surah Al-M'idah-hidangan makanan Diharamkan bagimu (memakan)
tanpa sengaja berbuat dosa, sesungguhnya Allah Maha Pengampun lagi
Maha Penyayang. (QS 5:3)
Slide 13
PRINCIPLE 2 HALALHARAMTHE INJUCTIONS HALAL OR HARAM IS BASED ON
THE INJUCTIONS AL-QURAN AND SUNNAH ARE STATED IN AL-QURAN AND
SUNNAH NO HUMAN BEING, NO MATTER HOW PIOUS OR POWERFUL, MAY TAKE IT
INTO HIS HANDS TO CHANGE IT IN THE MENU, HOTELS/RESTAURANTS ARE
FORBIDDEN TO MIX THE WINE WITH THE STEAK THEY PREPARE EXAMPLE: IN
THE MENU, HOTELS/RESTAURANTS ARE FORBIDDEN TO MIX THE WINE WITH THE
STEAK THEY PREPARE
Slide 14
Therefore, you shall eat from GOD's provisions everything that
is lawful and good, and be appreciative of GOD's blessings, if you
do worship Him alone. Only Four Foods Prohibited He only prohibits
for you dead animals, blood, the meat of pigs*, and food which is
dedicated to other than GOD. If one is forced (to eat these),
without being deliberate or malicious, then GOD is Forgiver, Most
Merciful. *The most devastating trichinosis parasite, Trichinella
spiralis, (also the pork tapeworm Taenia solium) survives in the
meat of pigs, not the fat. More than 150,000 people are infected
annually in the United States AL NAHL(THE BEE) 114-115
Slide 15
Sesungguhnya Allah hanya mengharamkan atasmu (memakan) bangkai,
darah, daging babi dan apa yang disembelih dengan menyebut nama
selain Allah; tetapi barangsiapa yang terpaksa memakannya dengan
tidak menganiaya dan tidak pula melampaui batas, maka sesungguhnya
Allah Maha Pengampun lagi Maha Penyayang. AL NAHL(lebah) -115
Slide 16
Principle 3 Why prohibited? Due to the impurity and harmfulness
A muslim is not supposed to question exactly why or how something
is unclean or harmful in what Allah has prohibited. There might be
obvious reasons and there might be obscure reasons.
Slide 17
But say not for any false thing that your tongues may put
forth,- this is lawful, and this is forbidden, so as to ascribe
false things to Allah. For those who ascribe false things to Allah,
will never prosper. (al-nahl : 116)
Slide 18
Rationale Of Prohibited Carrion and death animals are unfit for
human consumption because the decaying process leads to the
formation of chemicals that are harmful to humans. Blood that is
drained from an animal contains harmful bacteria, products of
metabolism, and toxins. Intoxicants are considered harmful for the
nervous system, affecting the senses and human judgments, leading
to social and family problems and in some cases even death.
Slide 19
Swine serves as a vector for pathogenic worms to enter the
human body. Infections by Trichinella Spiralis and Taenia Solium
are common.
Slide 20
Principle 4 What permitted halal is sufficient & what
prohibited haram is superfluous
Slide 21
Al Quran - Al Quran - Al-Nahl 114-115 So eat of the sustenance
which Allah has provided for you, lawful and good; and be grateful
for the favours of Allah, if it is He Whom ye serve. He has only
forbidden you dead meat, and blood, and the flesh of swine, and any
(food) over which the name of other than Allah has been invoked.
But if one is forced by necessity, without willful disobedience,
nor transgressing due limits, then Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most
Merciful.
Slide 22

Slide 24

Slide 25
Principle 5 Whatever is conducive to the prohibited (haram) is
in itself is prohibited (haram). If something is prohibited,
anything leading to it is also prohibited. Eg the Prophet Muhammad
s.a.w cursed not only the one who drinks intoxicating drinks but
also the one who produces them, the one who serves them, the one to
whom they are served and also the one to whom the price of them is
paid.
Slide 26
Principle 6 Falsely representing unlawful (haram) as lawful
(halal) is prohibited. It is unlawful to make flimsy excuses or to
consume something that is prohibited, such as drinking khamr for
supposedly medical reasons. Calling a haram things by name other
than its own or changing its form while retaining its essence is a
devious tactic. It remains sinful. Haram still haram
Slide 27
Doubtful things should be avoided Principle 7
Slide 28
Hadith Rasulullah "Halal is clear and Haram is clear; in
between these two are certain things that are suspected. Many
people may not know whether those items are Halal or Haram.
Whosoever leaves them, he is innocent towards his religion and his
conscience " (Sahih Bukhari & Sahih Muslim)
