Volunteering is F-U-N

REGATTA VOLUNTEERS

These positions are to work at the

regattas at Sandy Run on Saturday

mornings.

Each position earns 5 service hours

with launch drivers earning an

additional 2 (7 total).

•Sign up to work a specific position

•Provide phone number where I can

reach you on Regatta Day

•Sign ups and job descriptions are

on the Robinson crew website under

Alternates are agreeing to work the

position listed but it’s possible you

may be needed for another position.

Alternates earn service hours only if

needed and complete the job. If you

are called please be sure to let me

know so I can award your hours.

ALTERNATES

You will receive a

reminder email from

SignUp Genius

before the regatta.

NO SHOWS are a

NO-NO!

Robinson is fined $50 and

we pass that fine along to

you.

Training is required for

Launch Drivers only

In order to do this you will need to do 2 things

before signing up.

1. A valid Virginia boating safety course card. If

you do not have one you can complete a course

online to do so such as the one found here -

http://www.boatus.org/virginia/

2. Meet with the operations team ahead of time

for hands on review of launch handling and

safety.

POINTERS

Go see Sandy Run ahead of time.

Saturday morning practices are a

good time to get acquainted with

the layout of the place.

Plan time to park, shuttle over,

sign in and get to the job site at

starting time

At least :

30 minutes for Polar Bear regatta

1 hour for all other regattas.(1 exception to this – do not show up more than 15

minutes early for the early am setup job)

Volunteers still have to

pay to park if you

choose not to take the

shuttle!

Sign in at Regatta Headquarters

That’s the white tent on right before you hit

the water!

Tent says VOLUNTEER SIGN IN

1. sign attendance sheet

2. sign insurance waiver

3. Pick up a life vest if needed

4. Report to your station

5. Have fun

Remain flexible – you may be reassigned to

another job

Review the job descriptions ahead of time as

some can be strenuous or dirty

Please turn off cell phones

DO NOT WEAR RED

Dress for all kinds of weather

(layers are very helpful)

Keep dry clothes in car or with a friend

All positions on the water must

wear a PFD (lifejacket).

You may bring your own.

Concessions people sign in

twice

once at

VOLUNTEER SIGN IN TENT

and again at

CONCESSIONS STAND.

Do not bring children or pets to your shift.

If you work during your child’s race please ask

the volunteer coordinator at your position for a

break to attend the race. You must come back to

your position immediately after the race!

NO END TIME LISTED “until done”

means until the start or end of the regatta

which is flexible. Do not leave until you are

released.
