Continued from previous page. The Grant Management Seminar for the Rotary Foundation is occurring in Ellensburg (Oct.13) and at the District Enrichment Weekend in Osoyoos. As mentioned, the District Enrichment Training Weekend is planned for Osoyoos on October 26-27 and this is an opportunity for all Rotarians to be informed on all aspects of Rotary and District 5060. ****Your Presidents and Assistant Governors has received the information and applications—JUST ASK!!! Jacquie and I are continuing our travels throughout the District and are enjoying meeting everyone and learning about the fantastic club programs. Rotarians are engaged locally and internationally and are providing ‘PEACE THROUGH SERVICE’. By the time you receive this newsletter, we will have completed 90% of our visits and we are not looking forward to the end. We have witnessed 35 degree (90+degrees) heat, smoky Cle-Elum, Peachland,Wenatchee and surrounding areas but throughout,

Rotarians rose to these challenges and provided assistance when needed without being asked! Remember to ‘blow your own horn’! Be proud to be a D5060 Rotarian and share the experience with everyone you know! We are developing PEACE THROUGH OUR SERVICE BY CREATING PARTNERSHIPS!!!

Public Relations goal is awareness, and keeping the public in tune with what Rotary is actively doing in their community or projects internationally. Different projects and events require different forms of PR and we have to keep in mind what the target is, and the end result. Is it general awareness of Rotary or a club function / community event? There are so many different forms of media to utilize such as radio, facebook, twitter, text, print, and word of mouth that can assist PR in their role. When hosting an event, send a message to your local radio station, once all the current info is out to the public, then inform your local station. Post a message on facebook, or tweet an event, all great forms of media reaching large amounts of people. When seeking out to achieve awareness in general think about where your visible exposure is and what the traffic would be for consistent viewing? Do you have local signs in your community, and where are they located?

What forms of media reach all age categories? Movie theaters malls, recreation facilities, schools, and community event boards. Do you know where all your community event boards are located in your town? There are basic and simple forms of PR just as much as the high technology ways. Get your local high school interact students involved, invite them to your club meeting. If we think about all the ways we communicate in society on a daily basis, we naturally do PR but think about the options that may be out there to help you blanket PR in your community. Jr Ryla Cancelled or Perhaps Postponed

Unfortunately Jr. Ryla has had to be cancelled due to lack of registrations. There was just not enough time to put get it out there to the schools. I do wish to thank the Salmon Arm club that put in a great deal of effort to come up with 10 students who wanted to attend. AMAZING. We would like to make sure that these upcoming leaders get the opportunity to attend this program so I am looking at dates in the spring. Please keep this in mind. I will get more information out to the clubs in the near future. Bobi Emblin Jr. Ryla Chair

You can now search for a Rotary club with RI's free mobile app. In the Apple app store, Google Play, and BlackBerry App World, it's called the Rotary Club Locator from Rotary International.

Download

iPhone version Android version BlackBerry version

Features

The Rotary Club Locator app helps you find a Rotary club meeting when you're on the go.

The "Near Me" search locates clubs within a physical radius of 100 miles. (Note: Actual driving distances may be further.)

A keyword search for clubs. This search looks for the keyword in either the club name or meeting location address. This is useful for finding clubs that are outside of the 100-mile radius from your current location.

A map showing a club's location and driving directions The ability to save search results to a list of favorite clubs The ability to add a club to your phone's contact list The club's website and primary phone number, if available A search function to find clubs by district

To view club officer contact information, you must login into the app with your RI Member Access login information.

If your club doesn’t appear in the app

Check RI's Club Locator at www.rotary.org to verify that RI has the full postal information for your club's meeting location. Because it works through Google’s GPS and map technology, the app can only show clubs for which RI has complete contact information.

E-clubs, which don’t have a physical meeting location, can't be mapped through the "Near Me" function. E-clubs, however, should still provide their club website and other contact information so e-clubs can be found in the keyword search.

To update your club's meeting location, e-mail the information to [email protected] or ask a club officer to make the update in RI's Member Access.

Questions

If you have questions or feedback, please let RI know by e-mailing the Contact Center at [email protected] or calling 866-976-8279.
