CHARUSAT UG student’s research paper get’s selected in an International

conference AFITA 2014 at Perth Australia

Dharesh Khanna, a student of the seventh

semester (B Tech) - Department of

Computer Engineering at Chandubhai S

Patel Institute of Technology (CSPIT) and

Prof. Chintan Bhatt of computer

Department wrote a research paper

regarding how to improve agriculture

and rural development in India using

simple mobile technology titled “NEXT

GENRATION AGRICULTURE AND RURAL

DEVELOPMENT”. And submitted to 9th

Conference of the Asian Federation for

Information Technology in Agriculture –

2014 (AFITA 2014) at Perth Australia. Their research paper got selected for poster

presentation at the mentioned International conference from 29 Sep to 2 Oct 2014.

The Asian Federation for Information Technology in Agriculture, AFITA was founded in

January 24, 1998 in Wakayama City, Japan. It is a network to provide the basis for

cooperation among international organizations and associations with interest in

research and the utilization of information technology in agriculture, food and the

environment. Agriculture, with its allied sectors, is unquestionably the largest livelihood

provider in India, more so in the vast rural areas .Their research covered many

important aspects such as why India has less production of crops compared to other

countries even though we have more land, more labour and have many schemes under

Indian government to promote agriculture.

They showed by how a simple and cheap

mobile technology can help to improve

production of crops up to 20% and resolve

many issues by the use of mobility. They

demonstrated the use of Mfarming and

Mlearning can create a new revolution in

Indian farming.

“India has hard working farmers, more land and a very helpful government we lack due

to technology in farming we still rely on monsoon for water and our instincts for

weather but in other countries they have developed various system which help them in

more production in less land and less water compared to us” Khanna Said “Indian

farming and Indian IT industries does not go hand in hand they have separate ways. In

other countries the scenario is opposite IT industries is helping to improve production
