Committees & Ministry Teams
Committees
A Committee is a group whose members are nominated by the Committee on Committees and elected by the Church for a prescribed period of time to perform supervisory, administrative and budgetary oversight for a specific segment of the church’s operations.
Church membership is a requirement for service on these committees, and some committee positions may be subject to specific guidelines or qualifications. Committee members are selected annually by the Green Acres Baptist Church Committee on Committees. If you are interested in serving on a committee contact Ken Warren, Senior Associate Pastor. [email protected].

Ministry to Baby Boomer Generation While AIM works with adults of all ages, the main focus of this ministry are those adults who are in the “prime of life” - the Baby Boomer generation. This group of adults is characterized by a high degree of activity, mobility and a desire to make a difference. AIM is providing opportunities and creating awareness for these adults to get involved in ministry and missions within the church, community and the world especially as they consider retirement from their careers. You may have spent your life preparing financially for retirement but haven’t considered how you will invest in your ministry during retirement. AIM can help you plan for this very

important part of your retirement. If you are looking for the right place to use your gifts, talents and abilities in ministry contact the Adult Impact Ministry office. New Ministry Opportunities AIM will assist GABC members who see a need or ministry opportunity to create a platform from which to launch a new ministry. If you have an idea, we can help you with the “nuts and bolts” of making it a reality. Partners in Community Service (PiCS) GABC has partnered with over 25 local Tyler Community Service & Non Profit organizations to not only meet the needs of GABC members, but to provide volunteers and resources for these organizations. We continue to explore new partnership possibilities. Check out www.gabc.org/aim for the latest information on PiCS.

Hope for 100: encouraging GABC families to consider adoption and foster care for children who need loving, Christian homes. This leadership team is involved in all aspects of pre- and post- adoption support through education and encouragement in the entire process of adoption and foster care. We offer financial support and guidance through our partnership with The ABBA Fund. Hope for 100 also supports the work of Kenyan Girls Rescue Program by providing sponsorships for these girls who have escaped abuse, mutilation and early forced marriages. Forever Families provides post adoptive support through one-on-one discussions, annual workshops plus support groups that meet throughout the year. There are opportunities for moms, dad and the entire family to receive support and encouragement. www.TylerForeverFamilies.org

Minister, Kevin Burdette, is a certified Christian Life Coach and is available for coaching sessions.
WIN Ministry: providing qualified volunteers to help with “honey do's” for the widows, widowers and senior single women of GABC. We need carpenters, electricians, plumbers and handy-men of all types. We also need people to help with transportation for doctor appointments. You can volunteer your time and abilities to help in a variety of ways from team leadership and organization to providing services to the widows and senior single women of our church. Call the WIN hotline for more information: 903-525-3290.

Foundations of Faith: is a program to help adults better understand their Christian heritage in order to live out their faith more effectively. In addition to learning opportunities in a classroom setting there are travel opportunities to fully explore what is being studied. There are volunteers needed to assist with teaching, planning and organizing these events.
Social/Fellowship Events for all Adults, Families, SMBS Classes & Friends are held throughout the year. There are “Family Fun Nights,” Valentines Banquet, Boomer Bashes and others offered throughout the year. There are multiple areas of volunteer leadership needed to facilitate these fun fellowship events

Celebrate Recovery
If you have 12-step recovery experience, you are needed for service and leadership. Meetings are held every Monday night from 6:00-9:00 p.m. (even holidays), and we need individuals who want to train to lead or co-lead focus groups, help with hospitality needs, and meet/greet newcomers. The need is especially great for those who have this experience who would be willing to help with a future teen group OR those with a heart for children who want to work in the children’s “pre-covery” program. Training is provided.
Bible Study Leaders GraceWorks presents Bible studies throughout the year in specific areas of need such as codependency, depression, abuse recovery, anger management, and more. These groups are especially effective when facilitated by someone who has overcome struggles in those particular areas. Materials are available; all we need are individuals who are willing to make themselves available to shepherd a small group.
