Dear Parents and Students:

W elcome back to the 2017 - 2018 school year. Hopefully, you had a restful and enjoyable summer and are ready to return to another exciting year at W il- bur E. Lucas Elementary.

First, I would like to congratulate all of you on a great job for the past school year. Data shows we Met Standard on STAAR and earned 5 Distinctions. W ilbur E. Lucas Elemen- tary and Valley View ISD are one of the few schools and districts to achieve this accom- plishment.

I look forward to working with you and your child during the upcoming school year. Please feel free to contact me at any time if you have questions or concerns or praises. Help me to develop a positive working rela- tionship between the home and school to provide your child with

Estoy deseando que llegue el reto de otro año y la oportunidad de trabajar junto a usted. En primer lugar, me gustaría felicitar a todos ustedes por un gran trabajo del año escolar pasado. Datos muestran que aprovechamos Met Standard en las pruebas de STAAR con 5 Reconocimientos Distinguidos. La Escuela Primaria de Wilbur E. Lucas y Valley View ISD son una de las pocas

Participating in your child’s schooling is one of the most im-

portant ways you can help him/her be successful. Try to at-

tend events (PTO, Literacy Night) where you can learn about

ways to support him/her at home. You will build stronger

relationships with teachers, and your child will see that

school is a priority.

Participar en la vida escolar de su hijo(a) es una de las

maneras más eficaces de ayudarlo a que triunfe en los estudi-

os. Procure acudir a las juntas (PTO, Noche de Lectura) donde

podrá descubrir maneras de apoyarlo en casa. Formará rela-

ciones mas solidas con los maestros y su hijo(a) vera que la

escuela es una prioridad.

A visitors must present identification before taking children to the

gym. Visitors will not be allowed to enter the hallways after 7:45

a.m. To pick up your child, you must present identification and

sign out your child.

Es requerido su identificación para llevar sus niños al gimnasio en

las mañanas. Padres no pueden pasar después de las 7:45 a.m.

Para recoger sus niños, es requerido presentar identificación y

firma por el/ella.

Reminders/Recordatorios School begins at 7:40 a.m. Clases empiezan a las 7:40 a.m.

Students may enter the building at 7:10 and report to the

library or gym. Estudiantes pueden entrar a las 7:10 y pasar a la

biblioteca o gimnasio.

Parents will not be allowed in the classrooms after

September 1st. No se permiten padres en los salones de clase

To qualify for attendance award, students must arrive on time

each day. Students who are tardy 3 times or leave early 3

times will not qualify for the attendance award. Para tener

Wilbur E. Lucas Elementary Parent & Visitor Parking and Drop Off

Morning Drive-Thru Cars will enter the school grounds through the caliche road off of Anaya/Olmos Road. Parents that want to drop off students will continue in Drive-Thru lane and exit onto McColl Road. Please yield the right of way to traffic coming from the parking lot. Cars will only be able to turn right upon exiting the school grounds. Morning Parking Lot Cars will enter the school grounds through the driveway gates on McColl Road. Parents that want to walk their children in to the building will enter the East parking lot to park their car.

Be sure to park within the parking stripes

Handicapped Parking Permits will be honored, as long as the person for whom the permit is intended is in the car at that time.

Upon exiting, cars will merge onto traffic exiting the school grounds. Please yield the right of way to traffic coming from the Drive-Thru. Cars will only be able to turn right upon exiting the school grounds. Afternoon Pick Up All cars will enter the school grounds through the driveway gates off McColl Road and park in the East parking lot.

Be sure to park within the parking stripes

Por favor, ceda el paso al tráfico que sale del área de estacionamiento, los coches sólo podrán voltear a la derecha o a la izquierda al salir de la escuela. Los padres/familiares/tutores/guarderías se les recuerdan Es necesario traer una forma de identificación con foto y firmar para poder recoger a su hijo(a).
