The first method is at signon, where the user can select a checkbox directly on the signon page to enable accessible mode. The second method allows each individual user to configure the User Interface (UI) mode in which they operate, whether it be standard user mode or accessible user mode. The UI mode is set via the user preferences in PeopleTools Personalizations. To set accessible mode user preferences, the user navigates to 'My Personalizations' and then selects 'Personalize General Options.' The next step is to set the Accessibility Features Personalization Option to 'Use Accessible Layout'. There is a section in the document "Enterprise PeopleTools 8.54 PeopleBook: PeopleSoft Accessibility Guide" titled "Setting Up PeopleSoft Accessibility Features" that further explains the steps to configure accessibility mode in the application. Accessible Mode is configured in PeopleSoft products on a per user basis. With PeopleTools 8.54, there are a variety of methodswhich can be used to enable accessibility mode. 2.2.2 Pause, Stop, Hide: For moving, blinking, scrolling, or auto­updating information, all of the following are true: (Level A)

Moving, blinking, scrolling: For any moving, blinking orscrolling information that (1) starts automatically, (2) lasts morethan five seconds, and (3) is presented in parallel with othercontent, there is a mechanism for the user to pause, stop, or hideit unless the movement, blinking, or scrolling is part of an activitywhere it is essential; andAuto­updating: For any auto­updating information that (1) startsautomatically and (2) is presented in parallel with other content,there is a mechanism for the user to pause, stop, or hide it or tocontrol the frequency of the update unless the auto­updating ispart of an activity where it is essential.

Note 1: For requirements related to flickering or flashing content, refer toGuideline 2.3. Note 2: Since any content that does not meet this success criterion caninterfere with a user's ability to use the whole page, all content on theWeb page (whether it is used to meet other success criteria or not) mustmeet this success criterion. See Conformance Requirement 5: Non­Interference. Note 3: Content that is updated periodically by software or that isstreamed to the user agent is not required to preserve or presentinformation that is generated or received between the initiation of thepause and resuming presentation, as this may not be technicallypossible, and in many situations could be misleading to do so.
