IT’S TIME TO LEVEL UP!

“Point your kids in the right direction- when they’re old they won’t be lost.”

~Proverbs 22:6 msg

New leaders are being born in our church family every year. Leaders in every area of life come from our church, many beginning as young children. A way to keep them going is to honor them, and give God glory for them. “The sight of the glory of the Lord was like a consuming fire on the top of the mountain in the eyes of the children of Israel.” ~Exodus 24:17 It’s time to walk in the glory for which the ancestors prayed.

LEVEL UP! is a righteous theme considering the Rev. Akil Dickens, Senior Minister to Youth, Ebenezer AME Church in Ft. Washington, MD brings his most dynamic proclamation to the our pulpit. He has cleared much responsibility to bring God’s word, “Brothers and sisters, there is food at the table!!!” Let’s all come out and be in the number.

ALL GRADUATES, of every level, what a wonderful day of graduation and celebration we pray you have had. We hope each of you will be present, so that we may rejoice. You are the victories of our faith! And there is a call to everyone: it’s time to LEVEL UP!

ANNUAL LAY DAY SPEAKER FORMER WHITE HOUSE STAFF & PERSONAL ASSISTANT TO MICHELLE OBAMA, MS. STEPHANIE L. YOUNG!

Stephanie L. Young, Vice-President of Strategic Partnerships and Communications, a New York based company, is one of the most accomplished, politically versed and socially conscious young adults in America today. After graduating from Hampton University, she had the privilege of working in Congress and in the Obama White House. She has spent most of this year accompanying Michelle Obama on her recent book tour. Ms. Young has both the resume and exposure to be a voice of reason and conscience for our society today.

A lifelong AME, Ms. Young is the daughter of the late Bishop McKinley Young and retired Supervisor Dorothy Young. She was raised in America and South Africa, as her parents have been international Christian servants. We are honored to host this strong voice for a new day at DuPage AME Church and especially encourage all of our aspiring college students and young adults to be present and take advantage of this blessed opportunity. August will be here before we know it. Let’s put this on our calendars now and plan to be present.

THE PRODIGAL STEWARD BY PATRICIA WILSON BAKER

HIDDEN FIGURES He or she that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High

shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord; God is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in God will I trust. Psalm 91:1-2

God has a plan for your financial success, but you have to avail yourself to it. God’s plan is that you will grow financially as you grow spiritually. To do this, we have to trust and exercise faith. We demonstrate our faith in the world’s economic system all the time, but we struggle to demonstrate that same level of faith in God’s economy. We need to trust God.

We have no trouble taking our money to a bank and expecting a half percent rate of return. But we hesitate to bring our tithes into God’s storehouse and trust God to open up the windows of heaven and pour out an abundance of blessings. To our natural minds a tithe doesn’t make sense. Why would God want to give us more than we have been given? The math doesn’t add up.

I give ten percent. This is the tithe I give to this church that feeds my spirit, and where I serve God in community. It is here that I am treated like family, prayed for, and encouraged to grow in Christ. It is here that I am ministered to. It is a safe, warm, clean place to worship, People are greeted with smiles and hugs. Here so much is done freely, willingly, and with a cheerful heart according to God’s plan but it still doesn’t add up. Our human minds can’t make sense of it.

The only explanation is God must use hidden figures. In God’s economy of blessing, God adds what we can’t see, but certainly experience; like His goodness, favor, and the abundance of heavenly treasures. We give God the principle and we get the increase in blessing.

It is dwelling in that secret place of knowing, trusting, depending, and resting; that we will learn to trust and follow God’s word as naturally as we believe our banks to protect our deposits or the financial institutions to protect and grow our investments. Knowing that our return in God’s economy is greater than we can think or even imagine. We are building an eternal nest egg.

“When I was hungry you fed Me …” ~Matthew 25:35
