1. Introduction This manual describes the uses for F5-VPN (Virtual Private Network). You can read Journals

and access to calculation servers on Sophia University via Internet by using VPN.

【Terms of Use】

・ Please use PC meeting system requirements. You can confirm such information

on our website (https://ccweb.cc.sophia.ac.jp/?lang=english). Click [VPN] and

refer to [Conditions of use].

・ Make sure to install anti-virus software on your PC when you connect to the

VPN. Microsoft Windows compose original security software (Windows

Defender). If you use Macintosh, you need to install anti-virus software

manually.

・ Internet connection is required.

・ Please use a browser which support SSL(https).

Don’t use public computer (e.g. Internet cafes) when you connect to the VPN.

Keep your anti-virus software up to date and use latest version.

2. Installation for Windows (Auto-install)

Internet Explorer

2.1.1. Installation

* Following procedures are necessary when you connect to the VPN for the first time.

(1) Open “https://vpn.cc.sophia.ac.jp” and input user name (faculty/student ID number)

and password (as to ICT account) and click “log-on” button.

(2) Confirmation dialog will appear. Click “Yes” button if you can agree with the statement.

You can install VPN software via web browser. （Client software was required when you use previous version of the VPN. A sort of software are no longer required on new VPN system.） We recommend using Internet Explorer when you install VPN on your computer.

(3) Installation dialog that states ”This website wants to the following add-on: ’

InstallerControl.cab’ from ’F5 Networks Inc’.” will appear on the bottom of the window.

Click upside-down triangle and click “Install this Add-on for All Users on This Computer”.

※If the dialog above doesn’t appear, please refer to “6.Install VPN to Browser Manually (IE, Firefox, Chrome)”.

(4) Confirmation dialog will appear. Click “Yes” button.

(5) When your computer establishes connection with VPN, following screen will appear. Click

“Yes” button.

2.1.2. After Installation

(1) Open “https://vpn.cc.sophia.ac.jp” and input user name (faculty/student ID number)

and password (as to ICT account) and click “log-on” button.

(2) Confirmation dialog will appear. Click “Yes” button if you can agree with the statement.

(3) When your computer establishes connection with VPN, following screen will appear. Click

“Yes” button of confirmation dialog on the screen.

(4) When VPN connection is established, “F5 icon” will appear on the taskbar.

(5) VPN connection will be kept until selecting “Disconnect” from the F5 icon. You can

virtually access websites via “Sophia campus network” during connecting VPN.

3. Installation for Mac OS X

3.1.1. Installation

(1) Open “https://vpn.cc.sophia.ac.jp” and input user name (faculty/student ID number)

and password (as to ICT account) and click “log-on” button.

(2) Confirmation dialog will appear. Click “Yes” button if you can agree with the statement.

(3) Another confirmation dialog will appear and click buttons as following.

(4) When VPN connection is established, “F5 icon” will appear on the menu bar.

3.1.2. After Installation

You can connect to the VPN with same procedure as before. Some confirmation dialogs

will be skipped automatically.

4. Installation for Android

Installation

(1) Download VPN client application form Google Play.

※The download page above is subject to change.

(2) Launch “F5 Access” and tap “CONFIGURE SERVER”.

(3) Input configuration name (optional) and set “vpn.cc.sophia.ac.jp” as server URL on the

following screen. After that, click “Next” button.

(4) Input Username (student ID or faculty ID) and tap check mark on the top-right of the

screen.

(5) Log-in screen will appear and tap “CONNECT”.

(6) When you input password and tap LOGIN button, confirmation dialog will appear. Tap

“OK” button on the dialog.

(7) When VPN connection is established, “F5 icon” will appear on the status bar.

After Installation

Launch “F5 Access” and tap “CONNECT” and input your password.

5. Installation for iOS

Installation

(1) Download client application (F5 Access) from App Store.

(2) Terms of agreement will appear when you launch F5 Access. Confirm the term and agree

with it.

(3) Tap “Add New” button on connecting screen.

(4) Fill in configurations as follows and tap “Save” button. You can set any name as

“Description”. “Username” is your faculty or student ID. “Password” is same as your ICT

account.

(5) Confirmation dialog will appear and tap “Allow” button.

(6) Use Touch ID or Passcode and add VPN configurations to iOS.

(7) Tap “Connection” button and enable VPN.

(8) Enter your password (ICT-Account) and tap “OK” button.

(9) VPN will be established and VPN icon will appear on the top of the screen.

After Installation.

Launch F5 Access App and tap “Connection” and input your password.

6. Install VPN to Browser Manually (IE, Firefox, Chrome)

If you cannot install VPN software automatically, install it manually.

Installation for Internet Explorer

(1) Open “https://vpn.cc.sophia.ac.jp” and input user name (faculty/student ID number)

and password (as to ICT account) and click “log-on” button.

(2) Confirmation dialog will appear. Click “Yes” button if you can agree with the statement.

(3) Open “https://vpn.cc.sophia.ac.jp” and click “Install the new browser component and

continue” then Click “Save as” button and save it on your computer.

(4) Click “Continue” button and “Yes” button on the confirmation dialogs below.

(5) Setup will complete within few minutes without notice.

(6) When your computer establishes connection with VPN, following screen will appear and

“F5 icon” will appear on the taskbar.

* If VPN connection was not established automatically, access “https://vpn.cc.sophia.ac.jp”

again.

Installation for Firefox

(1) Open “https://vpn.cc.sophia.ac.jp” and input user name (faculty/student ID number)

and password (as to ICT account) and click “log-on” button.

(2) Confirmation dialog will appear. Click “Yes” button if you can agree with the statement.

(3) Download dialog will appear and click “download” button on the dialog.

(4) Click “Continue” button and “Yes” button on the confirmation dialogs below.

(5) Setup will complete within few minutes without notice.

(7) VPN connection will be established and click “Yes” on the confirmation dialog below.

(8) When VPN connection is established, “F5 icon” will appear on the taskbar.
