Peace 100 Days of SchoolToday TK celebrated their 100th day of school. We had so much fun working with the number 100 all day long. We made a gum ball machine using 100 dots, created a tasty trail mix with 10 different snacks (making 100 pieces in our mix)!, and we even built with 100 cups! However, our 100th day shirts were the best part of the day. We all got to show off our 100 items on the t-shirts we each got to make. TK is definitely 100 days brighter! -Ms. SabrinaMakerspaceThe Assumption School’s Makerspace is beginning to offer state of the art learning technology for all the students to use. There will be 3D printers, programming stations, digital multimedia, and robotics. Students of all ages have things offered to them to explore. In the Makerspace there is basic Lego robots for younger grades to explore with, more advanced programmable modular Lego robots, and Sphero rolling robots. These learning tools prepare everyone to succeed in high school and beyond. The 3D printer will enable all students to make models and toys. Multimedia equipment will enable the school to produce videos for school projects, possible live streaming our morning assembly on rainy days, and more. Students can be prepared for the future by learning computer programming in the Makerspace and creating real world application. The Assumption School Makerspace team is hard at work making the space a safe, fun, creative environment for everyone. This week our Design and Engineering Team is visiting all classroom to introduce to all students how our Makerspace will provide the exploration of their innovation and ideas.

-Julian b. (’19)CYO*Congratulations to our 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade Girls Volleyball teams. Our 7th and

8th Grade teams were eliminated from the Metro League Championship on Saturday. Our 6th team advanced to the Metro League Championship and loss the 15 point tie-breaker game. They took the red-ribbon medal for 2nd Place and advance to the Oakland Diocese Championship on Saturday, February 16th at St. Theresa’s (1:00 p.m.).*The 7th grade volleyball team thanks Assumption School Alumni Victoria Orozco (‘17) for a memorable season. Her coaching approach increased player technical skills, cultivated a supportive environment, and fostered team cohesion. In addition, her passion for the sport made the practices lots of fun! Assumption School is fortunate to have alumni like Victoria who come back to share their time and talents—Thank you!Assumption ScientistOn a rainy, windy, Saturday in Alameda, the high school community of St Joseph’s Notre Dame hosted the Diocese of Oakland Science Fair. With projects from all over the diocese cast throughout the gym, our very own Julian B. (’19), Assumption’s Science Fair Champion, was presenting his “Can a Catalytic Converter Clean the Open Air?” Julian placed for his overall presentation! We could not be any prouder of him and all his accomplishments, we celebrate his achievement. When you see him around campus, please congratulate him for all of his hard work!St. Patrick’s DinnerPlease save the date for our Parish Saint Patrick's Dinner on Sunday, March 17th.

YOUTH PROGRAMS With programs rich in tradition, Catholic Charities CYO Summer Camp creates an environment where youth can explore the world around them and develop powerful friendships that will last a lifetime. Summer days are filled with a large variety of activities including swimming, hiking, archery, soul food, tie-dye, gaga ball, sports, and canoeing. CYO Summer Camp staff host exciting evening programs such as talent shows, campfires, dances, and sleeping under the stars. Each day campers are invited to select activities that fit their individual interests. Every camper will experience an off-site excursion to either the Sonoma Coast or a local nature reserve. Age-appropriate Villages ensure that your child will have the opportunity to create a community with kids their own age in a safe and healthy environment.

VillagesFreestone (ages 8–10) Named for a nearby town, Freestone is where the fun begins. Whether they’re experiencing a week away from home for the first time or the third time, Freestone campers grow unexpectedly and go beyond what they thought was possible.

Middle Earth (ages 10–12) Middle Earth is the place where campers explore their role as a steward of their community and our planet. Activities allow their interpersonal skills to flourish in this rich environment while fostering a sense of wonder and a deeper connection to nature.

Wildwood (ages 12–14) Team building activities, leadership development, and a community rich in tradition are all part of the unforgettable experience of Wildwood. Campers deepen their understanding of themselves, others, nature, and God in this dynamic environment.

Catholic Charities CYO Summer Camp Staff The enthusiastic and diverse staff of CYO Summer Camp work together to create an unforgettable experience for your child. Many were campers themselves and have dreamed of the day when they would lead a cabin of campers. Our staff returns year after year to develop leadership skills, grow professionally, and be positive role models for the next generation. They embody the CYO Camp philosophy and share a passion for fun-filled adventure in nature. Counselors are mentors, peer leaders, and exceptional childcare workers who engage campers in activities that balance fun, friendship, responsibility, respect, and trust. Our dedicated staff is committed to making a difference in the lives of the youth we serve.

Teen ProgramsStepping Stone (ages 15–17) On the historic Miwok side of CYO Camp, teens reconnect with themselves as they unplug from modern technology and take a break from the fast pace of their everyday life. The last “step” before taking on a leadership role, Stepping Stone campers celebrate diversity while discovering their true selves. Each session features an off-site excursion to the Russian River.

Counselor In Training (CIT) Program (ages 16–17) Participants in our CIT program gain invaluable leadership qualities and improve skills related to self-expression, peer relationships, role modeling, and accountability. Throughout each session CITs gain responsibility and experience a feeling of accomplishment while mentoring young campers. In addition to hands-on leadership training, CITs will receive up to 70 community service hours and certification in CPR. Both the CIT registration form and application are required to register for this program and can be found at: CatholicCharitiesSF.org/cyocamp
