Vitas Hospice

Job Description: Volunteers needed for respite care,

assisting family members in small amounts of time

away from the patient - to garden, take a nap, or just

sit on the porch for a little while. Provide friendly

visitor service as companion to patients and their

families. Provide clerical assistance such as filing,

preparing admissions and discharge packets for main

office.

West Deptford Library

Job Description: Tutors to assist with basic reading

and math skills. Volunteers are also needed to teach

senior citizens basic computer classes. Class size is

15 to 20 students with aides for 2 hours several times

per year.

individuals with the preparation of their tax return

in accordance with the guidelines established

between the IRS & AARP Foundation. Training

provided.

Academy of Lifelong Learning

Job Description: Assistance in the classroom,

community service, membership, newsletter,

curriculum development, outreach recruitment,

mailings and special events.

ARC of Gloucester County

Job Description: Provide support and services for

citizens with developmental disabilities living in

Gloucester County in order to help them become

independent. Assist a small group or an individual

with games, activities and other areas of interest.

Childcare assistance one Friday /month 9:30 a.m. –

11:30 a.m., while parent( s) attend educational

workshop. 21

St. John of God

Job Description: This school is for children and

young adults with mental disabilities. Volunteers are

needed to assist students with reading and math and

also help with training for restaurant and small

factory.

Surrogate Educational Program

Job Description: Volunteers assist with educational

decisions for children that are wards of the state.

Volunteers will help protect the child’s rights along

with child study teams and teachers. Training is

provided by the NJ Department of education.

VOAD - Volunteer Mobilization Center of

Job Description: Escort the public into the kennel

area for adoptions and lost pets. Assisting in the

office by checking through our “lost and found”

reports and contacting residents to see whether or

not they have located their pets and launder pet

bedding, walk dogs, and help coordinate special

events.

Boys & Girls Club of Gloucester County

Job Description: Volunteer tutors needed to help

with after school homework. Youth advocates

participate in group activities - dependable and

consistent with meeting times.

CASA-Court Appointed Special Advocate

Job Description: Advocate for children through the

court system assisting, mentoring and lending

emotional support. CASA is an independent branch

of government constitutionally fair and just

resolution of disputes.

Center for Family Services

Job Description: Assistance with youth supervision,

providing different activities for youth. Arts and

crafts, gardening, baking, games etc. Youth

interaction and supervision. The mission of Center

for Family Services is to support and empower

individuals and families through vision, hope and

strength.

Central Early Childhood Center

Job Description: Work with classroom teachers.

Work in library. Provide assistance with reading to

the children. It is a public school that serves 576

students grades PK to K1.

Cultural & Heritage Commission

Job Description: Art show hostess, fund raising,

mailer, art committee work, art check in and art

display.

Div. of Senior Services of Gloucester County

Job Description: Art Show coordinator to plan and

assist with Senior Art Show. Recruit Host/Hostess,

Samaritan Hospice

Job Description: Volunteers needed as respite

support, visit with client while family member does

yard work or takes a nap to refresh themselves.

Provide friendly visitor service as companion to

patients and their families. Also, provide clerical

Shades of Gloucester County

Job Description: Assist with snack preparation, daily

living instruction and guidance as well as reading to

SHIP (State Health Insurance Assistance

Program)

Job Description: Medicare Insurance counselors.

Training provided by the Senior Corps program and

Medicare. Program was developed to counsel

residents 65 and or disabled on Medicare on

prescription and health insurance choices. Five day

training and open book test upon completion.

Counselors must provide 5 hours of volunteer

counseling per month to remain certified.

People for People Foundation

Job Description: Volunteers needed to help callers

seeking a one time request for help by taking their

information and entering that information into a

computer database. PC skills and friendly voice

needed.

Pitman Manor

Job Description: Volunteers to assist in activities,

Rehabilitation therapy assistants, Special events

volunteers and friendly visitors to the residents and

friendly shopper.

Reassurance Callers of Gloucester County

Job Description: Make scheduled home phone calls

to senior citizens living alone. Ask if they are

remembering to eat and take medications.

Robin’s Nest, Inc.

Job Description: Mentors needed. One evening per

month attend a two hour support group. Mentors

initiate and sustain the relationship by maintaining

regular visits (at least 2 per month). All mentors

must attend training for 2 hours. No Fee.

Emmanuel Cancer Foundation

Job Description: Food Pantry - assisting stocking

shelves, packing groceries for families etc. and

making food deliveries to families. Administrative -

includes light typing, data entry, filing, answering

phones, internet research, translation services for

Spanish-speaking clients. Emmanuel Cancer

Foundation provides direct services for patients with

cancer without charge. The service program includes

in-home professional counseling, emergency

financial support and material assistance.

Family Promise of Gloucester County

Interfaith Hospitality Network

Job Description: Van drivers, dinner host, evening

host, overnight host, morning host, and activities

assistant. Family Promise mission is to provide

sleeping accommodations, food, case management,

and hospitality to homeless families.

GED/ABE Programs at RCGC

Job Description: Tutors to help residents that have

not graduated from high school in the areas of math,

reading & writing. The classes are located in the

Instructional Center on the Rowan College at

Gloucester County Campus. The General Education

Degree Director will provide training and guidance.

Glassboro Child Development Center

Job and Description: Teacher assistants to assist

preschool and school-age program and administrative

support. Assist staff with daily activities, including

engaging children in both classroom and outdoor

activities. Administrative volunteers help with

general office and clerical duties - including filing,

answering phones, photo copying and creating files.

Glassboro Schools

Job Description: Tutor students in the courses of

reading and math, and assist sharpening overall skills

to improve the children's self– esteem and a greater

enthusiasm for school and learning.

Literacy Volunteer of Gloucester County

Job Description: Tutors to work one on one in a

public setting (like a library) with area residents

who need help with basic literacy or English as

Second Language skills. Must attend Literacy

Training before tutoring.

Job Description: Skills needed none or many. You’ll

likely be working with complete novices,

enthusiastic-amateurs, semi -professionals, and

people who make their living in the trades, building

homes for Low-Income community residents. Some

of the jobs are - Retail Staff Assistant for Restore ,

Customer Service Pro, Mr./Ms. Fix-it Repair

volunteer for people who enjoy refurbishing,

Job Description: Chat line operator and/or Warm

line operator. Helping families find the resources to

remain independent and self sufficient.

Heartland Hospice

Job Description: Helping with office support tasks,

running errands for patients and families, staying

with patients so family members can get a much

needed rest, reading or providing a comforting touch,

playing or singing soothing music to patients,

keeping vigil with patients in their final hours and

more.

Holiness Worship Ctr. Inc. (Daycare facility)

Job Description: Volunteers needed to: Walk children

to and from curbside bus stop, read stories to

children, serve lunch and snacks, help preschool and

kindergartners with their school work. Participate in

arts and crafts projects, tidy up after children, etc.

Support the infant and toddlers teacher in caring for

their children, watch children play, disinfectant toys

with wipes etc. Also, assist after school students with

their homework.
