President’s Message

Wow! It’s 2019 already! Got through theholidays–prettymuch,every-thing put away – kinda, and now

lookingforwardtosomegoodtimes.I’mfindingthatIambecomingmoreandmoreofa “creature of habit.” I sit in “my spot,” order chickenscampiatOliveGardenallthetime, drink my Pepsi room temp and some other quirksthataretoogoofytomention.

Now when I was little,Iwouldhidebehind my mom with a death grip on her pants so she couldn’t be two feet away from me, that was my comfort zone. When mom had to work, I would sit at my Grannie’s feet as she sat for hours cro-cheting,knittingorsewing. When I was 7, Grannie said to me, “Hey, make yourself useful!,”soshehadmesewingonbuttons, hemming skirts and pants, and winding yarn into balls – many, many balls. My projects began.

Every January I make a list of projects I would like to do for the new year, either on my own or with friends. Pinterest has been a blessing andacursetomylistof“GottaDo.”Justwhenyouthinkyou’ve“doneitall,”onelittleboardof pins can make you say, “Whaaaat! All can play part in Quilt ShowWith our theme of “Branch Out...”, we can safely use the analogy of the forest. A forest is a living and changing organism that has many needs. Some of our members are able to be large trees that can stand and reach for the sky. But some of us cannot be that big for many reasons.Someofusarelittletreesstartingout,animalsthatliveintheforest,theleavesthatfall,thecompostontheforestfloororeventhesmallestinsect.Nomatterwhatyour“forestjob” may happen to be, they are all important and vital to the success of that forest.
