Rock Creek Baptist Church * 44900 Hardesty Road * Shawnee, Oklahoma 74801 Volume 41 Issue 5 For June 2018 To the Saints of Rock Creek Baptist Church: I am leading marriage counseling for a couple I will marry in July. Two things that we will discuss and deal with are attitude and forgiveness. Married or single—these are two major areas to deal with in everyone’s lives. As followers of the Lord Jesus Christ we have some instructions about these. Philippians 2:1-11 tells us to have the attitude of Christ. Please read this passage, and recognize Paul is writing to Christians on how to treat other Christians. Let me summarize the passage this way… Consider others as more important than yourself and look out for the interest of others. Our example is the Lord Jesus Christ who left all the benefits and privileges of heaven to come to us and give us the opportunity of a right relationship with our Creator, Father God. What would happen in our relationships if we put others first before our own wants, desires and conveniences? I Corinthians 13 and John 3:16 are summarized by - Love is a choice and an action. It is given to undeserving and ungrateful folks. It is not a feeling. We have the capacity to love like Christ because we, as Christians, have Christ living in us. I cannot love others as He does without His love in my heart. If your relationship is not right with the Lord, it cannot be right with others. How will you show love to someone else today? Ephesians 4:32 and Colossians 3:13 can be summarized in - Forgive others as Christ has forgiven you. My sin (unbelief and rebellion against God) cost God His very bestHis only begotten Son - so that I might be forgiven. There is nothing that someone else can do to me that is more offensive than what I have done against God. If I have truly been forgiven, I must forgive others (even when they don’t deserve it—just like I don’t deserve God’s forgiveness). Unforgiveness binds and destroys US—not the ones we don’t forgive. Forgiveness is a choice. What would forgiveness look like toward someone else? Attitude and forgiveness two things we all need to deal with in our lives. Blessings, Bro. Danny Upon This Rock

    Volume 41 Issue 5

    For June 2018

To the Saints of Rock Creek Baptist Church:

I am leading marriage counseling for a couple I will marry in July. Two things that we will discuss and deal

with are attitude and forgiveness. Married or single—these are two major areas to deal with in everyone’s lives.

As followers of the Lord Jesus Christ we have some instructions about these.

Philippians 2:1-11 tells us to have the attitude of Christ. Please read this passage, and recognize Paul is writing

to Christians on how to treat other Christians. Let me summarize the passage this way… Consider others as

more important than yourself and look out for the interest of others. Our example is the Lord Jesus Christ who

left all the benefits and privileges of heaven to come to us and give us the opportunity of a right relationship

with our Creator, Father God. What would happen in our relationships if we put others first before our own

    wants, desires and conveniences?

I Corinthians 13 and John 3:16 are summarized by - Love is a choice and an action. It is given to undeserving

and ungrateful folks. It is not a feeling. We have the capacity to love like Christ because we, as Christians,

have Christ living in us. I cannot love others as He does without His love in my heart. If your relationship is

not right with the Lord, it cannot be right with others. How will you show love to someone else today?

Ephesians 4:32 and Colossians 3:13 can be summarized in - Forgive others as Christ has forgiven you. My sin

(unbelief and rebellion against God) cost God His very best—His only begotten Son - so that I might be

forgiven. There is nothing that someone else can do to me that is more offensive than what I have done against

God. If I have truly been forgiven, I must forgive others (even when they don’t deserve it—just like I don’t

deserve God’s forgiveness). Unforgiveness binds and destroys US—not the ones we don’t forgive.

Forgiveness is a choice. What would forgiveness look like toward someone else?

Attitude and forgiveness – two things we all need to deal with in our lives.

    Blessings,

    Bro. Danny

  • Music Hello, Church!

It’s hard to believe that spring is here and summer is right around the corner! On that note, the choir ministry

is taking a break for the summer and will reconvene in August. I am very thankful for this group of men and

women who have worked diligently and patiently. You do NOT have to read music to be a part of this.

Just an additional reminder: Proclaim!, a statewide choir/orchestra/worship band retreat, is sponsored by the

BGCO and will be held at First Baptist Church of Edmond. This will take place August 10 & 11. If you are

in the choir or worship band or would like to be in either one, this should be a wonderful event to attend. If

you are interested, you can either let me know or simply sign up on the sheet that will be provided in the

    foyer. Have a wonderful June,

    Steve Sims _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

    Youth Activities

    Dear RCBC,

Summer has officially started and our Summer Kick-off (May 23) was a huge success. We are excited for

the up-coming events and ask that you continue to pray for the Student Ministry and the spiritual growth of

our students as they continually focus on Jesus. As June approaches, we are excited for Super Summer (June

18-22). It will be held at Oklahoma Baptist University and we will be working for Student Ministries from

other BGCO and SBC churches from across the country. Super Summer is a week for leadership students, or

students with leadership potential, to gather together and just focus on Jesus and have a time to grow with

other mature believers. This year we are able to take two students and we are very excited to see the work

that the Lord will accomplish through this event. We are also preparing for Falls Creek at the beginning of

July (July 2-7) and Falls Creek forms are still available in the foyer. The Falls Creek parent meeting will be

5:00 PM on July 1st. We will discuss code of conduct and other information regarding our week at camp.

I am grateful for what the faith community of Rock Creek does for our students and their willingness to

provide whatever is needed to disciple and teach our students. I would also like to ask that you are all in

prayer for Sally and myself as we get married June 2nd. We will be gone the two weeks following, but youth

activities will continue as normal. Thank you for all your love and support as we have been called to

    minister and disciple at RCBC.

    Weston Young
