Deepak Sood. The budget was very well explained by him, giving all relevant details in two parts; one for club administration and the other for service projects, covering all avenues of service. After due deliberations in the meeting the budget 2017-18 was unanimously passed by the house. In our regular meeting on September 15,

2017 we had our Club Assembly in which

budget for the Rotary year 2017-18 was

meticulously presented by our Treasurer

PP Rtn. Deepak Sood. The budget was

very well explained by him, giving all

Toilet block at Mataur

The inauguration ceremony

Rotary Club Chandigarh Midtown has provided a toilet

facility to the students of Govt Secondary School,

under the Swachh Vidyalaya Abhiyan on 14th

September 2017. The chief guest PDG Manpreet Singh

Gandhoke inaugurated the facility. President Dr. Rita

Kalra was pleased to acknowledge, “PP Kanan Diwan

has put in real hard work and tremendous effort in

execution of the project.” She also complimented PDG

Shaju Peter, as 7 toilet projects have been successfully

completed in last one year.

In addition to above mentioned Rotarians, others

present were PDG Yoginder Diwan, IPP Amarjit

Singh, Rtn. Sundeep Singh Sawhney, PE Ashok Puri

with R‟ann Sudha Puri, President Harvinder Singh of

Rotary Club Mohali, alongwith PP Poonam Gandhoke

and IPP Sukhpreet Singh Giani.

Sad demise Dr. B.D. Gupta

With great sorrow this is to

inform about the sad demise of

our Charter (First) President

1977-78 Dr. B.D. Gupta on

September 17, 2017.

Our heartfelt condolences to

Mrs. Kamlesh Gupta and other

members of the family.

TB eradication program

Our club distributed 150 boxes of nutrition supplements, donated by Rtn. Sachin

Adokar, to patients for Multi Drug Resistance (MDR) on 11.09.17 at State TB Cell in

Chandigarh.

These were distributed through our President Dr. Rita Kalra and staff of TB cell.

Blood Donation Camp was held at Govt. College,

Sector 1, Panchkula on 08.09.2017 in the presence of

President Dr. Rita Kalra, Rtn. Dr. Sanjay Kalra, Rtn.

Nitin Kapur, Rtn. Kulbir Singh Bhatia, PE Ashok

Kumar Puri, R‟ann Sudha Puri, Dr. Manisha Sahni,

Swatch Vidyalaya

Swachhta Vidyalaya campaign by Govt of India has

been seriously taken up by our club. With keen efforts

of Rtn. Dr. Harinder Jit Kaur and Rtn. Renu Chopra,

almost 50 schools have been covered by organizing

poster making competition by students, and also

training them for cleanliness drive.

Rotaract District Assembly

Rotaract District Assembly , „The Golden Throne‟ and the

installation of District Rotaract Representative Rtr.

Yashika Sagar, and all the Rotaract Presidents and

Secretaries of the District was held on 10th September 2017

at Lawrence Public Senior Secondary School, Sector 51-C,

Chandigarh. DG T.K. Ruby was the chief guest. PDG

Madhukar Malhotra, DGE Praveen Goyal and District

Secretary Ajay Madan were also present.

From our club the assembly was attended by District

Youth Service Chair Rtn. Sundeep Singh Sawhney, Rtn.

Nitin Kapur, Rtn. Kulbir Singh Bhatia and Secretary Rtn.

Jeeten Bhambri.

Rotary Outreach to Society by our Club

Rtn. Sundeep Singh Sawhney gave a presentation at

EVRY India Pvt. Limited, Mohali, a subsidiary of

EVRY, Norway, the largest Nordic IT Group. In order

to inspire this company to contribute through Rotary

for service projects, Sundeep spoke about the Projects

undertaken by Rotary Chandigarh Midtown for the

benefit of the Society.

Mr. Trond Vinje, EVP Human Resources, EVRY Oslo

and the management team of Mohali Center lauded the

efforts of our Club for serving the humanity, and

making a difference.

Global Grant # 1747695 Happy Schools Payment Received

IPP Amarjit Singh is pleased to inform that a sum of

Rs. 39,33,431.68 has been received in our designated

Chandigarh Midtown Happy School Project account

from Rotary Foundation (India). With this, both the

Global Grants which were approved during Rotary

year 2016-17 stand paid.

The objective of Happy Schools, under Rotary India

Literacy Mission's T-E-A-C-H program, is to

provide/upgrade the infrastructural and co-scholastic

facilities in Government and Govt-aided schools, to

make them secure, attractive and happy learning places

for students and teachers, and to prevent drop outs.

Under this grant our club shall be providing School

Desks, Water Coolers, Water Filters, Sanitary Napkin

Dispensers and Incinerators, Hand Wash Stations,

Specially designed School Bags, Libraries and up

gradation of toilets and sanitation conditions in 19

schools.
