grace, light and love in our lives. The evidence of His power andinfluence is everywhere aroundus, and it can found in some-thing as simple as a prayer. In fact, on Page 6, Member

Evelyn P. from New Jerseywrites how she believes thepower of prayer saved her son’slife after he was hit by a straybullet. “The next few hours after that

were a blur of hospital waitingrooms and talking to doctors. Iremember waiting for my son toget out of surgery,” she said.“Suddenly, I recalled how I usedto say Fellowship’s DailyPrayers. Right then, I bent myhead and prayed with every-thing I had, Father, please let myboy be OK, and guide the giftedhands of his doctors.’ Evelyn said it seemed like for-

ever before the surgeon cameback to the waiting area to speakto her. “He said my son was lucky

that the bullet didn’t strike anyorgans or major blood vessels, and he would be OK. I gavethanks to God for saving myson’s life, and vowed to seek Hishelp to find a safer place to raisemy kids!”We’re delighted Evelyn’s son

will be OK. And our hearts alsogo out to Member Glen G. fromPennsylvania, who wrote us apoignant letter about how hewas injured and ended up in thesame room with his wife, whowas in a healthcare center her-self before she passed away. Glen was able to go home, and

writes that, “I have myDevotional Times each morningand evening, when I say myDaily Prayers. I like to think ofmy late wife as a silent partnerin those prayers, because weoften prayed together. I get mymost helpful blessings from theprayers in Faith Magazine andmy Bible.”God bless you, Glen. We hope

you recover completely. Finally, on Page 31 we talk

God Is The Source Of Light And Grace In Our Lives!

When the Lord is near, youcertainly will feel His warmthand love in your soul, DearMember. For He is the source ofall grace and love in our lives. The Bible talks about this in

Isaiah 60:19 . . . “The sun shall beno more thy light by day; neitherfor brightness shall the moongive light unto thee: but the Lordshall be unto thee an everlastinglight, and thy God thy glory.” Yes, the power and influence

of God are everywhere, DearFriend. It can come from some-thing as simple as a prayer. Itmay be felt in the abundant lifethat wakes up when winterloosens its grasp on the land, and in the tender leaves thatsprout after a rain. God’s grace also plays a big

role in our lives, even as we goabout the daily routines of workand home. That unexpected let-ter from a friend or relative thatpicks up your spirits, or a ran-dom act of kindness from astranger really make a differ-ence in how we feel. And, they’rean example of how God’s graceworked within those friends orstrangers by influencing them todo something nice for someoneelse! It is important for us to recog-

nize and acknowledge suchexamples of God’s influence, both large and small, DearFriend, so we never forget whomakes them possible.

God’s grace is many differentthings . . . a power that changespeople’s hearts and minds, thefeeling that they can accomplishtheir goals, or a gift given to allwho accept Him into their lives. His blessings often arrive atunexpected times and places, because He reveals them in Histime. You can trust God hearsyour prayers and knows exactlywhat you need, Dear Member. For He knows your past andfuture, and the faith in yoursoul. It’s wonderful to have such a

friend, with whom you can beyourself without pretense orworry. God will never forsakeyou, or leave you to fend foryourself. He is there for usthrough good and bad, wealthand scarcity, illness and health. Why? Because that’s what

friends are for!

Dear Friends, I want to share astory with you today. It’s abouthow I came to realize God wasworking in my life, and I neededto work with Him if I wantedthings to go right for me. I’m a longtime Member of

Fellowship. I grew up readingthe Three Daily Prayers and get-ting inspiration from the storiesand Bible Verses in FaithMagazine. As I grew up andmoved out on my own, I got dis-tracted by the daily routine offamily and work, and I lost trackof Fellowship. At that time, my children and

I were living in what real estatepeople like to call an “up andcoming” neighborhood. Whatthat often means is, it’s a placethat needs to come a long way upbefore most folks would want tolive there! There was graffitisprayed on buildings, the streetswere littered with trash and itwas common to hear the soundof gunfire after dark. It wasn’t a place were I wanted

to live, but I was working twopart time jobs and couldn’t findan affordable home in a betterneighborhood. My kids were young and I wor-

ried all the time about themplaying outside. I feared theymight be lured into a gang whenthey were older, or even hit by astray bullet. Well, you won’t be surprised

when I tell you the unthinkable

happened. My son was playingball with his friends when theygot caught in the crossfire of adrive-by shooting. The next few hours after that

were a blur of hospital waitingrooms and talking to doctors. Iremember waiting for my son toget out of surgery. Suddenly, Irecalled how I used to sayFellowship’s Daily Prayers.Right then, I bent my head andprayed with everything I had,“Father, please let my boy beOK, and guide the gifted handsof his doctors.”It seemed like forever before

the surgeon came into the wait-ing area to speak to me. He saidmy son was lucky that the bulletdidn’t strike any organs ormajor blood vessels, and hewould be OK. I gave thanks toGod for saving my son’s life, andvowed to seek His help to find asafer place to raise my kids!

Help Us Prosper!

Every year, we sit down andthink of what we can do to helpspread the word about the goodwork Fellowship does. Here’s anidea about how you can help uswith that, Dear Member!

Member Amy L. says she likesto get together with friends andtalk about the differenceFellowship has made in her life. Then, when her friends ask formore information, she pulls acopy of Faith Magazine out ofher purse to show them what it’sabout.

That’s a great way to introducefolks to our message, Amy.Working together, we can makesure Fellowship grows stronger!

“Means So Much”I am writing to tell you how

happy I am to have you in mylife. It means so much to me. If Ididn’t have Fellowship I wouldbe lost. You have made my lifevery happy, and I just wish mychildren would write me as oftenas you do! God bless you for allyou have done for me!

Some Members have inquiredabout how they might make abequest to Life-Study Fellowship.Through the years, many

Members have chosen to remem-ber our Fellowship in this spe-cial way and we are truly grate-ful. Some Members have includ-ed Fellowship in their wills, while others have named Life-Study Fellowship in their lifeinsurance policies. If you are interested in making

arrangements through your will,we suggest you talk with anattorney who can explain the taxadvantages and ways to go aboutmaking such a bequest.

Please remember that it is toeverybody’s advantage to have awill. This doesn’t apply just tothe very wealthy. The truth iseveryone who owns any propertyneeds a will to direct who shouldbenefit. Otherwise, some or all of your

property will be split up accord-ing to state law, which may leaveyour property in ways you didnot want or intend. Therefore, whether or not you

include a bequest to Life-StudyFellowship, we encourage you toseek the services of an attorneyto have a will drawn up if youhave not already done so.

Dear Fellowship, I want to giveyou a report about a serioushealth challenge I experienced afew years ago. My Daily Prayersbrought me much comfort, andI’m sure they helped me getthrough this problem. My wife and I were able to cel-

ebrate our 72nd weddinganniversary at a healthcare cen-ter where she had been a patientfor nearly a year. I also was residing at the cen-

ter then because I had fallen inmy church and broken a hip. Iwas there for about a monthbefore my wife passed away, andI thank God for the time we wereable to spend together before sheslipped away, quietly, holding myhand. She passed away withoutpain or suffering, which is akindness I thank our graciousFather for as well. I stayed at the healthcare cen-

ter for another month or sowhile my injury healed.Eventually, I returned home, where I am recovering with theaid of a walker and daily visitsby nursing staff and therapists. They tell me I am doing fine fora man of my age, and that I’mimproving and healing quitewell. I have my Devotional Times

each morning and evening, when I say my Daily Prayers. Ilike to think of my late wife as asilent partner in those prayers,

because we often prayed togeth-er. I get my most helpful bless-ings from the prayers in FaithMagazine and my Bible. Thank you so much to my

Friends in Fellowship for yourcorrespondence and caring man-ner. I invite you to join me inthanking our Heavenly Fatherfor His care and love. I’d alsolike Fellowship to send me acopy of a particular prayer thatthanks the Lord for all His bless-ings. I mainly want to get better and

be well until my son, who isserving in a unit in Iraq, returnshome. He is 57 years old and islooking forward to retiring fromthe military. It will be wonderfulto see him again. I am proud ofhis service, but I’ve missed hima lot.

One of our Fellowship Friendssuggested life is like a layercake. A variety of people arerepresented by scores of differ-ent flavors, fillings and icing. Some like vanilla, others choco-late, and still others bake theircake with fresh fruit.

The lesson of the cake is, amultitude of ingredients anddecisions go into everyone’s life. But only when the recipe ismixed properly does it turn intoa proper batter for a deliciouscake.

So, Dear Member, the questionis, how can we make sure our“cake” turns out the way wewant? Well, first we must startwith the right ingredients, suchas faith, thankfulness, self-help-fulness and prayer. Yes, theseare the building blocks for a suc-cessful life!

And, just like baking a cake,it’s important to use quality rawmaterials when you’re buildinga good life. For example, a lifewithout faith is like a cake with-out flour . . . there’s no founda-tion to build upon. Likewise, alife without thankfulness is sim-ilar to a cake without sugar . . . ithas no sweetness and is unpleas-ant to eat. And finally, a lifewithout determination toaccomplish your goals would belike a cake without eggs and but-ter . . . meaning there would benothing to hold your cake, or

life, together. And what aboutprayer, Dear Friend? Well, youmight think of that as the“icing” on your cake of life. Forprayer is what creates an antici-pation of what we want to hap-pen, like the first taste of icingatop the lovely cake you are cre-ating with the dawn of each day.

Despite all the challenges ofpulling the right ingredientstogether, it’s important toremain focused on how our cakeof life will come out in the end.Make sure it stays in the “oven”long enough, just as your lifeexperiences have taught youlessons about waiting until theright time to do certain things.Don’t forget to add a little spiceor extra flavor of your own, too, because all of us represent a dif-ferent recipe for God’s children. He brought together the rightingredients, and seasoned us tocreate a beautiful banquet ofhopes and dreams!

Dear Fellowship,

In spring 1996, I found a copyof Faith Magazine in my doc-tor’s office. I took it home andcopied it on my copier, thenplaced it back in the doctor’soffices for others. That one issuetook me back to the Lord, churchand Fellowship! I’m asking Godto bless you all for bringing onewho had “strayed” from theLord’s graces back to Him. It ishard for me, as my husband is anon-participant in listening toGod’s word. I give my FAITHcopies to the prison ministry afew miles from here, in hopes itwill help others. I also am creat-ing a library of Fellowship’smaterials for my church.

Member Mary G., Florida

Dear Fellowship Friends,

I’ve been a Member ofFellowship for about one yearnow. I really enjoy receiving allthe beautiful literature eachmonth. Words cannot expressthe joy that I get from readingyour Faith Magazine eachmonth. I will try to send a con-tribution as often as I can. I dounderstand the cost of prepar-ing such a wonderful word ofGod. I’m writing today because Ineed the word of God in myheart, today and every day.

I’m a single parent workingevery day, trying to supportmyself and my children.Sometimes, I get discouraged, because of the rising prices ofmaterial needs. I never seem tohave enough money left over atthe end of the month.

But the Lord keeps me going, and I make the best of what Ihave. I would like to start theProsperity Harvest Plan becauseI need the extra money. My sis-ter is getting married soon andmy family is involved financial-ly. I will pray that God will hearmy prayers and help me findextra work to earn more money.

Thank you, my FellowshipFriends, for taking time to readmy letter. I will appreciate allthe help that you send! May Godbless you, Fellowship.

“We Know She Is In God’s Hands Now!”

My Fellowship Friends,I want to talk to you about the

power of prayer, and what it cando for everyone.

On Oct. 1, 1966, we took ourbaby girl to the hospital becauseshe was very sick. She was justnine months old, and had beenborn a healthy baby on Dec, 22,1965.

The doctor couldn’t tell uswhat had happened to her, otherthan she might have a virus. Iwas in the hospital with her forone month, when the doctor toldus to take her home. He saidnothing more could be done forher. She had suffered brain dam-age from a high fever she hadexperienced at the hospital. So, we took our baby girl homeand had to teach her to suck onthe bottle like a newborn baby.

Anyway, during that monthwhen I was at the hospital, Ifound a book in my little girl’sroom. It was a Faith Magazineand once I read it I became aMember of Fellowship. I’ve beena Member ever since.

The doctor had told us ourdaughter wouldn’t last too long, due to the brain damage she hadsuffered. But with our prayersand God’s help, she grew intoadulthood. She lived to be 42years old, passing away in 2007. The doctor had said she would

never talk, see, or walk. But she

learned to do everything butwalk. She was in a wheelchair, but she went to school, had abeautiful voice and loved west-ern music. She learned parts in plays and

performed them when the the-ater group traveled out of town. She loved people and everyoneloved her.

Our daughter’s passing hasleft a big, empty space in ourhearts and home. But we knowthat she is in God’s Hands nowand we are very grateful for thetime we had with her. We knowthe Lord heard our prayers andgave us many years with ourbeautiful daughter. We treasureour memories of her.

Here are some helpful tips to savemoney, time and do things moreefficiently. We hope you’ll givesome of them a try, Dear Friend. And, if you have your own ideasabout organizing and cleaning, please pass them along to us. Wewould love to share them withyour Fellow Members!

* * *

BANISH TARNISHTo slow the tarnishing process ofsilver, place a piece of chalk inyour silver chest or drawer. Thechalk will absorb moisture andyour silver will not tarnish soquickly.

* * *

EASY PEELING

To peel thin skin fruits and veg-etables easily, place in a bowl andcover with boiling water, letstand for one minute then peelwith sharp paring knife.

* * *JAMS AND JELLIES

If you add a small pat of butterwhen cooking fruit for jams andjellies, you won’t have any foamto skim off the top. If you have aproblem with fruit jellies not set-ting, place the jars in a shallowpan half filled with cold water, then bake in moderate oven for30 minutes.

JUICY JUICEIf citrus fruits are warmed in themicrowave or warm oven for afew minutes, they will yield morejuice! Also, salt will make grape-fruit taste sweeter.

* * *

GREAT GROUTTo clean grout (any color), mix 3cups of baking soda with 1 cup ofwarm water and scrub groutwith a brush. Then just rinse off.

* * *

CHOCOLATE STAINS These tough stains can becleaned with 1 part of vinegarand 2 parts of water. Sponge onmixture and blot with lots ofclean cloths until the stain isgone. This tip is a real shirt-saver!

* * *

ORGANIZED CLEANINGTo keep the house clean withouta lot of effort, make use of "waittime" in your day. Wipe down therefrigerator doors as you wait forwater to boil. Sort the magazinestack during television commer-cials, or straighten the coat clos-et when waiting for a familymember to get ready. “Micro-cleaning” in this manner is agood use of spare minutes, and itgoes a long way to keeping thingsorganized on the fly.

God Will Lead You To Do What Is Good And Worthwhile!“Thy will be done in Earth, as

it is in Heaven”~Matthew 6:10

Everyone is familiar with theBible Verse above, Dear Member. It is part of the Lord’s Prayer, which Jesus used to teach HisDisciples how to pray. But did you also know varia-

tions of the phrase “Thy will bedone” also appear twice more inthe Bible? One mention comesfrom Luke 22:42, in which Jesussays, “Father, if Thou be willing, remove this cup from me: never-theless not my will, but Thine,be done.”Similar words also appear in

Matthew 26:42, which reads, “Hewent away again the secondtime, and prayed, saying, O my

Father, if this cup may not passaway from me, except I drink it,Thy will be done.”So, we know the Lord thought

the words “Thy will be done”were very important, DearMember. But what do you sup-pose He wanted us to thinkabout that? We think it is simplythis: that God loves us and Hiswill is to try to do what is good, loving, kind and true. On the surface, that doesn’t

sound so hard. But in the realWorld, with its distractions, problems and hardships, weknow that living up to all thoseideals can be tricky. The thing toremember is, God, our Father, iswith you in spirit. He is alwaysready to help you think and dowhat is best for you and foreveryone you meet. When you do God’s will, He

will lead you to do what is goodand worthwhile. In that manner,He can change lives, both yoursand those you contact. When you allow God’s will to

work through you will reap Hisblessings, as will your friendsand others. As you learn to do God’s will,

you will feel and know His spiritdwells within you, bringing youpeace and comfort.Yes, Dear Friend, the words

“Thy will be done” can be yourpromise to God that you will tryto fulfill His hopes for allmankind!

It seems hard to believe, butthis time last year I was taking55 units of insulin for diabetes,Now, I’m not taking any, yet I’mdoing better than ever before.Don’t think that I quit taking mymedicine and immediately gotbetter, though. Actually, I feltworse, but then, after readingmy Faith Magazine, I decided Ihad not been following the rightpath and I took a more carefullook at what needed to be done.It was about a month ago that I

let my insulin run out, simplybecause I was so tired of usingso much of it. It just hurt to faceit every day. I sort of gave up onit, thinking it was not doing meany good anyway. But soon I gotso sick I thought I would have tobe rushed ot the hospital. That morning, I had read my

Faith Magazine, and I wentagain to the Prayer of Healthand Healing, which is myfavorite. They guided me to thecare of good doctors and nurseswho could help me. I decidedGod wanted me to take my med-ication properly, and that’s whyHe led me to my new doctor, whoprescribed a different medicinethat is easier to take. Now, I’m feeling much better. I

am so grateful for all God’s bless-ings that I think I could write awhole book about them. It iscomforting to know that through

prayer and His guidance, we canfind solutions to our problems ora clearer path to better health orhappiness. Prayer is a major part of my

life. In fact, I think I still haveevery prayer I requested fromFellowship’s Special HelpDepartment. I thank you hearti-ly for the prayers and for FaithMagazine. I keep an issue inevery handbag so I’m neverwithout one. I can truly say I have received

some great blessings this pastyear, and I am thankful for them.I thank God especially for myhealth, and for my new doctor.I’m also thankful for the healthand happiness of my family. Wedon’t have a lot, but we arethankful for what we do have!

SUNSHINE IN MY SOULThere is sunshine in my soul today,More glorious and brightThan glows in any earthly sky,For Jesus is my light.

Refrain:Oh, there’s sunshine, blessed sunshine,When the peaceful, happy moments roll; When Jesus shows His smiling Face,There is sunshine in the soul.

There is music in my soul today,A carol to my King; And Jesus, listening, can hearThe songs I cannot sing.

There is springtime in my soul today,For, when the Lord is near,The dove of peace sings in my heart,The flow’rs of grace appear.

There is gladness in my soul today,And hope and praise and love,For blessings which He gives me now,For joys laid up above.

What if you were asked to puta price on prayer, Dear Member? How much do you think itshould cost? You can use a measuring tape

to figure out the size of a room. You can use a cup to measurewater. But there’s one thingthat’s just impossible to mea-sure. It’s impossible to measurethe importance of your prayers!Your prayers are worth morethan any possession you willever own!Likewise, it’s impossible to

say exactly how much it meansto others when you sayFellowship’s Three DailyPrayers.Let us tell you about a Fellow

Member of yours. This particu-lar Member is a soldier in theU.S. Army. So, of course, he haslittle control over where he willbe stationed next. That is why heis especially grateful to knowthat Fellow Members are withhim in prayer each day.He tells us that no matter

where he has to go, no matterwhat his assignments, he doesnot feel alone. He finds love andcomfort in the knowledge thatFellow Members are joined withhim in prayer. And it keeps himon a steady path, helping him tohave the wisdom and beautifulpeace of the Lord at all timesand in all places.Though he may be a long way

from where you yourself live,

this soldier feels very close to allhis Friends in Fellowship. Justthink about how your Prayersare felt by him across the miles. It’s a wonderful thing — a joythat simply can’t be measured! That is why we wanted us to

pass along this soldier’s wordsof appreciation to you — to letyou see what you mean to him.For when you offer

Fellowship’s Three DailyPrayers, you are gaining a greatdeal more than your own peaceand comfort and strength. Youare asking God to bestow thosevery same blessings upon eachof your Fellow Members, toguide them, to prosper them, tokeep them well and happy. And in their hearts these

Fellowship Friends of yours canhear your prayers and feel yourcloseness and caring concern.Yes, the good that you can do

for others when you pray forthem and with them is a good-ness beyond all measure!

Your Prayers Are Worth MoreThan Any Possession You Own!
