Commodore’s letter – June
The 113th Official Opening of the Milford Yacht Club took place on May 16th. Your Officers presided over
the opening ceremonies and brought our club back to life for another fun filled season.
This year brings an extraordinary number of new members and families into our club. I would like to ask
our membership to help these new members become familiar with our club and the numerous activities
we host each year. Take time and make an extra effort to introduce yourself whenever you notice a new
face. Also plan to attend our "Welcome Aboard Cocktail Party" for new members. This is a great way to
introduce yourself to the new members in person.
We are now entering the busiest months of our year with many events planned throughout this summer.
There is sailing, fishing, boating, dancing, eating, or just sharing a drink with friends and listening to music
on our deck. Please read through this issue of our Rudder so that you don't miss any of the popular up-
coming events. Be sure to check your calendar today.
A special thanks should be made to our Garden and Grounds Committee, especially Nell and Dory, for
helping to make our club so beautiful. They spend many hours planting, maintaining and watering so that
our members and guests can enjoy the grounds surrounding our deck and club house.
Lastly, be sure to check out the new signage which is installed on the clubhouse to identify the Milford
Yacht Club to visitors and guests. I think they look fantastic and give help give the club a much needed
identification.
