Jersey Shore Beach Tags and Other Discounts
We love hearing stories from our Montco Veterans about discounts and freebies
that they have received when they show their Montgomery County Veterans’
Discount ID Card. Almost 500 regional businesses participate in our program and
offer discounts to honor our local veterans; we encourage both the public and our
veterans to support these local establishments, and we also tell our veterans to
show their card everywhere, not only to increase business’ participation in our
program, but also to receive a discount they may not have known of prior.
Recently, a few veterans have told us that some Jersey Shore beach tag
communities, including Cape May, Ocean City, and Sea Isle City offer free beach
tags for veterans. For more information and further details, check the websites of
these municipal communities. Always ask about a veteran discount.
Check out our current participating merchant list on our website and always #ShowYourCard.
Volunteers Sought for Reading of the Names at Vietnam Memorial in DC
“By saying their names, we are saying we will never forget them.”
In honor of the 35th Anniversary of the dedication of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial
in Washington, DC, the names of the 58,318 service members who were killed or
remain missing will be read at The Wall over a 65-hour period beginning November
7, 2017 and continuing through November 10, 2017. Volunteers are being sought to
participate in the Reading of the Names and can choose a time slot or specific name
they would like to read.
The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund hosts this event, which is only the sixth time in history the names have been
read at The Wall. The public’s participation helps educate both current and future generations about the Vietnam
War and its impact. Spectators are invited to attend the Reading of the Names at The Wall.

Sorg Participates in Korean War Memorial and Peace Park Groundbreaking
Montgomery County Recorder of Deeds Jeanne Sorg joined over 100 members of the community to celebrate the
groundbreaking of the Korean War Memorial and American-Korean Alliance Peace Park in Montgomery Township.
Located in Memorial Grove Park just off Kenas Road, the
memorial will honor those soldiers and residents of both
countries that were killed in the Korean War.
“This memorial honors those who died serving our country
and celebrates our nation’s friendship with South Korea,”
said Sorg. “As Recorder of Deeds it is a privilege to honor
our Montgomery County veterans every day with our
Veterans’ Discount ID Program,” she continued, “and I
hope projects like this Peace Park remind all Americans to
thank those who serve and who have served in our
military, and remember those soldiers who made the
ultimate sacrifice.”
The campaign to build the memorial was spearheaded by
Master Bong Pil Yang and others, who organized a
community fundraising effort coupled with a contribution of $250,000 from the Korean government to pay for
construction of the Peace Park Memorial, which will include benches for meditation and symbolic plantings.
