Turning the Corner

It’s time, yes it’s finally time to shake off the dust and clean the front windows.

“Yes sir, we are finally turning the corner in this economy.” How many times have seen that in print or heard that statement said by a local businessman or politician. Everyone wants it to be that way, but it’s going to happen and we’ll not even know it. What most people do know for certain is that we’ve changed our ways of liv-ing and doing business. This change is truly for the better! We’ve become more efficient, we’re more patient when we go to purchase goods and services and we work harder than we ever have before.

All this extra work and still less business. This should be tomorrows headline; Get used to it! This is the new 21st century way that things work. Money doesn’t go as far as it used to, so improvise. How about learning more about how you can make barter work in your life. It’s really pretty simple when you think about it. Barter dollars are usually easier to put into your account than cash, and if you use your barter account first, (before spending cash) then your cash will still be waiting there to pay all your regular bills. Adver-tise, print, and keep your business operational using barter service companies. Keep your staff happy by setting them up a barter sub account. Take care of your home and family using your barter ac-count.

The more you know about BARTER the easier it is to use it. Knowl-edge is power! So don’t be depressed about the economy, that’s old news. You are a living and breathing member of today’s econ-omy. Membership is not optional for business people. We have a whole new set of rules now, and if you want to prosper you have to play harder. Here are the rules, now go play. A smart man once told me “you have to know the rules, so that you’ll know how to break them.” So if any of you think that you’ve actually turned the corner, please keep this in mind; there is another corner right down the road. Barter Up Dude!

The dictionary will tell you success is the achievement of something desired, planned, or attempted. There are folks that will say, “One is successful because they were lucky or they were at the right place at the right time, “but I say, success is based on choices and not luck.’

Success has always been attributed to hard work and pre-planning. Hence, we have business plans, marketing plans, sales plans and training plans. Preparation is also a key element in success – not to mention a goal or destination to be reached. If the Captain of the ship sailed from port without a destination and a chart or map to follow, I dare say we would have a lot of ships bobbing about the four corners of earth.

Your destination is your goal and your chart is your preparation and training. You have to make the choice to be successful. What your mind can conceive, you can achieve. Today’s economy places extra challenges on each of us to find success, but it is out there, just a little harder to find at times. I encourage everyone to keep working towards a successful completion of their goals. Those who do will be properly positioned for BIG success when the economy thrives again.

Gary Bergenske books and CD’s are available at the Barter Network and he is available as a

motivational speaker.

Barter is ForeverThe barter system for getting goods and services dates back many centuries. In most cultures the barter system was used before money was created. People who had specific items or services to sell would exchange them with others for the things they needed. The barter system transcends the monetary system. In today’s economy it is sometimes easier to exchange your prod-uct or service for that of another. What makes the barter system even better today than ever before is that it can now be done glob-ally. In the past bartering was simply done with those that were located nearby. If the family raised chickens they traded chickens or eggs for items they needed such as cloth with which to make clothing.

Today the barter system can be used in a much more sophisticated way than ever before yet it carries with it the same basic motiva-tion - the need for something that you don’t have and the excess of something that someone else wants. The barter system allows you to negotiate the worth of your item or service in relation to products or services that you want.

Good negotiation is the key to making good trades. The barter sys-tem works best when both parties feel that they have made a good deal. While the barter system originated based on basic needs to-day the barter system continues to thrive. Modern life has given people access to many more things than ever before. Most people have things that they no longer need or want and can use to trade for items that they do want or need.

The barter system doesn’t necessarily use money to operate. Since money varies in value from country to country bartering is easy to do anywhere in the world. Explorers and pilgrims used the barter system to get the things they needed for their journeys. The system uses the fact that some areas and some people have things that aren’t always available elsewhere. For example explor-ers traded their goods for items such as spices that were not avail-able where they came from.

The barter system in one form or another will continue to be used in society as long as people continue to have and need goods and services. The system works well and is particularly helpful when using different currency or when the economy slows.

Did Someone say Holiday Tradeshow? By: G. Jason Bergenske

So, it’s that time of year again… Yes, that’s right the holiday tradeshow on Tuesday, November 16, 2010. We are expecting to sell out the member booths which means you are going to be able to get most if not all of your holiday shopping done, all through The Barter Network. I know right, now that’s exciting. To give you an idea of last year, we had everything from Hi-End Electronics, Surveillance Systems, Camera’s, Safes, Individual Candles, and Premade Candle Baskets, Furniture, Glassware Galore, Fine Jewelry, Mary Kay Products, Avon Products, Tons of Children Toys, Disney Collectibles, and Gift Certificates from Tons of Places like Rivership Romance & Semoran Skateway. Pretty much, if you

miss this event, you’re going to be sorry…

Make sure if you would like a booth for the event that you contact our office as several of the booths are already presold.

Back to SchoolSummer is over and the kids are heading back to school, gone are the summers endless days and freedom to wander…

Now, we watch as our vacation time drifts away, weekends are the only time to escape to another adventure. So, what is wrong with weekends? Summer goes on, we live in Florida, it’s almost always

summer here. Even when it gets cold, it doesn’t stay for long…

Why not plan mini vacations, one or two day trips to nearby sites. When was the last time you visited Mt. Dora, Titusville, N.A.S.A., or even the Keys? Many of the smaller towns in Central Florida are rich in history and most have a little bit of something for everyone, shopping, outdoor activities, we even found that there are still Drive-In theatres in Florida.

Sometimes you just have to set aside the hurry and worry of regular days and take time for an adventure.
