Jottings from Janie…..
Some people come into our
lives and quickly go. Some
stay for a while and leave
footprints on our hearts.
And we are ever, ever the
same.
Some wonderful people cleaned up the front garden.
Steve Bristow sprayed the weeds. Because he cared
enough to do that, Janie and Chuck Gonder started
weeding. Because we started, Don Hayward hoed and
weeded to make the area look really good. Chuck came
back and dug a trench by the building so it should not leak
again. Don Overmire donated a precious statue in memory
of his wife, Janice. Christine Ashley weeded and broke up
the soil for planting. These are people who quietly go
about the business of making our lodge better….and they
do leave footprints on our hearts.
On December 3 be sure to attend the Marysville
Christmas Parade. The Yuba City Moose Family Center
will have a Winter Moose’ float. Be sure to make some
noise when we pass by.
December 17 is the annual WOTM Christmas Dinner
Dance. The grand prize for the raffle is a television. The
decorations for the occasion will be breathtaking. We do
need some extra nice raffle prizes, please help us with this.
We really dress up for this event. I believe the women will
receive a “flashy” Christmas surprise…....come and check
it out!
A huge thanks goes out to Joanne King for stepping in
as College of Regents chairman for Doris Geyer. Joanne is
and excellent planner and leader. She really steps up to the
plate. I already know what a great real estate agent she is!
December is Community Service Month, Charline
Gonder is the chairman. She will be having BAKE SALES
all month so get out your best recipes and bring your baked
deserts on Wednesdays and Sundays. I cannot wait!
Our Hunk of the Month is Don Hayward. He has
cleaned up all around the gardens. He really did a nice job
in the front! He quietly takes care of business and then he
slips away. Thank you, Don for all that you do. 2 Wednes-
day dinners are yours. We really do appreciate you!
Our volunteer of the Month is Mona Routzong. She did
a super job on the Fashion Show. She was officer of the
month for November and again in December. Mona is the
cashier for the WOTM breakfast and she is the Secretary-
Treasurer this year. She also gives
great raffle gifts. A presentation will
be made at the first meeting in
December.
Hi Moose Members,
Well, the Holiday season is
here and the lodge is once again
very busy with private functions.
Private functions help to
financially support the lodge.
However, please come on down
and support the lodge for the
WOTM’s Annual Christmas Dinner Dance on Saturday,
December 17. We will also have the LOOM Annual
New Year’s Eve Party Saturday, December 31. The
Board of officers and I have worked very hard on this
event. Buy your ticket early. We will only be selling
200 tickets. There will be a door prize and a shuttle ser-
vice available.
Thanks to everyone that supported functions last
month. We had a great turn out for the Veteran’s Day
Dinner. A big thank you goes to the VFW for the flag
folding, Ray Bull for his speech and Don and his crew
for a great spaghetti dinner.
Thanks to everyone who has gotten in a member.
Look on the board we now have 41 new members. I
think if we ask our friends, family and neighbors, we
will get up to a hundred members soon. I know we can
do it. Remember all you have to do is get in two
members and your next year dues are paid.
Most of you probably know by now we have a new
administrator. I would like to welcome Dave Benner to
the Board. We appreciate your coming forward and
helping the lodge. I would also like to give a big thank
you to Nick Eytcheson our Treasurer. Nick did a great
job as the acting administrator for the last few months.
Thanks Nick for all the extra hours and hard work.
My pick for Super Moose of the month is GW
Hensen. In the last few months GW has gotten very
active in the lodge. He helps cook breakfast on the 4th
Sunday and helps cook some great tacos on taco
Tuesday. The WOTM Shining Star is Melissa Hensen.
Melissa also works on the 4th Sunday Breakfast, she
makes some great cinnamon rolls and she works hard
on a taco Tuesday crew. Thanks to you!!
Well, have a very Merry Christmas and Happy New
Years. If you have any questions or concerns please
email me at [email protected].

IMPORTANT STUFF!!!!
Campaign May 1, 2011 - April 30, 2012
MEMBERSHIP NEWS!!
Free Dues, Free Food, Free Gas, Free Jacket and much more!
Each of our members took on a commitment to grow our fraternity and some of you have
really taken it to heart and helped grow our organization. For that we are eternally grate-
ful. To those who have not we ask that you please help your Lodge and Chapter grow by
bringing former members back and signing up new members into our great organization.
Membership is the life blood of our lodge and financial success really depends on member-
ship. Without it we can not help the kids or seniors or any of the other commitments to
such worthwhile organizations like the Special Olympics. While it would be nice to grow
larger it is imperative that we at least stay even by reducing the loss of mem-
bers. We have some great incentives to help motivate you like free dues or free
gas and food, moose bucks and even an embroidered Moose Jacket with your
name on it! By bringing in your friends and associates we get to meet great peo-
ple and you also get rewarded. Please help,
Bill Thompson and Larry Salem - Membership Chairmen

UNSUNG HEROES
This month it’s easy to write “Unsung Heroes’ because so many people did such nice things.
First, I think I should comment on Jim Hedge! What a great guy! In November he put on a private party for the Baptist Church, he does the Wednesday night dinner, is an officer on the men’s board, works private func-tions with Arlis, the birthday dinner and does the yard. But, that’s not all. I want to thank him for the Veter-an’s Day Celebration. He marched in the parade with some of our other members for the VFW. He also was
very involved at the lodges’ Veteran’s Day Program and dinner. Thanks, Jim! Thank you to Dave Benner who stepped up to the plate and became our new administrator!
Thank you Dave, we’re all sure you will do a great job at a not so easy position! Joann King, you’re back! In November Doris Geyer was our College of Regents Chair, but because of Dave’s
illness, Joann stepped in. We all hope Dave is getting better and Doris will be back soon. But, who knew—Joann was there! She conducted the College meeting without a hitch, she organized pie sales all month and
came to all the meetings representing Doris. Thank you, Joann, you’re a great friend to Doris and to all of the WOTM.
Larry Salem has organized the Thanksgiving Dinner now for 13 years. How great is that? Thank you Larry. Larry does lots of things at the lodge. He works Wednesday nights, works on LOOM breakfast, puts on
private parties, works birthday dinners, organizes the pre-pit in August, the 4th of July barbeque and he’s a trustee. Nice job, Larry. In case no one has told you lately,
‘We do appreciate you’! Last, I’d like to mention Laura Kriss. Laura, WOW, this Woman is at the lodge almost every day. Not only is she a guide for the WOTM, she’s also in charge of funerals for the men. It seems like she’s been extra busy
the last few months. She’s also on Arlis’ crew so she’s busy doing private parties, bridge luncheons and breakfasts. Thank you, Laura, for all you do.
Charline Gonder
Merry Christmas to all….
FROM THE ADMINISTRATOR
Hello to all Moose Members,
This is my first message as the New Administrator. I finally
weakened and had my arm twisted hard enough and I accepted the
job. Actually, my wife Jean finally agreed that she wanted me out
of the house more and she said “Yes”. Now I can spend the next
six months learning all the many aspects of exactly what it is that I
volunteered to do. I am pleased to be working with the current
board of officers as well as the board from the Women of the
Moose.
My goal for the job is to keep the office running smoothly and
in compliance with Moose International regulations, make sure
monies are properly accounted for, and work so we (Yuba City
Lodge 1204/WOTM 1089) continue to be one of the largest and
best lodges in Northern California. I ask for everyone’s support as
well as your ideas as to how we can grow both in membership and
financially. I will be around the lodge regularly so you can chat
me up or drop me a note.
Thanks to all for the warm welcome into this demanding
position and offers of future support. I look forward to a
harmonious and productive tour as the Administrator.
David Benner, Administrator

Many thanks to the Women of the Moose for all their kindness and hard work in making Estine Goins
Memorial so wonderful. Also, very special gratitude to the College of Regents, Barbara Green, Joann
King, Jessie Dodson and Dorothy Norton, for their heartfelt words of kindness and presentation of the
funeral ceremony. The LOOM and WOTM have always been important to our parents and
will always be in our hearts as well. God Bless you all.
