_______________________________________________________________________________________________ Brother Knights, Each year our council is asked to recruit a certain number of men to join our council and the Order. This fulfills a requirement needed to become a Star Council, but we should not approach recruitment solely from a numbers standpoint. Instead, we need to think about what being a member of the Knights of Columbus can do for the men who are not currently members and their families. As Knights of Columbus, we seek is to serve the Church, bring our members and their families closer to Christ, provide assistance for members and families in mes of need, and promote fraternity among Catholic men in our local community. We must be driven by the missionary spirit of our Faith to bring others to our Order so they too can benefit from the opportunies being a Knight provides. We all know someone we see regularly see at Mass, a coworker, a neighbor, or even a family member who isn’t currently a Knight. Why not ask him if he wants to join? The number one reason most Catholic men give for not joining is because no one ever asked. This year we are tasked with a net gain of 20 new members. Make it your personal goal to recruit one new member this year and give him and his family to opportunity to access the benefits of being a Knight of Columbus. Brother Knights, Each year our council is asked to recruit a certain number of men to join our council and the Order. This fulfills a requirement needed to become a Star Council, but we should not approach recruitment solely from a numbers standpoint. Instead, we need

to think about what being a member of the Knights of Columbus can do for the men who are not currently members and their families.

GAME DAY PIEROGI SALES Finally—football season is upon us. Everyone is getting excited to support the Irish (except maybe Eric Snyder) in the renovated stadium. Last year Steve Sommers introduced the pedestrian traffic along Bulla Rd to our (almost) famous Pierogi assortments. Well brothers, that time is again here! This coming Saturday, September 2, the fantastic aroma of pierogi sautéed in butter will be emanating from our tent on the corner of Ivy and Bulla Roads on the Corvilla property. This is a relaxing, fun event that raises money for our Corvilla friends and you can’t appreciate how much I mean fun! You’ll make friends with the fans (home and visitor alike) and see the pleasure that comes to the faces of first-time pierogi customers as they taste the fantastic fried goodness. CAMPAIGN FOR INTELLECTUAL DISABILITIES TOOTSIE ROLL DRIVE

Bob Ramesh has scheduled the next Tootsie Roll Drive for September 23 and will gladly take sign-ups for this great event which will again take place at the South Bend Farmer’s Market. He’s looking for another record-breaking collection!

FOOTBALL GAME WATCH AND POTLUCK Similar to last year, The council will be hosting a handful of Notre Dame football game watches for Knights, families, and friends. Our first will be for the Notre Dame - Boston College game on Saturday, September 16th at Noon. We'll have the game on the projection screen in the main hall and on the TVs down in the bar. The council will provide the main dish (sausage, chicken, or something similar) and everyone is asked to bring a side dish, appetizer, or dessert to share. The bar will be open and Knights will receive a 50% discount on purchases. See you there!

BLOOD DRIVE The council is in the process of scheduling a blood drive at the Council at 553 on Saturday, September 16th from 10am - 1pm. Take 30 minutes of you time to help save a life by do-nating blood and stick to watch the Notre Dame football game with your Brother Knights! We have had to cancel our last two blood drives due to poor response. Strongly consider signing up!

A HEART-FELT THANK YOU To all who worked to make the spaghetti dinners for Ability Experience Journey of Hope (at our hall – group shown below) and the Dayton Right to Life ND2UD (at Little Flower Parish) a huge success. Both organizations are already looking forward to visiting us next year! (photo by Tina Masterson)
